Hyatt Place Chicago/Wicker Park garners high marks for its pristine, contemporary rooms boasting city vistas, although some guests mention noise as a drawback. The hotel's service is widely applauded for its friendliness and efficiency, enhancing the guest experience. Its prime location is a hit among travelers, offering easy access to local attractions and events.
While the rooftop bar and complimentary breakfast are favorites, the valet parking fees receive some criticism. Despite this, many find the hotel's offerings provide good value overall, with cleanliness and modern design being standout features.

Detailed Reviews
Staff: I had the pleasure of having GM (Adam M) as the first person I interacted with at the property, and he is a gem of a person. I could see how he was interacting with the guests and how he genuinely cared and remembered them. Next day, I bumped into the Asst GM (Alec), and he was absolutely the same personality in GM's footsteps. You could tell how they were such a good team.
I was stunned by how focused and attentive the entire staff was. They took such good care of me. The front desk team (Steph + African American guy) were both attentive, cheerful and always remembered to follow up on my requests. In fact, sometimes, Alec would himself show up at my door for a service request to ensure I got things in under 2 minutes. At one time it took him 5 minutes, and he apologized for the delay - how sweet!
The housekeeping staff was even more exemplary. They were all smiling (behind the masks) and happy. One of the times during full service they saw that my toothpaste was almost over and got me a new toothpaste. Those little details! I also had a dog, and they came back to put in a towel in dog's food area to keep it clean and presentable. The housekeeping lead was super interactive and always a step ahead in keeping the needs of the guests in mind.
They are also not stingy and DO NOT use COVID as an excuse to cut down on service. I got everything I asked for including service when I needed. I was very impressed about that.
Property: Property is new (June 2020 build), and is well kept. It has 55" TVs and Chromecast set up for me to cast my devices without having to log in into my netflix/hulu/amazon on screen. The quality of material used in the room is fresh and bright. They also provided me a microwave on request, which made my long stay very easy. The beds are heavenly - soooo comfortable and provide the best sleep. Another part I really appreciated was the abundance of plugs around the couch, desk, and bed. Very well designed. The gym is very well kept and has enough equipment.
It also has Kennedy Lounge, which I wasnt able to use during this stay, but I cant wait to come back to. Once COVID is over and the weather gets better, this will be popping!
Location: Some rooms have the skyline views to die for. I watched sunset every day and it was my favorite part of the day. Also, it is right off the highway close to the wicker park action.
Parking is outsourced/expensive ($45), but find free street parking on Ashland and paid parking on North Ave.

We were uncomfortable with the idea of staying in a hotel in Chicago during the COVID-19 pandemic but needed to return our DePaul University student to his apartment from out of state. I called a half dozen hotels in the Lincoln Park/Lakeview area in advance to find out what kinds of safety protocols were in place. The person on the phone of Hyatt Place/Wicker Park was warm, welcoming, and reassuring about my concerns, so I felt fairly confident in making the reservation. When we arrived, we were very pleased to be warmly welcomed by everyone from the parking garage to the front desk to the housekeeping staff, all of whom were wearing masks and maintaining social distancing protocols. The hotel itself is brand new, very clean, and very comfortable. Our room was crisp and contemporary with great natural light, as well as black-out blinds that were the best I've ever encountered in a hotel. The hotel is located on a fairly busy street but the soundproofing from the sixth floor where we were was surprisingly good - we were able to sleep well. The rooftop terrace/bar area with its comfortable seating and fireplaces was spectacular. We enjoyed the Chicago skyline views with cocktails in the evening and our coffee in the morning. The best aspect of this hotel was the warm, friendly service across the board. In particular, the two women who were managing food/beverage and housekeeping approached us more than once over our stay, introduced themselves to us by name, and asked if there was anything they could do to make our stay more comfortable. We felt that the positive, upbeat vibe of the staff added greatly to our relaxation level and enjoyment at a very stressful, challenging time in our lives. We travel to Chicago often to visit our son and have decided that this hotel is our new first choice! We will definitely be back.

Our family enjoyed the customer service from the helpful security guard, Jules; the warm-welcoming receptionists, Anthony and Kara (?) (she had long, brown hair); and the friendly kitchen staff Maria (female, Hispanic). Apologies if I offended anyone with my descriptions, I honestly forget everyone's names.
The lobby and room were beautifully decorated and styled.
The area of feedback I'd provide is providing parking information ahead of time via telephone and email to reiterate that hotel parking has a fee. In addition, this is a personal preference but having the room floor swept or dry mopped where there guests don't have dark marks from walking barefoot.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay especially with our puppy who visited Chicago for the first time. We appreciated the staffs' service and the lovely complimentary break. We'll be back soon!
Thank you!

