The Causeway Motel is a modest property, but the room was spacious, comfortable, and clean (and this was the day after a large wedding party!) The restaurant next door provides a good range of both traditional Newfie meals and other fare (hamburgers, etc.). The service was very good. We were told upon check-in that there was a dance until 4 am in the lounge on the other side of the motel, but other than some heavy footsteps outside, we were not disturbed.

After reading the reviews I wasn't sure what to expect when I arrived. While the place did look a bit wore, the staff there were great. The room was big and the beds were comfortable. I had supper and breakfast at the restaurant and the food/service was very good. The setting is unbelievable. I especially like the patio overlooking the bay. I will be returning next year to visit the area and plan to stay there again.

Making a day trip to Fogo Island and wanted to stay near the ferry. Muggee's is only 25 minutes away. Though modest, it is clean and pleasant with a lovely deck and view. There is a restaurant on sight also where you can get breakfast or a simple fish and chips type of meal.

Even though the Causeway Motel has no working website, we booked for two nights last month since it has two & a half stars in the NL Travel Guide. (Still trying to figure that out!). The place looked rather run down as we drove in which was confirmed after we checked in at the attached restaurant. The room had a strong smell of disinfectant when we first entered which abated after opening doors & windows. The furnishings were old & tired with threadbare sheets and covers. After sunset the mosquitoes attacked with a vengance since one screen had a hole the diameter of my little finger.

The attached restaurant doesn't open until 10 AM meaning breakfast is 40-45 kms in either direction.

We checked out after the one night!

This motel has great potential based on its setting but needs updating. The rooms are spacious and have a lovely view but have old furniture including worn out beds and a CRT tv ( can't remember when I last saw one of those). There is no coffee maker, fridge or microwave which would have been nice as the attached restaurant didn't open until 10am. The bathroom fixtures were old and there was no shampoo. Water temperature was not hot enough. On a positive note, the staff was friendly, the Internet worked well, and the fish and chips were very good.

We were four women bicycling in Newfoundland for 3 weeks so our needs were different from most folks. We actually stayed here TWO times and the staff could not have been more accommodating and kind! We arrived the first time in the pouring rain after having ridden some 50+ miles. They set us up right away with warm baths, heat lamps for our clothes and food for our tummies! The rooms were clean and spacious. It is under new ownership and they are remodeling the place room-by-room. We rode to the ferry and stayed on Fogo Island for a few days and then returned to Muggee's before heading to Twillingate. Arriving here for the second time (in the pouring rain again) was like coming home! They already had everything set up for us and welcomed us back! Sure, there are fancier places to stay, I guess, but if you're looking for kind-hearted people who care about your comfort, these are your people! THANK YOU!

This motel is under new management and has actually changed its name to Muggee's Place. It happened to be getting late when we pulled in to see if they had a room available. Unfortunately (for us) the only room we could get was a "smoking" room, and that proved to be a huge mistake on our part. We can't blame the motel staff for that one, but we should have continued down the road. I did wonder however when we got up in the morning to find that it seemed not all the rooms were used overnight, and therefore made us wonder why we could only get a smoking room. We ate at the attached restaurant, and there were no complaints about the meal. The staff at the motel really tried to serve us in the most pleasant way possible, but it was so early in the season that we can't say one way or the other how it will go once tourist season arrives. The view out the back deck of the room was nice, and we were early enough in the season to avoid any insect problems. If you are looking for a bed for the night, then this place is fine. If you are looking for anything more, I would suggest that you continue your drive down the road.
