Hotel's Favorite
This hotel is clean and there have been some updates made, but like most Best Westerns, it is outdated and feels old. Some things are in disrepair. Pool is not open. Washer/Dryer barely functional (if you are coming for team travel, do not plan on being able to wash uniforms here). Rooms lacking any storage. Outdoor doors do not lock. No outdoor area to gather as a group. The area is a bit run down. Would not return here, but for the price I paid, I did feel like it was a good value. I gave this hotel a "Very Good" rating for this reason. It was reasonably priced and Best Westerns do not pretend to be something different than they are...it met my expectations for this brand of hotel.

This hotel was formerly the Pear Tree Inn, just recently purchased and renovated by Best Western. While this hotel is not fancy, it is clean and the staff are super helpful and friendly. I stayed here recently during the Indiana State Fair after my original reservation at the Hawthorne Suites was cancelled, unbeknownst to me, due to the property being sold to a real estate developer. I booked the Best Western on Expedia in the parking lot and walked into the lobby. My reservation was there and the receptionist was extremely understanding and comforting during my breakdown.
The lobby and common areas were clean and well maintained, our room, while not huge, was comfortable and clean as well. We did have an issue with the t.v. programming, but was addressed by staff with one phone call. A small breakfast buffet was served each morning, of which we took advantage only twice due to early show times with livestock. There was a small outdoor pool, which was mostly clean and my grandsons loved. A limited number of pool toys were available for the kids and towels were provided.
The one thing that will make this facility my choice for all future stays in Indianapolis for livestock shows was the attention and kindness demonstrated by two specific staff members. We loaded our pigs on Saturday evening and returned to the hotel late in the evening. Titus and Kameron happened to be outside when we pulled into the parking lot and immediately offered to get water for us to give to the pigs. They helped us feed and care for the pigs and advised they would keep an eye on our trailer during the night. While pigs in their parking lot may have been a novelty to them, their kindness and helpfulness will never be forgotten. Thank you so much for making what started out as a stressful ordeal into a very pleasant stay. You two specifically deserve this “5-star” rating!!

This was an unexpected stay due to a family medical emergency. They offer a special rate for St. Vincent patients family. This hotel is newly renovated - in fact they still have a bit to finish up according to the signage. It was very clean and everything was exceptional. I want to give a shout out to the employee that checked us in, Dianne. She was trained well and was so very polite and accommodating, which was welcomed after the day we had had at the hospital. We checked in rather late and she was quick and efficient, despite us being the third in line to check in. The rooms and breakfast area were clean. There was a wonderful selection at breakfast and the hot foods were hot and the cold foods were cold. When we are back in the area we would definitely stay here again. There is also a Cracker Barrel restaurant that is in walking distance and the hotel is right off 465 - easy to get to.

This was the worst place I’ve ever stayed while traveling for kids/sports. My room smelled of marijuana. A friend was given this room and asked to move for the marijuana smell. They moved them and sprayed air freshener and then gave the room to us. When I tried to move, they had no place to put us. On top of that, they did not throw out the guest who was smoking marijuana in the hall. Worst experience ever.

I wrote this email to the General Manager but got NO response: (we were not the only people who this girl was either rude or lied to )
Good afternoon,
Rather than post a bad review just because of one person, I have decided to email you privately instead.
My husband and I were guests at your hotel last night 6th August. This was not a cheap stay for us with the New Zealand dollar exchange rate being poor at present.
Upon arrival, the young girl on reception was on a private phone call and continued to be so for quite a time, upon ending the call she then picked the phone up couple more times even though it didn't ring, and fiddled around with some money in ? the till. I asked if there was someone else not busy like herself who could check us in . She then slowly said she could do it.
It was a bit of a long slow process, with the young lady speaking exceptionally quietly so we had to keep asking her to repeat herself.
We asked if there were pool towels, she said no but we could get some from the gym - found later to be a lie, there were pool towels.
Asked what floor the laundry was on, she said the 3rd, another lie, later found it was the 4th.
Asked how much the cost was for the laundry machines, she didn't know.
Asked if she could change a $5 for quarters so we could do our laundry, she said that the hotel does not do change.
Asked if there was a change machine, - no. But, advised us to go next door to liquor store to get change. We went there and were told in no uncertain terms that she had lied, that they do not give out change all.
I don't know what her problem was, but lying to guests is not acceptable.
Later that evening, a man was on reception and provided change (quarters) when we found the dryer was $3 so we were short. He was much more amenable.
This morning on checking out, the same young lady was on reception, and when I asked for your email, she suddenly found her voice and spoke normally instead of the whispering she was doing the night before.
As overseas tourists and prolific reviewers on numerous websites, we fully understand the impact a negative review can have, which is why I am emailing you privately, as this was just one person ruining our overall stay.
As my husband is a company owner/director and employer, we fully understand how difficult these sort of situations are.
I will wait for your response before I write my next travel blog and do my reviews accordingly. '
Therefore, the lack of reply from the General Manager reflects that she just doesn't care and so this review was posted.

