I would recommend this hotel. Especially if you are a (or prospective) Columbia College Chicago parent. You are so close, less than 5 minutes, from their Student Center (where orientation is) and maybe 5 minutes from the book store and their main offices and where you go for the tours. East West University is next door too. Valet is expensive (I think I paid $75/night), but there is a $35 parking garage next door, but I am not sure if there is any in-out privilege. There is no dedicated valet lane, so when you pull over to the right side in front of the hotel, there are people behind you honking to go. Valets were always courteous and friendly. If you are a Bonvoy member, you should be receiving some complimentary vouchers for the restaurant that shares the lobby. However, I did not get it when I checked in. I only overheard someone at the front desk tell another guest when I was waiting for my valet pick up, the last night. Luckily the front desk gave me the vouchers and the restaurant was so kind to cash them all at the same time (different orders). The lobby is small. I never experienced rudeness of the front desk staff (just that ineptness of not knowing privileges of Bonvoy level members), but I met a family that did and they were not happy at all with their experience. The room was clean and modern. There is no vanity space to place your toiletries, though. The view from the gym was pretty. The hotel is pricey, but I suspect all hotels in this area are pricey too. I cannot comment as to value.…
Stayed here with my wife as part of a travel package for a series of concerts at the Auditorium Theater. I’m always wary when things get packaged together like that, so was prepared to show up to a mediocre hotel experience. Happy to report that this was easily the nicest hotel I’ve stayed at in downtown Chicago. With the hotel recently renovated, the room we were in was very nicely appointed - tastefully modern with a very comfortable bed, huge TV, and very nice bathroom layout. The staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel restaurant is quite good and we were given a $15 voucher each day that was good for any meal we had at the restaurant. While the menu isn’t huge, the food we had was nicely prepared and the waitstaff were courteous, professional, and efficient. Would gladly stay here again and definitely plan on doing so the next time we come back to Chicago.…
I paid a 5* price ($600 a night) for 2* service, that especially sucks as an ambassador elite. Room cleaning is only upon advance request, which would have been nice to know from the front desk upon check-in. As a result I didn't get service when I really needed it, and 4pm was apparently too late to ask. They prefer you come to the front desk to pick up laundry and toiletries. As a elite member I was originally put on a low flower and a non-view room. When I asked they actually put me in a higher floor with a view, but why didn't they do that front the start?! Beds are made with cheap synthetic pillows, and at 9pm at night the front desk doesn't have access to pillows or additional sheets. Hard to imagine other hotels in the area could provide worse service that this.
I spent 5 days in and it was excellent, room was so clean, and staff was very helpful especially two Jamses and Tony. In the loby there is a nice restaurant Grand Park Bistro, with graeat service and very nice menu. I would recommend it to everyone!
I got in late and i had made a few mistakes with my online booking and she fixed it and made all better than great. Truly a great face of the brand and and understand hospitality and practices it to the fullest. Thank you Shakeya and your team! Jayson
Just back from a great 6 day stay in Chicago. The hotel was clean and the room was nice and felt newly renovated. We had a big tv and then beds were comfortable. The only problem was that in our bathroom the shower door was improperly installed meaning the door wood be ajar and the floor got very wet everytime we had a shower. We did tell the hotel about it and they said they would send an engineer up to have a look at it but the problem was not fixed. It was only a slight inconvience and didnt effect our enjoyment of the hotel. They do give $15 vouchers to the bar/restaurant on the main level. We tried it twice, firts time the Bud Light was flat, the second time they didnt have Bud Light so had the worse Gin & Tonic. It was however a lovely place to sit outside. All in all i woul recommend the hotel.…
James, Nicole, Jesus, Markel and all the restaurant staff and front desk staff went above and beyond. The hotel was clean and comfortable. The restaurant was very good and convenient. Great location. Highly recommend.
Paid for a deluxe room with city view and was given a cramped room with no view. Switched rooms, but wasn't much better-not sure what we paid more for. Very disappointed to find no pool when we double checked before booking. Staff also wasn't pleasant, wouldn't recommend.
When we arrived to our room I realized it was very dirty, the floor had lots of hair. For the next couple of days they were “under staffed” so they were “unable” to clean the room. Many times I asked for clean towels, shampoo, conditioner…and took fooooorever to come. It’s a very noisy hotel, you can hear every single door opening an closing every time. Also, they have a really rude staff, bad attitude and bad manners. They are NOT understaff, they are overbooked so they do whatever they want. Really really bad experience.
After a trip that had me up and traveling at 3 AM, I arrived on a rainy Chicago morning and was greeted by James at the front desk. He met me with a sunny disposition, and offered me water while he checked me in. He also worked tirelessly to assist me as my room category was inadvertently changed by my corporate travel provider when I added a night to my stay. Though it was not the hotel's mistake, James made it right for me, and was friendly and attentive. The hotel is in a beautiful location overlooking Grant Park. The rooms are clean and modern and the staff so far is tops notch! Especially James! This hotel seems to be a great value!
