Detailed Reviews
My husband and I stayed for one night at the Wheelhouse Hotel in February. We were impressed by the helpful staff and stylish rooms. The decor was unique and colorful. The location is perfect for anyone who plans to attend a game in the summer. We noticed a large ice skating rink right down the road which could be fun in the winter.
Some things to note: even though it was off-season, Clark St is very busy with many party bars. We could hear a lot of partying and yelling outside our window until early in the morning. If you can't easily tune out music and voices, you might want to request a room on the top floor and wear earplugs. You might also think about bringing a travel fan or something to create white noise.
Our room was neatly decorated with black and white checkered tiles in the bathroom and a rainhead shower. I would guess that all bathrooms have barn doors that slide open on rollers because we could hear the door rolling from the floor above us. The barn door design takes up less space, but it isn't a quiet choice. One suggestion I have would be for the hotel to install simple hooks on the inside of the bathroom doors. Ours did not have any sort of lock.
We had a king bed which was definitely on the firm side. The king bed does take up a lot of space in the room, and my husband hit his leg on the corner of the bed twice. (It takes some people a little longer to learn!) If you need a lot of space, you might want to select a different room.
The lobby area is nice and relaxing. Lots of sofa space to read or drink coffee. Please note that the hotel restaurant is not open at this time. From what I could tell, it looks like it's going to be really awesome when it does open. There are plenty of bars and restaurants up and down Clark St. so it wasn't a problem for us. The hotel offers free Cracker Jack snacks (in a bag) which was appreciated.
Parking -- note that the hotel does not offer any parking. I used the Spot Hero app to secure parking in the Addison and Clark garage which is located right down the street from the hotel. The garage is super nice and well lit. I paid $18 for 24 hours.
Overall, we had a really nice stay at the Wheelhouse and hope to return when the restaurant is open.

My husband and I and our 3 boys stayed here for 3 nights as we attended a Cubs game & visited my brother who lives near by.
This hotel has a fun baseball theme, with clean modern rooms.
However, there is no staff on site. The kitchen/bar was closed, no valet/ hotel parking and had problems using the keyless entry.
Wondering if this hotel suffered from the Covid shutdown?
We stayed in a queen room with a bunk bed.
The room was very small, no sitting area, but had a large patio with 2 chairs. Rooms were not cleaned everyday and fresh towels were given on request only when housekeeping arrived on sight after 2pm.
The only staff member we saw was in the evening when he sat at the front desk helping guests unlock their rooms because the keyless entry was not working.
This hotel is a couple blocks from Wrigley Field which is great but in the middle of party central.
If you are looking for a hotel near Wrigley I would suggest the Zachery Hotel. It’s right across the street from the stadium in a new building away from the crazy bar scene but still in the heart of Wrigley.

We read the negative reviews of the hotel, and thought once we get checked in, we'll be fine. But, there was NO ONE on site at the hotel. EVER! Front desk was abandoned. You had to call and leave a message and maybe someone would call you back. Room keys were in a lockbox attached to a fence next to the hotel. They were difficult to access. There was also an app to download on your phone that sometimes worked on the front door or your room, but sometimes not. You never knew what would happen. Same with the room keys. We got stuck in the hallway outside our room one night because the key card stopped working. Took about 20 minutes for someone to call us back. We had to uninstall the app, and reinstall with a new link sent to us. It definitely made us think twice about leaving the room.
Also the lobby/restaurant is under construction, so there is not even coffee! No Kuerig in your room, no water in the lobby. We had to go find coffee every morning. We did find ice after rummaging around in the kitchen. They did bring a bucket of drinks the first night-Coors Light, mini wine, White Claws, but not what we would drink. The second night they asked our preference, but didn't bring what we suggested. Why even ask?
The only good thing is our room was very nice. It was a good size, large bathroom, nicely decorated. The hotel is on a busy street, right across from all the party bars, so if that's your scene, it's awesome. If you want to go to sleep at a decent hour, bring ear plugs!

I’m only giving 1, because you can’t give zero. What an absolute shambles. The hotel was locked. We called the number on the lobby door and waited 20 minutes for a reluctant cleaner to open the door. We then sat for half an hour in the lobby, for someone to help us. They were really rude on the phone (when eventually they answered) and we never got a chance to see our prior booked, $350-each rooms. It was a bizarre experience - there was literally no one there.

