The Embassy Suites by Hilton Chicago Downtown River North garners mixed reviews, with guests praising its prime location close to attractions and public transit. Clean, modern rooms with adjustable thermostats receive commendation, though noise levels and maintenance issues have been noted. While the staff's friendliness is highlighted by some, others report dissatisfaction with service quality.
The complimentary breakfast and evening beverages are popular amenities, despite criticisms of the pool and towel supply. However, concerns over value for money and inconsistent housekeeping have marred the experience for many travelers.

Hotel's Favorite
This hotel is in the perfect location of River North in Chicago. Walking distance to everything - Mag Mile, restaurants, train lines, etc. There are also two grocery stores a block away in case you want to pick up anything. You truly can't be in a better spot.
The rooms are large, albeit some don't have as much natural light as others. The breakfast offered plenty of options, but we'd recommend getting there early before lines start. This hotel also offers complimentary happy hour which was a nice touch in the evenings.
Where this property really stood out was the staff. Jose at the front desk was incredibly kind, patient, and helpful. Hector was there to assist us with our every needs, and the housekeeping staff were friendly and prompt. Overall they made our stay a pleasant one. Would definitely recommend!

Parking was steep at $69 per day, but the location was perfect for walking everywhere. Lobby to the hotel was beautiful and gym was filled with lots of exercise equipment. The first room we checked into was not yet cleaned, but front desk staff quickly rectified by providing a new room with a complimentary bottle of wine. The buffet style breakfast had many options, but the hot items had a weird taste to them (possible freezer burn?). The cocktail hour was great with many options for a free drink. Some of the channels on the TV weren’t working correctly, but it made me appreciate not having cable at home. The view from N State St was perfect for seeing the city. Overall, I would go back.

I have been staying at this embassy for the last 5 years. On 2/27/2020 I arrived around 10:20 am and attempted to check in. I was told that the room I had selected as HIlton Honors member, wasn’t prepared but a comparable room on the same floor was FOR A $20 early check in fee. Since I didn’t have an appointment until later I decided to wait until later to see if my room was prepared. At 11:30 the room I requested still wasn’t prepared so I agreed to a different room. I paid a $20 early check in fee for a room that was empty, ready and available for a guest to occupy since at least 10:20. This early check in fee is a first in all the stays at this hotel. Nowhere in the various websites is an early check in fee stated. In fact one site states”Early check in may be available if requested at the front desk on the day of check-in.” While I didn’t expressly request an early check-in, it was obvious.. Further the staff member was quite curt.. This fee is a rip-off. There was nothing for staff to to put a guest into that room.

I typically stay at the Homewood Suites a couple of blocks over, but I decided to give this hotel a chance since Embassy Suites is my favorite brand out of the Hilton family. The staff and service was excellent! I had an early flight in and called ahead to inquire about storing my luggage and the possibility of checking in early. I was told I could store my luggage securely, but there was a $20 early arrival fee (annoying since the Homewood doesn't charge). To my surprise, I was allowed to check in at 9am without a fee. I did have to accept whatever room was ready at the time, which happened to be next to the elevator. I didn't complain as I was grateful to get in my room that early with no extra charge.
The hotel itself is beautiful and models the typical ES theme--large atrium, free hot breakfast, indoor pool, fountains, greenery, etc. The room was fine, but the end of the bead spread was a little dirty; the rest of the room was clean. Wifi was reliable. The staff also was able to accommodate me on a late checkout, as I had a later flight. I offered to pay 1/2 day rate to stay until 5, and they let me do so, which was nice.
The only bad thing/warning to others, and this is of no-fault of the hotel staff; but this place is LOUD! With the large suites, and expanded free breakfast, it's a big draw for large families and groups. It sounded like a zoo in there, and other guests I had encounters with acted like animals! Kids screamed and roamed the halls, going up and down the elevators, door slamming, and the atrium design echoes this noise. It's like being in a Holiday Inn Holidome from the 70s/80s if you remember those. Parenting has obviously declined in the 21st century. That's my only complaint, and again, it's not the hotel's fault. I worked as a front office agent for 4 years back in college, so I know how defeating it is when you have a house full of unruly guests.
It's a great hotel, just keep in mind it can be noisy. Do NOT get a room next to the elevator or on a low floor near the breakfast area or mezzanine.