We have stayed at here twice in the past year. The location is convenient, north of downtown Indianapolis. The public areas and our rooms are very clean. Front desk staff is friendly and efficient. We were happy to see some elements that showed thoughtfulness, such as two regular and two decaf coffee pods for our in-room coffeemaker, and plenty of hangers in the closet. Lighting options in our room were nice, including a floor lamp behind a comfortable chair and footstool. Off the hallway, there is a separate, enclosed glass-walled room containing a vending machine and ice machine, so nobody will have to listen to those noises. Our king bed was very comfortable. We didn't hear any outside noise. We were pleased to access an outside charging station near the front door, so our hybrid/electric Prius could be charged overnight. There are several restaurants within walking distance of this hotel. The only slightly down side to our stay was the buffet breakfast, in that the bacon was undercooked and the hash browns were overcooked. Still, there were plenty of options such as fresh bananas and apples, 3 types of juice, yogurt, eggs, bread and cereal. We expect to stay here again on our next car trip between Florida and Wisconsin.

The Best Wester Plus at Pyramides in Indianapolis was goodei I had a 2 room suite. But found the prices charged for Friday and Saturday night a bit expensive at $170 per night plus taxes. The cost for Thursday was $116 plus taxes. The hotel was clean and the staff courteous. Breakfast was average nothing special, given the restrictions. The hotel had numerous signs posted saying wearing a mask was required, but saw numerous guests ignoring this request in all age groups.
The bed pillows in my room had to be the softest pillows I have experienced in my life. So soft that they served no purpose! That was a big drawback to me. My room was spotless and the bathroom clean.

We arrived here at 1:30 p.m. The man behind the desk asked if we wanted to check in early. We said that would be great because we wanted to leave our bags and go visit the downtown area before the evening baseball game. The man said we would be charged an extra $20 or wait until after 2:30; we decided to go to the nearby McDonald's. When we returned, the man was replaced by Quesha, who was so friendly and welcoming. She asked if we wanted a room on the 1st floor or upper floor and if we'd like to have a bottle of cold water. Quesha was fabulous!!! Our room was clean and the bed was comfortable. There was nothing wrong with this hotel except for the unfriendly man we first encountered behind the desk. Breakfast consisted of the usual: egg omelet, bagels, waffles, etc.

The hotel was very nice. It was currently being renovated but wasn't an issue for us. We stayed in the new part which was verynice. The bed was nicer than my bed at home! The breakfast was better than your regular hotel free breakfast. We loved the free popcorn and soda as well as the snacks and drinks at happy hour. The breakfast area was a prefect place for our team to hang out at night without disturbing other guests. I would definitely recommend this hotel. Hopefully the price stys the same after the renovations are complete.

We saw Drury Inn in the name and automatically thought of the excellent service and rooms which we have come to expect since we stay often at Drury Inns.
However; this is the DISCOUNT Drury Inn.
The kick back was warm wine and a bag of chips. Beer was also offered. Nothing else.
Not the normal kickback. The lobby was clean and offered lots of seating.
The hotel front doors were dirty, shopping cart parked in front, litter throughout the parking area. Well, we booked it sight unseen so inside we went, up the DIRTY elevator ( it also smelled).
The third floor was clean, our room (a corner room) was clean, the bed was comfortable. The restroom was a blast from the past, with single hot/cold faucets, from the 1960’s. Breakfast was the usual with eggs, sausage and biscuits. Muffins were also available.
I will not stay in a Pear Tree/Drury Inn discount chain again, but will definitely stay at the Drury Inn, which I love.
