I came to the Godfrey to celebrate my best friends birthday and from the moment we walked in to the moment we left I have nothing but great things to say. Thanks to the Godfrey my friend had one of the best birthdays she can remember and I will forever be grateful because of it. We originally booked a king room and upon check in they let us know that we had been upgraded to a one bedroom king suite since it was available and then after thanking him profusely we let him know we were so happy because it was her birthday and he proceeded to give us a complimentary bottle of wine. The staff was so friendly and accommodating the entire time, it was some of the best customer service I’ve received. We’re baby adults (22/23) with quite a bit of experience traveling as young people and I’ve found sometimes it’s hard to get respect from people especially when you’re in fancy/expensive places but while we were here this was not the case. I felt nothing but welcomed and respected the entire time. The room was beautiful, the bed was comfy and the city view was amazing. The location was PERFECT, everywhere we wanted to go whether it was restaurants or clubs was within 5-10 minutes walking which was very much appreciated since we didn’t have to worry about Uber’s and it’s February in Chicago and no one wants to wear a coat to the club. All I have to say now is a huge thank you to the Godfrey for making my friend feel so special on her day. We live in Chicago and if I ever need another getaway the Godfrey is on the top of my list, I’ll be back!

My husband and I stayed overnight to celebrate our anniversary. We got a King Suite and it was on the 9th floor. The view wasn't the best, but the hotel room was a great price and we booked the same day so I am unsure what availability there was for a room with a better view. The check-in process was quick and easy. The Lobby was very clean and the elevator was as well. Our room was very clean and the bedding and mattress were nice. I took a shower shortly after arrival and my only complaint was that the built in shower gel dispenser was empty. I didn't discover this until after I had already washed my hair. I had to get out and grab the bar soap. Also the toiletries were not L'Occitane as advertised on their website. I did let the front desk know and they supplied me with hotel sized L'Occitane shower gel. There was also only one bathrobe in the room, but my husband was not bothered by that. We had good experiences with the desk staff, the night time door staff, and enjoyed our stay. The rooftop lounge requires reservations and I was able to get a 7:30 reservation that same day by calling. The IO Godfrey Lounge was beautifully decorated, very ambient, guests were spread out and had individual lounge areas for each group. There are winter domes that can be reserved and everyone was respectful and wearing masks. The view was beautiful and I cannot recommend this experience enough. The cocktails were good, but only one was truly exceptional that I tried and that was the bourbonberry lemonade.

This was my third or fourth time staying at The Godfrey Hotel Chicago and I cannot say enough nice things about this hotel. The location is perfect; close to work as well as several places to eat and visit, while just a few short blocks away from Michigan Avenue…can you say shop ‘til you drop!? The Godfrey has a very modern style decor without losing a sense of warmth that its usually missing when you are away from home on business. The rooms are large and clean. The bathrooms are also very spacious and have enough counter space (something that is often missing from hotels). They have a great rooftop bar with an amazing view of the city. Their small plates and drinks are always on point and the service is great! Very accommodating staff and nice space for company meetings. I would confidently recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the Chicago area. I will definitely be staying here again!

My boyfriend and I had booked for a queen room through a Groupon deal. Definitely worth the price we paid, about $190US for 2 nights.
The hotel is located in a central location in the city. There were a ton of restaurants and places near by that were walking distance. Tao Chicago was a 6min walk, literally just around the corner! There was also a transit station near by, about a 5-7min walk. My boyfriend and I went to a Blackhawks game at the United Center and it was approx 15mins away.
The room was a little bit smaller than we had hoped for. However the room itself had everything we needed. The best parts of the room for us was definitely the mini fridge/ minibar area and the view overlooking the city. The only thing that we both did not like was the pressure of the water coming out of the shower head (I know, first world problem). But the pressure of a shower head really makes a difference after travelling all day and sightseeing!!
The hotel had a rooftop lounge/bar that seemed to be very popular on Friday & Saturday Night. There was added security to ensure the safety of the guest.
Parking was available for $60US/ night with in and out privileges. The only issue we had was one night we noticed our car was parked on the street, where we had initially dropped it off. When we approached the valet guy and asked why our car was still parked outside he said “it can stay on the street for an hour.” We went out for dinner and came back almost two hours later and still saw our car parked in the same spot. Approached him again and finally said he would move it into the parking garage.
The hotel itself is very nice and clean. The staff at the lobby and housekeeping were all very friendly and welcoming, easy to approach and talk with.
Definitely would come back and recommend staying at this hotel.

This hotel need to find out how to deliver a better guest experience during this pandemic. Everything you ask for they don’t have it or can’t deliver because of the Corona Virus. They need to either close during this time or lower their prices. Especially not cleaning the rooms, the rooms should be cleaned daily regardless of how long you stay to help prevent spread of Corona Virus. Not pleased with the service here. This is a nice hotel and I think if it were different times I would’ve enjoyed my stay. I’m somewhat disappointed as this was my first time and I’m from out of state.

