Detailed Reviews
We have to admit when we first pulled up we were a little surprised as it looked a little older on the outside than what we were expecting. However, we were immediately greeted and helped at the front desk by the most friendly and helpful man. Gave us dinner suggestions and explained perfectly how the process of breakfast, shuttle, leaving our vehicle worked. Our room was somewhat the same- looked old (especially the bathroom) but it was SO CLEAN! The breakfast options were good and the shuttle was right on time. All personnel we dealt with were so friendly and helpful! When we returned home our vehicle was running and warmed up for us with water bottles and a small treat waiting in the front cupholders. We were extremely impressed and would use this hotel for a park and fly again any time we go out of Midway! Oh and if you like doing more of your own food vs eating out there was a mini fridge and a microwave in the room along with a small table/eating area.

We chose to stay here and utilize their stay and park plan where you overnight before a flight and can use their parking lot while you are gone. The price for the room with parking was good....but their service was even better. We had a long drive during rush hour and were stressed upon arrival. We asked about nearby restaurants since we didn’t feel like driving...the gentleman at the desk said don’t worry we’ll take you. That was just the start of a great experience. The van driver was a delight, the room just fine, parking good and when we hadn’t gotten to the desk for our early morning van ride we received a concerned call. Just very nice people, close to Midway and well priced. We’ll use them again.

I usually do not take the time for writing reviews, but this place exceeded my expectations! I did not expect much for the price but their customer service is outstanding from the front desk clerk putting milk out for our kids since we had an early departure before the continental breakfast times. To returning to the hotel to find our car started and warming up with cold water bottles and cookies for all of us to enjoy. To the front desk clerk running out plastic bags and a washcloth to our car since we had a vomiting child and a long commute home!!! This place really goes above and beyond! Will stay again for flights out of Midway!

Where should I begin....
The positive: clean sheets, comfortable mattress.
The negative: this hotel needs a complete overhaul. The room we stayed in was 12'x12' with a small bathroom. The soap dispenser was broken therefore it was empty. One of the staff came to fill it and it leaked all night. Wall paper by the toilet has seen better days and the floor carpet tiles were glued together with tape. The pillows were the size of throw pillows until we requested 2 normal sized ones. The smoke detector was hanging from the wall and I believe they're battery operated although I'm not sure about that. The front door that leads to the parking lot has a gap on the floor letting dust/ dirt come into the room.

This inn suited our needs due to the fact that we flew into Chicago Midway and this inn was nearby and offered an airport shuttle. Unfortunately, our plane was delayed so we landed too late to use the hotel shuttle that evening, but we caught a taxi ($13 one way) which the inn very kindly reimbursed. The room was very small but it was fine for one night, as we were leaving the next morning. Although next to a busy road, the room was peaceful, clean, and comfortable. There is no restaurant (within walking distance) so unfortunately, we went to bed on room coffee and nuts which I had in my handbag. The inn offers a simple breakfast with pastries, cereal, juice, waffles, coffee, and some juice. There is parking available in front of each room which seemed reasonably safe.

The location of the Carlton Inn is convenient if you need to connect to Midway International Airport, as it is one Metro station away. That station, Pulaski on the Orange Line, is about 0.3 miles away. The location is not suitable if the idea is to go to downtown Chicago (45 minutes) or to O'Hare International Airport (the most important one) at one and a half hour.
The hotel is a classic motel, with cars parked around the buildings.
We stayed for 5 nights in a traditional room, with a King bed, a small refrigerator, air conditioning, a table with a chair, flat TV and a microwave. The bathroom was very small, just enough.
The rate includes a simple but adequate breakfast. Coffee, tea, juice, bread, some pastry items. There is a place with tables for this, attended by a very dedicated and friendly person.
In addition to the bad location, it is relevant to mention the poor service we received, and this is objective (with the exception of the breakfast person and some at the front desk). We were supposed to have daily cleaning service. On the first day when we returned, no one had entered to do anything. When we complained to the manager, he told us that we should notify when we left so they could clean, change towels, and make the bed. We did as requested every subsequent day. We returned at night and the same thing, with the aggravating factor that we had left the towels on the floor for replacement, so we had no towels to take a bath. In summary, out of the 5 nights we stayed, they only provided the service once. A disaster.
I would look at other more suitable alternatives to stay in Chicago.