We stayed here for 5 nights while bringing my son to college. The first thing about this hotel is that there is no obvious ground floor entrance. There is just an entrance to a parking garage. You have to walk through the garage to get to the elevator to get to the lobby on the 7th floor. Our cab was confused and ended up dropping us across the street because he couldn't figure out how to get in. Later our Lyft driver called us to ask how he could meet us. When my husband first arrived from the subway (we traveled separately) he walked right past the hotel before figuring out he had missed it. This seems very odd in an urban hotel in a neighborhood built for pedestrians. It is the perfect location to make the street scape friendly to pedestrians rather than an gray concrete entrance made for cars. Also, I imagine it can get pretty cold standing there while waiting for a ride in a Chicago winter.
So. . . my first impression was not very good. However, the staff was kind and helpful, our room was comfortable and quiet, and the location is near lots of restaurants and right on at least two bus lines and a half mile walk to the train. Very convenient. There was no maid service due to COVID, but there were plenty of thick towels to last us for five nights.
The set-up is like every other Hyatt Place. The rooms have a refrigerator but no microwave. For the life of me, I don't understand why they don't put a floor lamp in the sitting area so you don't have to bother your roommates with a bright overhead light if they are in bed. Maybe someday the chain will listen to me.
Unlike other urban Hyatt Places I have stayed in, there was no guest laundry, so heads up, since I assumed all the properties in the chain have them. There is also no 24 food bar. Instead, they have a rooftop bar, which is quite lovely, but has limited hours and food options. Everything I had though was quite delicious. I did sit out there when they weren't busy, but I felt weird taking up space, so ordered something anyway. I wish there was a section reserved for hotel guests who didn't want to order anything. They do sell a handful of snacks at the front desk.
Breakfast had less variety than the chain did prepandemic, but I was happy that they even served a hot breakfast at all these days. The breakfast staff was very efficient and very pleasant, always seeming to bring a new urn of coffee the very second the old one ran out!

Very nice hotel. The staff was very nice. I loved the roof top patio. The room was clean. The workout area was clean and they had individually packaged headphones to hook up to the treadmill. You can find parking on the street to avoid the $45 charge for parking in the hotel but you need to get back to the hotel at a decent time to find street parking.

We selected the Hyatt/Wicker Park for our college drop of experience. The space was convenient, clean and quality shopping options are available within a 10 min. drive. The front desk staff was very good and responsive to our needs, bottled water was plentiful and the attentiveness to cleanliness in the lobby area was attractive. I was surprised at the toiletries and in-room art for a new property, the art seemed to have some wear and tear. The valet services were friendly, attentive and professional - we noted how responsive they were. We didn't anticipate providing advanced notification of being a DePaul family, we will do that next time. We slept well, overall very good stay.

+1
We stayed in this hotel in June 2020. The hotel is brand new. The location is great with a lot of restaurants nearby. It’s at the corner of two busy roads. So, sometimes you can hear the traffic noise, especially if someone honks (yes, people honk in Chicago).
The breakfast (during this covid-19 pandemic) consists of wrapped Turkey sandwiches, Greek yogurt, cereals and fruits. You can bag those items.
We like their fitness room a lot. It’s well equipped with high quality equipment.
The valet parking costs $45 per night. You maybe can find cheaper parking spots using Spothero nearby.
The staffs are friendly. There are three elevators serving the whole hotel. The Kennedy rooftop offers a nice view of Chicago skyscrapers.
Overall a good hotel in a nice neighborhood.

Loud location. Earplugs were included, just something we'd have preferred to know BEFORE dropping $710 on two nights. Breakfast was okay- your typical hotel bfast fare. The rooftop bar was closed for a party our first night, and the bartender seemed swamped with it. Drinks were$12 for a single beer, I don't want to know how much mixed drinks were. Room and halls were clean. We were told housekeeping would not come by unless we requested it due to stay duration which was fine. Our last day there 3 hours before check out housekeeping knocked, yelled "Housekeeping!" And immediately tried to open the door. We had the additional lock, thankfully. When she tried and couldn't open it she disappeared before we could say "No thank you". 30 minutes later she did it again. We weren't checked out, it was hours prior, and who tries to walk in before you even check with the people?! That was annoying. I know she was doing her job, but they should know at a minimum when people are ready for someone to enter, especially when I had to go to the front desk to get more coffee. Valet was amazing, but very expensive. I shouldn't have to pay $45/day for parking when I'm already paying $300/ night for the room. It was a nice clean space, but between the cost ($800 with fees and parking) and the noise, we won't be back. We couldn't grab lunch or drinks all day ( if they had an hours window, we missed it which is our fault, just an annoyance).
