City Suites had all the basics expected in a hotel. Our room (King suite) was spacious and comfortable. We had originally booked a standard queen, but received an email offer to upgrade to King Suite for $15 just a few days before our trip. The hotel is well located, away from downtown, but right next to the Belmont train station. Even though the station was literally on the other side of the wall from our room, noise was not an issue. For us, it was a quick overnight while attending a show around the corner at The Vic Theatre, but it is a spot we would consider again for a longer visit to Chicago, when wanting to avoid the expense of the downtown area. There are several eating options within walking distance, and Wrigley is also walkable. Front desk staff were friendly, and though we did not have any issues that needed attention, we definitely got the impression that they would have been ready to help if we did.

Even though this is an older hotel, it doesn't feel that way when you're staying here. They have made many upgrades and maintained it well. They have new and modern fixtures that make it feel clean and comfortable. The room was super clean, no peeling paint or broken-down, dirty looking stuff. Bed and pillows are really comfortable. Bath was large and super clean, with bottles of soap to use.
The staff was incredibly helpful to me, a person who doesn’t travel on my own - especially in an unfamiliar large city. They helped us navigate to the theater using the L, even providing us printed directions.
Parking is available off-site. This is the trickiest part to navigate. We had to pull up in front of the hotel. Then they gave us a pass and directions around the block to the garage. It was not far but not on the property.
Lobby was nice on a chilly night to get hot tea (not just coffee like most hotels). There is a fireplace and tables (in case you want to bring in some food).
I would never usually give an old place a 5 but they certainly deserve it.

We recently stayed at City Suites Hotel, and I must say it was a pleasant and cozy experience from start to finish. The front desk host - Elena was incredibly welcoming, friendly, and attentive, making check-in a breeze. The room was spotless and well-appointed, with a very comfortable bed and all the amenities we needed for a relaxing stay. The hotel's location is perfect— next to the Red Line and easy access to local restaurants and theatres. We needed to be at Masonic Hospital helping family member hospitalized there and the location of this hotel helped us a lot... It's only a few minutes walking distance. We would love to visit this place again during summer and the Cubs season.

This review is much like others I have read. It only matters if you are one to complain. I parked through the spothero app at 3211 N Wilton Ave, about 30 seconds walk from the hotel, once I read other reviews about parking. The coffee was hot and fresh. The room was clean. The mattress was very firm and the pillows too big to use comfortably. The elevator is small and I had a room on the 2nd floor so I used the stairs about 1/2 the time. The shower wasn't great. This is not a 5 star hotel. I paid $200 to stay in a clean room of an older hotel with quirky decor that spoke to this 80's girl at heart. We were attending a performance at The Vic theater just around the corner. This more than suited our needs. Surrounded by restaurants and little shops, we had plenty to see until our concert started. The walls are thin and the upstairs neighbor stomped like an elephant in roller skates. I wouldn't stay here longer than a couple nights but as someone who has paid 3 times as much for an overnight in Chicago, I'd choose city suites any time.

Liked · The location was great as we were visiting Clark Street Christmas bars! There are also many restaurants and everything you could need within walking distance. Check in was easy and there is an elevator. There was 24 hour coffee in the lobby and a microwave. There were 2 refrigerators in the King Suite...one as a very affordable mini bar and another for leftovers from Chicago deep dish leftovers! (delivered) The hotel was directly next to the train, but train noise was not an issue. (We did check and the train to ORD was 1hr. and 21 mins.) The rooms are heated by radiators, which work perfectly and the air conditioning is in the wall and controlled by the room occupant. The bathroom/shower was newly remodeled and loved the bright light! The bed was pillow top and super comfortable! There was parking available but we used spot hero easily.
Disliked · It was a wonderful stay. Maybe an easy quick to grab breakfast item would have been helpful? Although I recommend going to Ann Sather restaurant before 3pm. Dropping off luggage was a challenge before parking, but the second time around the block, no problem.

Dear Janeenh, Thank you for taking the time to share your detailed review! We’re delighted to hear you enjoyed your stay and that our location, amenities, and comfortable accommodations contributed to your positive experience. It’s great that you found the King Suite’s features, like the dual refrigerators, and the 24-hour coffee station convenient during your visit. We appreciate your suggestions for improvement, including an easy grab-and-go breakfast option and the challenges with luggage drop-off. Your feedback is incredibly valuable, and we’ll take it into consideration as we continue to enhance our guest experience. Thank you for recommending Ann Sather—it's a favorite for many of our guests! We hope to welcome you back again soon for another enjoyable stay.

My husband and I visit Chicago frequently, having met there years ago. We love the city! We usually stay downtown, but this time wanted to be close to the new home of a good friend. That’s what led us to book at City Suites Hotel. Yes, the hotel is older and small, but the rooms are nice and cozy, and staff are friendly and attentive. The mini-bar prices are very reasonable, and while there is no restaurant, the neighborhood is filled with those of many cuisines. The hotel offers coffee and tea 24 hours a day as well. A warm shout out to Elena at the front desk. She’s really special and a great sales woman for the hotel and neighborhood!

We stayed here over Christmas for 11 days while visiting our son and his family in Lakeview. The suite suited our needs and Elena at the front desk was always warm, smiling, very kind and accommodating to our requests. The room was clean and attended to and the price was right. I would have preferred a coffee machine in our room but the 24- hour coffee and drink bar in the lobby sufficed . We would stay here again.

This is an older hotel in a great location. Plenty of Restaurants and stores nearby. It's about a 15 min walk to Wrigley Field. The decor is older and a bit dated but very comfortable. The room was clean and had everything you might need. Small mini fridge and a small reasonably priced mini-bar with snacks. Room Service was a third party company with late night delivery and a solid variety of food options. AC and heat both worked well. My room 421 had a window but looked directly into the wall of another building, my friends room 426 looked into some neighbors backyard. The hotel is 2 or 3 doors down from the metro station and trains can be heard as well as loud people on the platform. Each of the staff we encountered were very nice, helpful and welcoming. This is not a high end hotel with tons of amenities but for the price and location I would definitely stay here again.

Dear Guest, The satisfaction of our guests is our top priority, and we are so happy to hear that you enjoyed your experience at The City Suites Hotel. While our location provides convenience to an array of local attractions and dining options, it does not provide all our rooms with a better view of our lovely city. We have King and Queen rooms facing the front of the building that might be more to your liking. It was our entire team's pleasure having you stay with us. City Suites is the best. Friendly service, courteoud all around, and conveniently located. I love this place. The L train is next to the hotel and there are numerous places to eat and drink within easy walking distance. Stay here if you want to avoid the mega hotel feel in favor of a more homely vibe.

No laundry facilities that we were aware of. No breakfast but there are so many places close by that you can try. Not sure about the parking. We rode the L the whole time and it worked out great. The transit system is pretty extensive so it's easy to use and get around. Save your $40 and experience the city.
Yes, we do.
