We stayed here one night after seeing an opera at Lyric Opera. The hotel is about one block from the opera house. It's unbelievably convenient. But it's also a well-run, pleasant hotel with friendly staff. The room was clean, the bathroom was spacious, we didn't hear any noise from adjacent rooms, and we could adjust the heat in our room. The breakfast was very nice, with fresh fruit, three waffle makers, yogurts, hot and cold cereal, bagels, some small muffins, scrambled eggs, turkey sausage, and some sort of Mexican breakfast item with pork. My only complaint is that the breakfast didn't include any bread or bagels that were whole-grain. There was some of the thin sliced bread that was slightly tan, trying to look whole grain. Some truly whole wheat or pumpernickel bagels or bread would have been a great addition. In the grand scheme of things, this is minor. It's a great hotel in a good location in the western part of the Loop, a 15 or 20-minute walk from the Art Institute and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra hall.

Hello, Thank you for this wonderful review! Now knowing that you were attending an event at the Lyric Opera you could't have made a better decision than staying with us. Being one block away makes getting to and from the Lyric a breeze. I am also pleased that you took notice of the quality of staff that we employ at our property. They are fantastic, extremely knowledgeable about the hotel and the city as a whole. Next visit, be sure to pick their brain for a good dinner recommendation. Regards, - Gary

We were pleasantly surprised at how great this hotel was in terms of location, cleanliness and comfort. We had recently stayed at a much more expensive and “fancier” hotel in the city and we felt this LaQuinta was way better than even that hotel. We had a corner suite on the 8th floor and it was extremely large with 180 degree views of the city. We highly recommend this hotel.

We are currently staying at this hotel in room 825.On arrival, staff were very friendly. Our King-Suite was very clean & spaciours with no noise at all (apart from the A/C unit and fan) Room has a good fridge and microwave,a coffee maker and coffee etc but no kettle for boiling water for Tea. Towells were plentyfull & hot water was very good in the large shower.Bed was so comfy & soft. Good selection of tv channels. Ice making machine on all odd floors and also floor 8 our floor. Willis tower is a 5 min walk.We did the roof Skyview as soon as it opened 9am and the place was empty. Great photo chance in the glass pods that hang off the 103rd floor as time was not an issue (only 1 minute given in the pods when busy) cost was $52 for both of us. Lovely Bar & food 5 min walk off Wells from hotel, also another just around the corner from that. Have had a great short stay in this city, but tomorrow we head by Amtrak to San Fransisco.

We selected this hotel based on reviews of its good location , condition of the rooms and that the breakfast was included , I did my reservation directly on the Wyndham website so there could not be excuses upon check inn of 3rd party sites booking which I have heard many horror histories on that topic .
The first surprise was upon arrival as they told me that the breakfast was not available, but it had been a main decision point to stay there.
Even my reservation confirmation once again directly from Wyndham stated breakfast included, however there was no adjustment in the fare so to me this is very misleading and deceiving to guests, if you are not including the breakfast you should then correct that in all sites so the potential guests can have true and correct information .
I am a Wyndham vacation club owner and I was denied to use my points because it had to be with two months in advance, so with a pandemic how frequently can you plan a vacation with two months in advance.
They also charged me for early check inn , I accepted the charge as we had been up since 1:30 AM and could really use a little rest and freshen up .
On the good side the hotel is very well located , was very clean and the staff gave good service , however is an example of why being a Wyndham vacation club owner it’s not worth it anymore.

LaQuinta is my go to hotel when I am in Chicago. I am always pleased with all aspects of my stay. They are located right next to the Poetry Garage so I make online reservations for my car and I receive a discount because I am staying in LaQuinta. I am very please with the service, room, food, wifi and privacy I get at LaQuinta. I highly recommend this hotel.

The location is five star for touring the museums, the Bean, Willis Tower etc. Bus 146 takes you straight to the Shedd and Field Museum. A short walk to Union Station if your arriving by train. The front desk staff, Joe, Tom and others could not have been more helpful. Uber assistance, restaurants and useful advice. The rooms are satisfactory and much more budget friendly than nearby than other hotels within a few blocks. The Covid situation has eliminated the breakfast and daily room cleaning, but the desk will give you all the extra towels you want. We went to explore Chicago and not spend time in the room and were quite satisfied.

Apparently, since Wyndham bought La Quinta, a few hotels are no longer pet friendly. The one in downtown Chicago is one. This page sites it as being pet friendly, and it showed up in a search for “pet friendly hotels near Illinois Tech”. We got here w two dogs to find this out. The staff was very friendly. The manager allowed our medium sized dogs for the 2 nights of our reservation with $100/dog deposit. Better than trying to find someplace else last minute. The room was nice and clean. Beds comfortable.

This hotel is located in the center of downtown Chicago very convenient by subway, bus, car. A variety of restaurants and entertainment nearby. I suggest Ping-pong game and bar on Clark St. Jazz clubs are all around downtown. The hotel has a great workout facility and it's open 24 hours. I'm a frequent traveler and La Quinta free breakfast in comparison to other hotels is the best. The staff is customer service is top notch, accommodating to your needs and very efficient. Did I mention Noodles restaurant is right inside the hotel. The rooms are very clean, spacious, and contemporary in decor. The window view for me helps me to focus and gives me a feeling of a vacation instead of a business trip. Stay, Play, and Work.

I always stay here while passing through Chicago on my way to the West Coast because I usually travel via Amtrak and the Hotel is very convenient to Union Station. It is about 5 to 6 Blocks away from the station so I do not have to concern myself with cabs or such. The Rooms are VERY clean and the Front Desk staff has ALWAYS made sure my bags were stored safely as I usually arrive early in the morning before my room is ready. I have no complaints at all with this Hotel except that hard bathroom soap is not provided in the bathroom, you have to use hand soap. This is a minor issue however! The Hotel is located in the heart of the LOOP on Franklyn and as a Business and Retail area,it can be difficult to find Restaurants for eating. Final thoughts-Good Hotel for the price and the location to Union Station.

Hello, Thank you for your return business and for sharing your experience with us. I couldn't agree more, if you are traveling in or out of Union Station we are the location for you. I apologize if your room this time around did not have any bar soap in the room. Each room should be equipped with both bar soap and body-wash. We'll keep up the hard work and we look forward to your next visit. Regards, - Joe

While this hotel was well located for our purposes, the level of service was almost non-existent. Since there was not daily maid service, in fact none for our 5 day stay, you had to go to the front desk for supplies....such as tissues, toilet paper and shampoo. We just sucked it up on the towels and made what they gave us last. The included breakfast was a joke....not well stocked small variety of packaged goods, not of the best quality.

Hello, Thank you for taking the time to review your visit. I apologize that my staff didn't clearly state our Covid housekeeping policy. Currently we are only cleaning and sanitizing rooms before arrivals and after departures not while the guests are checked in. I am also saddened to see that you did not enjoy our complimentary grab and go breakfast. We appreciate your feedback and your business. Regards, - Joe

Yes, it's very nice with hot and cold foods. The staff served the hot food to your plate. I had some great sausage gravy & biscuits on 10/30/22

The smoking area is to the right of the front desk through some double doors. Its in a quiet spot between two buildings off of the street. You have the street view, but its tucked away about 60 feet or so from the street.

We stayed there in October and at that time they were NOT serving breakfast (despite advertisements to the contrary). I was told that they hadn't served breakfast since March. Not sure of recent history.
