We spent one evening in this beautiful Victorian home in September. Kris, the owner was helpful and informative about the town of Richmond and its rich local history. The breakfast Kris prepared for us was delicious and quite hearty. Our room was comfortable and quiet with a

In town for a night out with girlfriends. We were met by Jill, the owner and perfect hostess. Our rooms were ready but we enjoyed chatting with her so much, she kind of seemed like one of our group! The mansion is filled with gorgeous antiques and rich history. The rooms were

POSITIVES 1. Authentic Victorian decor and antiques. 2. Kris (male owner) did a nice job clearing snow from steps and sidewalk. NEGATIVES 1. Told owner we were early risers. He said breakfast would be served at 9 AM. Much too late for us so we ate out. 2. Asked owner if

We strive to have a very guest centered business . That being said, we offered Mr. Parrot various options during his brief stay with us. While we he was on property he refused to discuss with us any concerns/issues. He abruptly left without communicating what so ever as to the specific reasons. 1. We offered breakfast flexibility, offering to serve them any time they preferred. 2. In order to be more environmentally conscience, we do not provide bottled water but instead a Culligan water cooler that is easily accessible for all guests. 3. The room 6 is not a “Pricier” room as stated but the same rate as all other king size guest rooms. The bed has a memory foam topper, which can be easily removed if a guest prefers a firmer mattress. Once again , no communication concerning this concern. 4. We do heat with an outdoor wood burner in extreme cold. It is vented and drafted away from the house and is impossible to circulate smoke through the ventilation system, as it is a hot water fed system. We also offered a room on the opposite side of the inn if it was bothersome to them. The 1st floor become chilly overnight due to their in attentiveness in closing the exterior door tightly. It was left ajar overnight and it was in the teens outdoor. 5. If our historic inn had “ original wiring” there would be no wiring. As there was no wiring in 1890. The entire inn has updated and in code wiring. 6 . Additional towels are always available 7. We clearly state on street parking in our advertising , however we can offer off street since we own the property next door as well. We did not charge a cancellation fee, as stated in our confirmation email and per the terms they agreed to. We even went so far as returning items they left in the room to them. Our customer service was discredited and they left abruptly with no explanations, only to vent on Trip Advisor.

The host was amiable. Rooms very clean and the breakfast food was far above average. Richmond Indiana has many touristy things to see and do. You should also visit the visitors center nearby. This review site is a pain in the keester though.

We stayed three nights at the Philip W. Smith B&B for our anniversary in room #5. The room was quite comfortable. The shower had the most water pressure I've ever experienced - very nice. The breakfast was good. I liked that the host would tidy up and make the bed if you wanted