Wonderful service! We stayed here before leaving out for an early flight. Check in super easy and friendly. Room was small but super clean and adequate. Shutter was set up for 5:30 am driver was early with Van started, offered us coffee and loaded our bags. Service from airport just as exceptional. Our car was parked up front with keys inside ready to go. We will stay again.

In Chicago overnight on business, we selected the Carlton Inn Midway for its location and rate. Check-in was quick and efficient. Our accommodations were spacious enough and clean and comfortable. When we returned from our evening out, the parking lot was totally full so parked next door in the bank parking lot (OK'd by the manager). And when we discovered we needed a 2nd set of towels, the front desk brought them right away. The place is a little dated, and it is an unusual configuration of buildings, but it has its appeal.

Upon reviewing the photos and the price for the hotel, it seemed like a reasonable deal. Upon arriving at the hotel, it seems that the photos are misleading.
The receptionist was not very welcoming but did accommodate our request for an upper floor room. When we arrived at the room, we were less than impressed. The carpets were all worn and dirty, the TV didn't work and the bathroom was also dirty.
I telephoned reception and they said they would move us rooms. We had to go to reception and retrieve the key for the new room.
The new room had a working TV and the carpet was less worn, but still not great. The bathroom was still dirty, but overall it was slightly better than the 1st room.
We got the impression that all of the rooms would be the same regardless.
The location of the motel is very good, only a 5 mins walk from the train. There are a few restaurants within the area too.
Breakfast was pretty disappointing. There was one toaster for everyone, and one side of the toaster is broken anyways.
The only options were bagels or cereal. There was some sort of metal container with cheese in it. I think you have to get in early for most of the options, they didn't replenish anything. I had to ask reception for plates. The orange juice and the coffee had ran out, and we had to go into reception to use the coffee there, but it wasn't the warmest.
We had been there for 3 days and no maid service was provided. I asked for fresh towels and was told they would bring some. 45 mins passed and nothing. I phoned again and I was told that they didn't know when they would get towels and I would have to wait. I waited another 15 mins and went to reception. The person told me that they don't have enough staff and can't give me a towel just now. I mentioned that I hadn't had any maid service in 3 days. They told me that I had to ask for new towels, for bins to be emptied and for the room to be cleaned. I've never had to ask for maid service before, usually it just happens! Eventually after 3 conversations and nearly 2 hours I was given some towels, I was also late for a meeting because of this. I wonder if they would have cleaned the room at all in the 4 days we were there if I didn't ask
We had a great time in Chicago, but the Carlton Inn need to up their game.

Do not....I repeat...DO NOT STAY HERE. This place is the worst I have ever stayed in. These pictures on their site are very deceiving. It also is not a hotel but a motel. Schitts Creek meets the Bates motel.
The 1st room they put us in smelled so much like cigarette smoke we put our luggage back out in our truck. Opened windows so we could breath and that doesn't work too well in December with Chicago weather! Curtains had large brown stains, smoke detector was hanging off the wall, mold in the bathroom, big hole in the tub which was missing a cover, mattress lumpy and when you sat on the bed it squeaked loudly. I could not even stand in the room let alone sit or sleep in it. We had them change our room.
Room 2 at least smelled better but this time no smoke detector, mold in the bathroom, everything is just dirty and grimy, floor had sticky stuff all over, curtain rod was barely hanging on the wall. Microwave had finger prints all over by the touch pad, hair all over the bathroom. Bed was lumpy and squeaky. Toilet paper just sits on the back of the toilet as there is no roll holder in the holder on the wall.
We only stayed for the shuttle service to midway and the parking while we were gone.
We spoke with another couple that was doing the same stay/park package and they were thinking the same thing as we were. "How could anyone give this place a good review?"
The only thing going for it is that the staff, for the most part, is friendly and helpful but shame on the owners for keeping this property in this condition and false advertising.
