We arrived on an overnight ferry extremely late in the morning around 4AM, we rung ahead to let them know out time of arrival and to our surprise they said there would be someone at the port to collect us! and there they were to take us to this wonderful little hotel! upon arrival we were taken straight to our room, we requested mopeds when we arrived and when we woke up the next morning they were there waiting for us! they were extremely helpful providing us with a map and showing us hidden little gems on the island we could go visit! we had breakfast on the balcony every morning which was freshly cooked the staff couldn't have been more helpful and friendly! Unfortunately whilst on the island one night my phone flew of my moped which I didn't realise until about 30 minutes down the road, I went back to the hotel and explained what had happened, Honestly they were amazing!! they provided me with a phone to call my mobile, they even went out themselves looking for the phone and contacted the local radio station to put out a request if anyone found it to let them know where I was staying! I was extremely lucky and a man returned it the next morning! I can not fault the locals either they are some of the friendliest/kindest people we met! and were happy to help at any opportunity! We felt so safe here.At the end of our trip they arranged out Ferry tickets for us and drove us to the port! overall the experience was amazing and this was out favourite place to stay out of our 2 weeks in the Philippines, would definitely recommend to any one to stay here!

If there were more than 5 stars to be given then I would have given you more! Our stay was absolutely amazing and we can not recommend this resort enough! Bong especially made our stay very special to us! He was so kind and thoughtful and gave us so much information for what we can do around the island!
He got up at 5am to get our boat tickets to Dumaguete... now I’ve never seen anybody bend over backwards to help their guests as much as he did!
This resort was the best that we had stayed in throughout our travels of the Philippines and one that I will continue to recommend.
All the staff, not just Bong work ever so hard around the resort! We couldn’t thank you all enough for everything you had done for us!
We hope to come back soon and stay with you again!

Bungalow , garden and swimmingpool were fine. The freshly baked bread, yoghurt with granola and the coffee from the Swiss Jura coffeemachine were nice. the location was desolate and far away from the main road. But… the owner is very very grumpy

The hotel is clean and the general staff were exceptionally kind .
The owner however made me and my partner feel uncomfortable on our three day stay .
Upon arrival he said our room wasn’t ready but someone was cleaning it . He poured himself a beer and sat with us not saying anything . After 45 minutes I asked when the room would be ready and he said the person who was cleaning it was on their way . What a waste of our time . Just wish he had said something ?
He charged us to use sugar for our tea and two sachets of creamer ( milk powder). - this made me so angry . The room is not cheap by Filipino standards and charge us for sugar ?!
He said we could borrow his snorkel and life jacket and then charged us for it at the end of our stay ( never once mentioning a rate to us).
When my partner asked to rent a motorbike for several days and if he could get a discount he responded ‘do you really need a discount?’.
I cannot stress how wonderful the staff and the owners wife were , but he tainted an otherwise nice hotel .

Response from Rene F, Owner at Garden Bungalows Resort

Hi Miss Della, It's quite obvious that you do not like me very much from the start which I could take. I am an old man, at times perhaps looking stoic and bland without ever meaning to, who was never a talker which my wife sometimes protest but definitely not penny pinching. You arrived at 12 noon, our check-in is from 2 pm. We had guests just checking out and I explained you the situation. Three of our staff went down with flu leaving my wife and our laundry woman to do the cleaning of all four rooms. The cleaning was as fast as possible. I offered to Luke the new Yamaha aero 155 for p 500 per 24 hours as an alternative to the standard scooter. He could test drive both scooters and you choose the more expensive. The rate is already low and I did not expect to be asked for a discount. Yes, my response was not appropriate. I apologize. Guests are given creamer and sugar without additional charge should they want to have more at "breakfast." For the convenience of the guests we have a kettle in the room, offer unlimited mineral water (which is not freely available in other resorts) and we "sell" creamer, tea, coffee sticks and sugar. The price list is in the room. It is hard to understand, how you got so angry to be charged a total of 20 peso for 2 creamers and a glass with sugar brought to your room. Luke asked for 2 snorkeling sets and 1 life jacket. I remember he said 'Oh, what a good material!', but did not ask for the price. We charged 300 pesos for everything for 3 days. Where else can you get that? What really hurts me is, that your rate our resort down to 2 points, only because you did not like my face. You mentioned the exceptionally kind staff. They did not even get a small tip.

We stayed here in June 2018 during a 3 week stay in the Philippines. It was perfect for us as a couple and the hosts were really helpful. Nothing was too much hassle and Bong and Jennifer were exceptional. Highly recommended.

So we stayed in the Philippines for two weeks and travelled around everywhere and stayed in a number of hotels. This small but very personalised resort went over and beyond to accommodate us and really did make us feel welcome. Bong the Hotel Manager was really helpful, helped us sort out a couple of ferries for our onward trip and even gave us a plan of things to do on siquijor island. They have Mopeds on site and hired them to us for a very good price, the collected us and dropped us off at the ferry port. The rooms were very clean, had awesome WIFI and lovely AC. A safe and even a hairdryer which my wife was really happy with. They had a laundry service and even serve you breakfast outside your room on the decking. They even ask you what time you would like it to be served and wake you up to have your breakfast. Honestly, I have never felt so welcome and treated so nicely. Thank you, Garden bungalows resort and special thanks to Bong.

The pick up already was great; Bong, the resort's helper, picked us up from the port and started giving us the best tips for the island. It was such a warm welcome by this great guy. Then we arrived at the resort: what a beautiful place! Everything just looks so perfect. Met the owner and his wife, they are really friendly as well. The room was very neat and the service was unbelievable. We rent a motorbike/scooter at the resort so we could discover the island ourself. If you do this: go to every place that Bong recommends, these places (beaches, restaurants, sightseeings) where so good!
Only downside: if you don't ride a motorbike yourself it's quite difficult to get to the resort. But on the other hand, this keeps out the simple and non-adventures tourists out :).

We have just spent the most amazing 4 nights in this idyllic place. It is beautiful and the people who own it and work here are beautiful also....so kind and caring. The bungalows are set in wonderfully tended gardens. The pool is spotless,as are the bungalows. We were given great advice about tours round the island... including the waterfalls...the best day out we have had. There was a power cut one night in the town...it was no problem...(contrary to a previous reviewer who stayed at same time as us).....everyone here is so laid back and chilled out.We have travelled round Philipines and this is our FAVOURITE PLACE BY FAR ...Rene, Jennifer and Bong were so friendly it was like staying with family....We will be back!! Thank you soooooo much for having our family to your home.

Came back from Garden Bungalows earlier this week, what a pleasure to stay in such a lovely accommodation. Its the kind of place you almost dont want to write a review on, it's so nice there so why share it, lol. Friendliness from the moment you arrive until you leave. The bungalows are run by Rene and Jennifer, both of whom are just the nicest people you could wish to meet, helpful and courteous. They also have a good team working for them keeping the place super clean and on top of everything. Had the pleasure to meet their Filipino assistant 'Bong', done anything asked of him, in fact no need to ask, he was always one step ahead, even prebooked our departure tickets and then accompanied us to the port on Sunday morning to ensure we had no problems. The garden is well maintained, very colorful and relaxing, plenty of colourful birds to admire whilst lazing in the pool, lol.
Thank you guys for a lovely mini break. Eddie & Noime.
