Hotel located between several extremely busy arteries, therefore very noisy.
We occupied two different rooms, 1 upstairs near the street, also better to have earplugs = endless noise pollution, and no water pressure flow to shower properly.

2, at the very back so much less noise.

Fortunately, the room and sheets are CLEAN as well as the bathrooms.

The 140 bedding is very bad, uncomfortable, the top sheet is ridiculously small with a very light bedspread / the heating works, only you have the feeling of being in a wind tunnel - low setting - the 3 pillows are very bad qualities, to the point of doing without them.

The reception staff are extremely unpleasant.

Bus stops nearby to reach the subway, but central Chicago is over an hour away.

You can buy the Pass (bus/subway) at WalGreens next door.

The motel looks a bit dated but rooms were clean enough and spacious. Plenty of parking. Indoor pool. Breakfast good. 10 minutes walk to Brookfield station which takes you downtown and tickets only $7 return. Some good places to eat good Mexican food. Microbrewery 20 minutes walk away.

First off we picked this cheap hotel because we just wanted a place to stay after a Cubs game. Upon first sight of the room we were pleasantly surprised. The place has recently been remodeled and the room was actually pretty nice looking. We dropped off our luggage, called a cab and off we went to the game. When we got home after midnight we went straight to bed. In the morning I pulled the sheets back to find that the sheets hadn't been changed in quite awhile. There was what looked like food, dirt, and I'm certain human fluids. I am now sitting here hoping that i haven't contracted any contagious diseases. This has in fact taught me a valuable lesson, check the sheets before you climb into bed.

I stayed here for 3 nights for the long weekend. It's a very simple hotel but it's good for what you are paying.

Pros:
Good price! The cheapest I found for a decent place to stay in Chicago and if you have caa or aaa they have discounted rooms.
Nice remodeled rooms with nice shower (no tub).
Free parking (right in front of our room)
Good location with a walgreens across the street for convenient shopping and close to cubs stadium and Lincoln zoo.
Free wireless internet with pretty good connection (I am currently using it to write this review).
Free coffee in the morning (did not use).
Vending machine with soda cans.
There was a list of nearby restaurants that deliver to the room. So after a long drive all we had to do was use our free local calls room phone and called to the local Thai restaurant and they delivered some delicious Thai food to our room. So that was extremely convenient.
There is an IHOP across the street.
Nice flat screen tv.
The reception guy was friendly.

Cons:
There was no bath tub in the room.
There were a few stains on the carpet.
Few amenities, no pool, no restaurant, no gym etc.
only 6 channels on the tv.

Room tip:
Ask for the ones downstairs because you can park your car right in front and its convenient.

The room looked decent (clearly a recent remodel) at first but I always check the bed before settling in, and that's where I found the issues. The comforter had a dark stain on it. The sheets had a red/brown stain near the pillow. The red freaked me out so we went to complain. They gave us a new room. The second room you could instantly smell weed. Like someone was just in there smoking. Furniture was blocking the door so we could barely get in, even tho there was plenty of room on the other side. And lastly there was burn hole in the comforter. How you make a bed with burn holes in the blanket and not think that it might be an issue makes no sense. We canceled our reservation and demanded to get our money back. Which they did and stayed at another Rodeway by O'Hare.

We have 3 requirements for a hotel:
*It must be clean.
*It must be dry (have roof & keep any rain off).
*It should not feel dangerous to be there.

Based on these requirements, the Rodeway Inn aced it.
But for those of you who may be more selective in regards to accommodations:

The area did indeed feel safe. We had no worries when outside, day or night.
There is a coffee maker, but no small refrigerator. There is a clock radio, but no hair dryer.

There were but 2 towels available, both of which were not hand towels, but not really bath towel size either. There were no wash cloths, no floor mat, and no hand towels. The only toilet paper in the room was the 1/4 roll that we rationed. The bathroom door had a hole in it, and it also would not close completely.

There was no closet, and no place to hang clothing that might require it.

The AC unit was not adjustable--the controls were completely non-responsive. It was set at 66 degrees and on high, but felt like low, and would not change.

