The Hyatt place Chicago south is a great place to stay for a weekend in Chicago. In the historic Hyde Park neighborhood, you are around everything! Great food near the hotel and great ambiance! You are 15 minutes from downtown and 5 minutes from major expressways. I am from Chicago and whenever I visit home , I stay at this property! You will enjoy staying here!
The Hyatt Place Chicago-South/University Medical Center is a great place to stay if you have meetings in one of the University Medical Center locations. The lobby and rooms are inviting and well maintained. They made our stay more enjoyable through their higher standards.
The process of getting checked in and entering the parking garage for initial entry was a total nightmare. The hotel itself is beautiful. The staff is friendly helpful and responsive. The amenities are well worth the cost; location is a challenge as NO GPS will actual lead you to the address of the hotel. Please call the hotel staff and beg for exact instructions and plan for checking in to be a little more frustrating than standard. Otherwise great stay.
Location of Hotel -Hyatt Place Chicago-South/University Medical Center. I am a frequent traveler and member of higher end hotel chains and airlines. I made a trip to Chicago to spend time with family and wanted to give the Hyatt Hotel Chain a try as they seem clean and updated. However, upon my arrival during check in, I was told by the receptionist working on 9/3/22 that the room I had reserved to accommodate 6 people was sold out and the only rooms they had were 1 King size bed with a pull out sofa bed. I talked to the shift manager Kristopher Askew and told me that was all they had and they could not do anything to fix the situation because I had made my reservation through United Airlines. They offered me to go to a neighboring hotel for $246.00/night if I wanted, but that was on my own since they could not credit me unless I had made the reservation directly with them. After much discontent (to put it lightly) I had to take the 1 king size bed room and put my mother in law, sister in law, wife and two kids in this type of room. The attention to customer was very poor as i had no time to go to another hotel because of time budgets for the evening. They seemed to not care so I had no choice really, but to take that room without compensation after having paid full price at $369.00/night with taxes. I asked for extra pillows and bedsheets for the pull out sofa and they told me it would be 30 minutes @ 1AM to get me some, may be, because they were not sure they had any extras for me! I came down to pick up the sheets myself from the front desk since it would be faster and other people checking in that night were being told the same thing "sorry, the room you reserved is not available".. Needless to say, I will not be paying to stay at this Hotel chain ever...what an experience specially when you're trying to put your family up in a nice place for full price! Breakfast was ok, other than that, very very poor service and experience! Beware of the "sorry you're room is not available and the AC units went out so can't give you that room" …
We were dropping our daughter off at school. The staff were incredibly pleasant and extremely helpful. Appreciated that the breakfast was better than the usual continental fare with ceramic mugs for coffee. Great restaurants within walking distance.
Due to my son being in the hospital this was a great place to stay and close by I recommend this place quiet clean and very respectful staff. Great breakfast in the morning great bed very comfortable. I would stay there again with my daughter thank you once again for everything you guys done for us
Great hotel on Chicago. The hotel was beautiful inside and out. Stayed in the double queen with couch, very great size, beds were comfortable (even the pullout bed). Staff was wonderful and accommodating with all needs or questions. The breakfast was great, the potatoes were magnificent! THANK YOU!
I was very pleased with the location of this hotel as my husband was having surgery at The University of Chicago Medical Center. I was able to take a Lyft or Taxi back and forth. The hotel was very accommodating and understanding of my needs as I didn’t know how long I would need to stay there. Since I was by my self I was a bit concerned about safety but once I was there I felt very comfortable
Room card did not open the door to my room had to make three trips to the front desk just to get in my room and parking garage card never open the gate when you need to get in or get out! It was not worth $40 per day to park at the Hyatt! Do not waste your money on parking at Hyatt!!!!
Common areas are modern and well maintained. Carpets in hallways are dirty and poorly maintained. Furniture worn and shabby. All of the staff members I encountered were outstanding. Great customer service.