We had made a reservation through Expedia for two night at this hotel on Father’s Day weekend weekend. But we never stayed at the hotel because we could not even get in the front door! Beware: this hotel does not have any staff on site; everything from check-in to accessing guest rooms is done online and through phone apps. It is not a simple process, nor does the technology work as it should. More than two hours after our online check-in, we would not even get into the lobby of the hotel or get any response to phone messages and texts regarding our plight. Finally we gave up and found another hotel nearby were we were able to get a room. Later we finally heard from the Wrigleyville Hotel with the promise of new texts that would solve our original problems. We responded by saying that we were no longer interested, having had found a new hotel due to their incompetence and lack of responsiveness. The nameless individual on the other end of this conversation merely responded with an “ok,” not offering apologies or concern about our ordeal… a refund of nearly $500 we had paid in advance through Expedia. After failing to find any way to get a response about a refund from the hotel, I tried to get one from Expedia. They attempted to contact the hotel on multiple occasions to no avail. As a result, based on the flawed terms of service with Expedia, no refund from that entity was possible either. So there you have it. We will never, ever again deal with Expedia or the Chicago Hotel Collection. Consider yourself warned (I just wish someone had warned me before this nightmare occurred).

The hotel isn't staffed. Check in was a disaster. The room and location were good. On the second day our key stopped working to the front door of the hotel and our room. It took them over 2 hours to get us in our room, something that would take five minutes at a real, actually staffed hotel. Consequently we missed our dinner reservation I made three months earlier. They also force you to pay a daily amenities fee at $34.00 a day. Then they have the baseball's to text and ask if want your daily drink bucket. That's a lot of money for a Bud Light and a Mango White Claw. If this place was $100 a night I could look past the multitude of shortcomings. But at $450 a night it's a total ripoff.

Stay away from this hotel unless you plan to check in between 4 and 8pm
Their ‘remote customer assistance’ means there is no staff at the hotel until 3-4pm.
This would not be so bad if they picked up the phone. But I called +10 times and no-one picked up. Other guests complained about the same thing. So I am stunned this hotel has any high ratings as it is not cheap at all.

I was in Chicago for one night for work, about 36 hours. The amazing staff at The Wheelhouse Hotel were very accommodating and gave great entertainment/dining advice to make my short trip something worth remembering! When I return to Chicago for leisure I will definitely try to stay with them again.
Also, the view of the skyline from the rooftop is awesome!

I usually do not write hotel reviews, especially negative ones, but feel I need to warn anyone considering staying at this hotel.
First, there is no staff at the hotel; all is done remotely. This does not have to be a problem in and of itself (although it does make for a highly impersonal and weird experience), but the problem was that no one was available as needed. We were locked out of the hotel due to a failure of the virtual key system and had to call someone who tried to help us remotely navigate lockboxes, codes, doors that did not open .... A very unnecessary experience.
What made matters worse, was that in order to check in remotely and obtain the virtual key in the first place, one has to sign up for an "Amenity Package" which has a daily surcharge of $40. The "package" supposedly included complimentary drinks (I ordered and waited 1.5 hours for ours to show up; they never came before we had to leave), and supposed use of peloton bikes and yoga mats (again, to to be arranged remotely - no sign of them) and the use of one additional key card to the room. Considering the very poor service, or better phrased, non-service we received, I asked management to have the fee waived. They refused.
It is a shame, because the hotel is cute enough; the location fine (not a baseball fan myself, but central area to the northern neighborhoods of Chicago); the bed comfy and the bathroom new and clean. These were not the issues. What is the problem is the utter lack of service and accountability on the part of management.
All to say, beware peeps!

first of all, there is no on-site staff at the facility and everything is digital. it took us a very long time to get into the building. Since there is no staff on site, you have to communicate with staff via text message (which is very frustrating because it took 20 to 30 minutes just to get ahold of the staff). there is a phone number they gave us to call if you need any help. we called it several times and it just goes to the phone in the lobby (which there is no staff in the building at all, so that doesn’t help anything). the rooms are small. there is no fridge or microwave in the rooms. they give you normal room keys to get into the building and your room, but for some reason ours wouldn’t work and we had to use digital keys which only worked after several attempts of trying to open the door. the hotel is in a good location close to bus stops and the train station, but the quality of the hotel was just very awful. I would rather pay more money for somewhere with staff available on site and more amenities.

Hi all, I’ll answer my own question:
Checkout is at 11am but they allow a late checkout of no later then noon upon request. They did store my bags for me, also upon request.
They couldn’t have been more helpful.
I hope this helps future travelers.
Hey, Jeremy. Thank you for your interest in The Wheelhouse Hotel. We do not offer valet parking, but we do work with a surface lot one block away where you can park your car yourself. We would also recommend checking out the garage at 3511 N. Clark St. as well as SpotHero.