Thank goodness for the quality of associates that choose to work at this particular Embassy Suites near the Miracle Mile! When a mistake was noted in the reservation location, it was seamlessly rectified by the Front Desk personnel. The price point did not change and we got to keep our vehicle parked in the nearby structure.
The room was very clean and well-stocked. Regular cleaning and restocking of toiletries and coffee/tea could easily be arranged with a phone call in the morning for longer stays. The room was reasonably quiet and the city view was spectacular from the 9th floor.
A complimentary boxed morning meal consisting of a hot breakfast sandwich, danish, fruit was available with beverages.
This hotel is within easy walking distance of many restaurants, shopping venues and great things to do.
The experience was truly enjoyable.

This hotel is located in a great place of downtown Chicago. With Valet parking of $69 a day which allows you to go in and out all day beats the prices of the nearby self par garages. There is a Walgreen's, grocery, subway, Chipolata, Weber Grill, Starbucks, and various Italian restaurants within the hotel and in walking distance There is great hot free breakfast. Family friendly happy hours swimming etc. This area is safe well lit and patrolled by Chicago finest. The rooms are big and comfortable made for a family getaway.

This may have once been a luxury hotel, but it needs some major updates and a deep cleaning to remain so.
We stayed in a suite and the room was spacious enough for our family. The breakfast was good, with lots of hot options and plenty of seating.
The room itself could use some new carpet and paint on the walls. The shower needed to be caulked and the shower head dripped incessantly.
The location is good, but there are a number of other hotels in the area that may provide a much better value for your money.

The soothing sound of falling water as you enter the lobby through revolving doors, takes your eyes to the lobby water fall & pool. One of Four elevators whisk you away to your room. They move soundlessly & are built with glass on three sides. The mezzanine(open 6:30-9:30) serves free breakfast. Hospitality hr. begins at 5, closes at 7PM. The atrium over the Mezzanine gives natural lighting. Plenty of water at the shower in your room. Nice frig.: already cold w/we arrived. Suite design (w/ 2 TVs) and blackout drapes. We used all of the storage. Room coffee better than most. Maids helpful & friendly. Reasonable rates for a suite, especially considering free breakfast, & free evening cocktails.

Our family of four stayed at this location for a four night stay. Not only is the location fantastic, but the amenities were perfect. The mezzanine level is beautiful and has so much space that even with a sold out hotel, it never felt crowded. Happy hour and breakfast were extremely well organized with food that was warm and appetizers at night which exceed most any other Embassy Suites. I read so many negative reviews prior to our trip and we just didn’t find any of them to be reflective of our experience. While the rooms could be updated and it sounds like they will, they were clean and functional. We were told there would be no housekeeping, however, our room was cleaned one day. We just brought garbage bags and changed out our towels. The housekeepers were helpful and brought what we needed to the room when they didn’t have extra towels. The attached restaurant is excellent and was perhaps the dining highlight of our stay. I will add that there was some type of “situation” on Saturday evening two doors down from our room. Management was up there in about three minutes and the Chicago PD followed shortly thereafter. It was handled professionally and immediately! Great job by all of the staff ensuring the safety of their guests. Thanks for a fantastic weekend in Chicago. I highly recommend this hotel.

This Embassy Suites is confidently located in the city next to a train stop and within walking distance of many Chicago Landmarks. The hotel offers a free breakfast with made to order omelets as well as buffet items. Unfortunately this hotel does not offer a quiet atmosphere. The walls are thin allowing excessive street noise and room to room noise. I would not recommend this hotel.