Did not meet our expectations. Upon check in at 3pm we were told that housekeeping had gone for the day so we could not get linens for the fold out sofa in the suite. There was one pillow and one ratty looking blanket in the drawer in our room. We pressed the front desk through two phone calls and a desk visit to access the housekeeping closet that they first said they had no key to and finally we got what we needed.

One of the elevators in the main lobby was broken when we arrived. Later, both were broken and we used the service elevator which was packed with club-goers going to the roof deck bar. We waited in a long line to access that elevator. At least one elevator was broken the entire time we were there and sometimes even a working elevator would skip your floor and bring you back down to the lobby.

The room was so small and it was a surprise to me because the photographs make the suites look much bigger. When the sofa bed is open there is not an inch of space between it and the TV console in front of it. The lighting was odd, with no light source in the living room of the suite, except for a small desk reading lamp. No place to put suitcases and tiny closet was barely usable for 2 people. Bathroom also so much smaller than those shown in the photos.

Room was not cleaned well with dusty surfaces and areas of the carpet unvacuumed. No maid service for stays under 1 week.

The street noise, even on the 9th floor, kept us up all night. Drag racing, loud music, it was unbelievable. Hotel needs better windows in a city.

All in all very overpriced for what you get. Service and quality do not match the design. This hotel is fine for 20 something party crowd who want to stay up all night, but not for adults who want a quiet, clean and comfortable stay.

I needed new sheets and I had to call three times and wait 8 hours to receive them. My old dirty sheets sat for a day before they removed them. The fitness room had no sanitary wipes for machines which should be standard but there was a Covid waiver that you had to sign to use the gym. Water in the fitness room was warm. Hallways were dirty in the hotel.

The location and atmosphere are great. when checking in we were advised that the restaurant on location ( that also offered breakfast ) had stopped working with them. With a room reservation hotel does charge Urban fee $ 15.00 that provides amongst other things access to fitness center and 2 bottles of water(make sure to ask if that is not offered at check in). Hotel will also put an additional $ 100.00 hold per night on credit card upon check in, charge will be reversed after check out).

The Godfrey Hotel is both beautiful and sophisticated, but where it falls flat is in it’s area of customer service. While the workers were informative for my family, I can’t help but feel lied too, as I booked this hotel week’s ago, and the reservation was all I felt was needed. Charging a whole night to someone if they change their mind on the reservation is absurd, specifically with this passing era of the coronavirus. I’m positive there were still plenty of open rooms available, so telling people that you’ll have to charge them a whole night for changing or cancelling is ridiculous. Then comes the parking as the next issue. Why in the world is the parking structure called “Godfrey Parking” if it’s not associated with the hotel. I essentially have to try to find parking nearby or “jump from meter to meter” as one of the front desk receptionists put it. Otherwise, I had to, which I did have to, pay $51 per day for parking. That alone would have made me go to another nearby hotel and stay there instead. Even the Best Western two blocks day gave me the option to pay $20 a night for their parking. It would’ve been nice to at least be informed prior to booking. Next comes the amenities. $15 per night for amenities? Are you joking? Plus, I’m being informed of this as I am checking out. Give me a break. At least add the costs to the overall reservation when I’m booking. But charging me $15 per night for using water/towels/the TV so my children can watch something while I’m sleeping. I didn’t even use the room service either days. But they also want to charge a $100 security deposit? I never even had the bathroom handle looked at by staff during my stay there, as a receptionist was informed that the door would not close properly due to the handle. Again, beautiful hotel, but be prepared to be gouged by secret costs left and right. For that simple fact, I feel as though my money was wasted, and the probability of me going back there with my family is next to none.

I booked online nd The Godfery was one of the "Hot Rates". I saved about $100 over the normal price. 4.5 start hotel. The money I saved on teh room was spent on their parking. Parking was $60 unless you wanted to walk a minimum of 3 city blocks with your luggage to save $5-$10. When you have numerous bags thats not really an option. $21 for eggs and toast. The phone in the room did not work. I had to go out by the elevator and use that one. Comfortable beds but don't eat/drink anything they have on the tray. You will go broke in 5 minutes. Good location un regards to places to eat and also a beautiful night view of the Chicago skyline. Oh! And you are also charged a resort fee when you check out. They don't even tell you that when you check IN. Soooo...Out of the $100 I saved on teh room by booking a hot rate we spent at least that on parking and resort fees. WON'T recommend the Godfrey. Even if I were one that had money to spare, I would not choose this hotel because they nickle and dime you for everything.
