We stayed in Shalom for a week and it was great, it really felt 5 star.

If you are looking for accommodation that feels like home with the extra touch, then this is the one. The hosts have taken care of all the small things often overlooked in self catering accommodation right down to spices, cleaning materials and all the little things.

Accommodation was equipped with comfortable beds with ironed pillow cases and quality fixtures and fittings. The BBQ outside was high end and got a real workout over the week.

The beach is nearby and only a short walk to what I would rate as the best bay on the island, with a fishing jetty and what appears to be a very new and well constructed boat launch. As a handy tip there is fishing charters and dolphin trips that leave from the bay and Kingscote is only a 15 minute drive to shops and restaurants. All attractions were within 45 minutes of the house and it provided the perfect location. We were so glad we chose Emu Bay, it is absolutely stunning.

You will find koalas in the trees, kangaroos and even a echidnae around Shalom! You really find yourself immersed in nature.

I cannot recommend Emu Bay Holiday Homes enough.

My wife and I both enjoyed our stay at Emu Bay Holiday Homes. Our cottage was well appointed and the kitchen, pantry and bathroom were well stocked with most of the little essentials that one needs to make things run smoothly. Little touches like details of all of the local emergency phone numbers being displayed on the fridge showed that this was a host that does that little bit extra for their guests. The accommodation is self check in and René was away when we arrived but took the trouble to send us an SMS text just to verify that we had checked in okay. Nice touches all round and I can wholeheartedly recommend this accomodation you anyone staying on Kangaroo Island. Can go further and say that the grounds were well kept and have great views of Emu Bay. Enjoy!!!

We were lucky enough to spend 5 sun filled days in Cottage 3 at Emu Bay in the second week of the school holidays just over a week ago. Our holiday could not have been more perfect. Originally we had booked in the “ Book them out” campaign after the bushfires and were due to go in April but sadly everything on Kangaroo Island had to close down due to Covid 19. Renè, the owner of Emu Bay Holiday Homes was extremely efficient in keeping us up to date on the booking situation and when things were safe again we immediately chose our new dates to stay. As it turned out Flinders Chase had just reopened the week previously so that was an added bonus as we were able to see the incredible revegetation on the burnt landscape as we drove to Admiral’s Arch and Remarkable Rocks.
The Holiday Homes are in a wonderful setting , very well signposted and maintained and with a lovely view of Emu Bay itself from the door of the lounge room in Cottage 3. The cottage is extremely well equipped with everything you need to be self contained. The bed is very comfortable and it is just so peaceful and relaxing to be in the cottage. Renè came and introduced herself and couldn’t have been more helpful. We loved our time staying in Cottage 3 and highly recommend staying. We will definitely be back.

We (2 adults and a teenager) have stayed here for 4 days and will be leaving for Adelaide tomorrow (18/7/21). The cabin (Cabin 4) was clean with all the cutlery, pots and pans and kitchen items you would need. The bedding was really comfortable. The BBQ was used virtually every night and Drakes was only 20 minutes away in Kingscote for supplies. We liaised with the owner Rene who was extremely helpful when I messaged her to let her know that the DVD player was not working. She immediately txt back and said she would bring a new one which she did. Sensational service! We WILL be back :)

First off KI as a place is amazing and not highlighted enough on locations to visit when travelling from the UK. We booked 6 nights having researched all about the Island and what it had to offer in terms of scenery, things to do and wildlife and were not disappointed so definitely ensure you visit.
As a place to stay then Emu Bay Holiday Homes was 5 stars in terms of what we were after as was comfortable, had all amenities, great location and so much wildlife.
We stayed in Shalom House which was clean, stocked for self catering, located perfectly for peace throughout the day and reguarly had Koalas, Kangaroos and Echidnas outside our windows we could go out and watch up close anytime from sunrise to nights end.
You could have strolls down to Emu Bay beach 5 mins away or travel to Kingscote for supplies 15mins driveaway.
If you are visiting you should know anyway but the Island is big and takes a lot of driving to visit most places which we did but all the driving is through scenic landscapes and hardly any cara on the roads makong for a relaxing tour of the island at your own leisure.
We have stayedany places when visiting Australia bit this was definitely the best if you combine accomodation and location and Rene was nice to deal with when booking and also made us aware a couple of times where Koalas were close by for us to go and view.

We stayed in Amani House at Emu Bay. There were 3 couples, which worked perfectly with the three bedrooms. It was spotless, modern, had everything we needed. The kitchen was extremely well catered for from spices to platter trays, lots of cutlery, bowls and matching glasses and cups and a full size fridge. Just made you feel very special as Rene has been very thoughtful in considering what her guests will need to enhance their stay. There is little playground and cubby house near the labyrinth which we also enjoyed. Amani is the house at the top of the hill so the view is spectacular overlooking Emu Bay. Wow ! It sleeps 8 as there are also a set of bunks in one of the rooms with the double bed so ideal for a young family and two other couples. The adjacent house “Bayview” has an interconnecting door if you want to book that as well to accommodate another couple. Highly recommended, relaxing and a great location for day trips as it’s only 15 minutes from Kingscote. So happy thanks Rene for making our stay so memorable xo

The home was wonderful, fantastic views, everything you could want for in the house. Comfortable bedrooms, and even though the temperature reached 37 degrees the house was still cool when we returned in the evening, despite not having the air-conditioning on. Kangaroos and koalas in the sounds made this magical. Drove onto the beach for early morning and evening swims. I wish we had stayed a lot longer as this was close to paradise that you could get.

Emu Bay Holiday Homes was the perfect stay on the Northern side of Kangaroo Island. It has the best view of Emu Bay, the beach with the whitest sand and clearest water. Only 15 minutes to Kingscote and all the attractions nearby. Kangaroo Island Spirits was our fave. The Bayview apartment was perfect for a couple: comfortable living room and bedroom, well equipped kitchen facilities and a very clean and tidy bathroom. All we needed was our food and drink supplies and the rest was taken care of! Booking and organisation was super easy and René was so welcoming, accomodating and informative on the areas best attractions, restaurants and things to do! We highly recommend staying at Emu Bay Holiday Homes for couples or families for the best experience on the island.

We stayed for 3 nights and had a beautiful, relaxing stay. The room was very comfortable and had everything we needed, including a toaster oven, microwave and hotplate.

The view from the porch was just gorgeous, with perfectly landscaped gardens giving way to a panoramic backdrop of the bay. The beach is just a few minutes walk away, and the township of Kingscote a short drive from the property.

The owner, Rene, was lovely and made sure we had everything we needed. Would highly recommend staying here.

No, Shalom does not have a clothes dryer. There is a washing line with pegs outside and a clothes airer inside. In Kingscote, the main town where you will do all shopping, there is a great laundromat with big clothes dryers.