The TV...ah, the TV. The screen was a good size, and as such allowed a fine view of the one channel of snow it provided. The remote had 3 working buttons. Well, 2 & 1/2. The on and off buttons worked (yes, actually 2 separate buttons). The volume button did allow you to view the lovely sliding scale on-screen, but did not actually affect the volume in any way. Which is cool, I guess, as snow doesn't make any noise.

There are 2 parking areas. For the love of all that is holy, do not choose the smaller of the 2 (which is the first one you come to heading down Lincoln Avenue). It is narrow and the spaces are angled. While not too difficult to get into, good luck backing out between cars & the hotel and onto Lincoln Avenue into traffic. The lot on the other side of the building is much more spacious. The smaller lot is fine for motorcycle parking, but not great for any size cars.

With all of this said, the Rodeway Inn Chicago was affordable, convenient, safe, dry & clean, and what we really look for is just a place like that to sleep & shower.

If staying there, you have a Chipotle, Potbelly, Walgreen's, IHOP, Jagodinka coffee shop, and more within easy walking distance.

Well It was the cheapest place in a expensive area. The towels are crap and no wash clothes. It does not have good amenities. The bed is not comfortable at all. But if you are just looking for a cheap place to crash after a late night then this will work.

The room was clean and all, but it's the barest room i've ever stayed in. No closet, no shower shelf for soap, no hand towel or washcloths and 5-6 tv stations. I wouldn't stay more than one night. Convenience to the Lake area is all it has going.

When you visit Chicago, your hotel room should not be the destination. This city has so much to offer it is a pity to pay several hundred dollars to just sleep and shower. Also, parking is around $80/day, so factor that into your travel budget! We stayed here for 3 nights for what one night in a downtown hotel would have cost.
If you want a clean hotel with free parking, Rodeway Inn is what you want. Located on the north side of the city, it is easy to go anywhere in the city or suburbs. The hotel is on a major street but traffic was moderate and quiet overnight.
If you are fussy about how many pillows are on the bed or towels, you will be disappointed. The bed was comfortable but only two skimpy pillows. Bathroom linens were limited to 2 bath towels and one face cloth; no bath mat. The front desk was very happy to provide extra towels; you just need to ask. Daily maid service left the bathroom very clean! Walk in shower, no tub. Rodeway Inn is in a safe area, Walgreens (24 hour), Chipolte & Potbelly Sandwiches across the street. At the junction of 2 bus lines, about 2 miles from the Red line at Bryn Mawr.

The picture is exactly what you get. Most of the other reviews are right on target. We recently did TONS of research to find a hotel for one night in Chicago.. tough job. We considered AirBNB for a minute and then decided for the same price and 2 miles further from Wrigleyfield we would try this for one night (plus we were with out kids for a change so we were feeling adventurous). We traveled from Detroit to see the Cubs vs. Tigers. We followed the directions of our GPS and were getting very worried as we passed some very scary hotels, including the police station and hookers. We arrived with great hesitation and I was convinced I was just going to call it a loss and try to find another hotel. So my first comment is don't be scared by the hotels you will pass to get to this one. Also our GPS had us to in the back alley (which was not really a choice), so that added to the "scare" factor. Anyways the room was just fine. I would go so far to say GOOD. Obviously not the best hotel in Chicago but great for one night ( I don't think I could do two... ), especially if you are going to a Cubs game. We parked right outside our room. (tight parking .. but it was FREE the #1 reason to stay at this motel). The front desk lady gave us our card and we entered our room. My only real complaint, that someone else also wrote about, was the opening/ gap at the bottom of the door. I am pretty sure you could slip in a tv dinner. I feel like they just need to add a small trim piece. But anyway. It was nice and clean. Towels were bare minimum ( I took photos). More like 2 hand towels and 2 wash clothes. If you are driving, you may want to bring your own, if you are flying, well it is not worth packing one for an extra $25 bag charge, but you will probably have to drip dry. There was a coffee pot. We didn't use. There was soap and shampoo. Modern fixtures. Shower only, no bath. I would go back ... if I had to. Close to stores/ Chipolte. I rec'd taking an Uber/ Lyft if you need to get to the stadium ($11-$15). Otherwise you will be walking and bus and train. and it will cost you $10 for 2 people anyway. If you are feeling adventurous book this room.
