Traveling to Emporia is always a treat. However, I had no idea I would discover a new reason to return more often. This April, while attending the GBO disc golf tournament, I completed a 6 day stay at the America's Best on Hwy 40 at the west end of town. I found them online, called to confirm my request and dates, and followed through with the reservation. Upon arrival, I was greeted with a friendly smile and a, "welcome to Emporia, its nice to have you". The lovely young lady was so kind and eager to get me checked in and comfortably prepared and ready for the long week. She knew all about the event and that was yet another bonus. Easy and delicious simple serve yourself breakfast in the lobby each morning with some personal touches; Always available and working properly were the ice, pop, snack, telephone, a/c-heater, big TV with a million channels, comfortable bed and furnishings, delicious restaurants nearby, and a real enjoyable atmosphere, decent water pressure with ample hot water, parking right outside my room was a bonus, and there was a convenience store across the street, to boot. All in all, I will be returning to Emporia knowing I have a home away from home. Thank you to the Lady in Red...…
We stopped on our way back north. Temp was around 12 degrees. Heater in room was not turned on when we got there at 6 pm. It took 7 hours before I was able to turn the heat down. Once the room was heated up it was comfortable. Décor very outdated but for sleeping adequate. Bed did not cause me any problems with my back. Furniture outdated and cushion mismatched and worn but again didn't affect the quality of sleep. Breakfast very minimal. Cereal, toast and waffles with coffee and juice. There were no rolls and/or bagels. Hotel is older and doesn't have a lot of outlets. Young couple operating the hotel were very nice.
For the money this place was surprisingly good. The room was clean and comfortable. The shower had great water pressure. It included your typical carb breakfast. We would definitely stay again when passing through.
We only stayed one night and it was 'fine.' Older property that needs freshening up. Badly. Huge rooms, icky furniture. Not much for breakfast and lots of non-working things. It was cheap and the property reflected the price. However - the people running the motel were incredibly nice.
The room smelled clean when we walked in. It’s definitely a little out of date but at least clean. The decorative pillows on the bed were in disrepair. There were 2” screws sticking out of the walls. The bed was comfortable. I would say overall even despite the ugly tattered pillows the room was a great value for the price!
