Spacious and nice room.

Noise every night, weird and rude staff. I had pre-paid the stay, but they charged me additionally. Every afternoon I ´ve had to go to front-desk to re-activate my door card for next day.

No amenities tells why it was a two star. Room had no closet or place to hang clothing. The shower had no place to put soap or shampoo other than on the floor. Breakfast was available across the street at Panera's.

The carpeted stairway to the second floor was very steep and narrow and never vacuumed. The through the wall HVAC unit was loud even on low. The bedding had fist size lumps near the bottom. I joked that it was okay as none were moving. And the walls were thin and the bed was right against the wall. It felt and sounded like the amorous couple in the next room was sharing a bed with us.

It wasn't all bad though and was a perfect example of getting what you paid for, maybe even ai bit more. The king size bed was very comfortable. The room was looked and smelled clean, ..

Now saying no amenities was a bit unfair. The room has adequate, free Wi-Fi and a large flat screen TV. It had a coffee maker and coffee enough for one person.

My wife has threatened violence if I ever book a room there again. In a pinch, I'd stay there and if price was important, it offered real value for the price.

This is listed as a two star hotel, and that’s probably pretty accurate. I booked this because I needed something at the last minute and places listed near central Chicago were three times the cost of this one. So it’s Basic with a capital B.
Reception staff were friendly, the heater worked well, there’s a fridge and a microwave (but no cutlery, which makes the microwave redundant), and it’s only two blocks from the bus which links to the Brown Line train that’ll take you south to the city centre.
One piece of advice - pack your earplugs. The walls are paper thin. The TV sets are mounted on these walls. Only when my neighbours turned off their TV and went to sleep, was I able to do so too. I could clearly comprehend conversations between the couple next door.

This motel has been here for many decades and from the outside you'd be put off. When debating driving the 200 miles back home at night, or spending $250+ for a local hotel, I decided to give this place a try for $70. I only hoped it was clean & safe enough to actually sleep in. I was honesty surprised by how modern & clean was the room. Yes, the room was tiny, the towels were scratchy, sheets were not thread count, pillows not feathered, and I would not take a black light to a motel that has only one-bed rooms, but for the price and comfort I would stay here again. I've given the place 4 stars based on the type of motel. Sadly I've paid a lot more to stay in places a lot less nice. Note: Try and get a second floor room, to avoid the noise from entry doors and windows at sidewalk level.

Having stayed there for 4 days, on arrival we were asked to pay a deposit of $100, which would be refunded within 5 working days, provided there was no damage to the room. When we went into the room, there were 4 instances of damage, which were photographed and shown to the staff at reception. We left no damage. We checked out on 11th October, and are still waiting for the refund of the deposit.
There was no wifi during our stay.

DO NOT STAY HERE. Worst hotel experience ever. We got a room here to stay in after a concert we came to town for. Checked in a bit early but the room wasn't ready so we went and grabbed a bite to eat. We then came back to the room for a bit dropped our stuff off and headed out to go to the concert. Came back around midnight to settle in for the night. My wife went in to use the bathroom and when she sat down... the toilet cracked and pinched her leg. She yelled out to me because water was running everywhere. I immediately turned the water supply off to the toilet. I then got dressed and went to the front desk to tell them what happened. On the way out I found that water had run down into the hall downstairs. Even though i turned the water off as soon as i could. I was told by the man at the desk that there were no other rooms and that there was nothing he could do for me. "The toilet was fine at 3... this is your fault" he said. I couldn't believe he was trying to say we were responsible for the faulty toilet. I explained that we couldn't stay in a room with no toilet."I can't do anything for you" he stated. I then asked for a refund since the room was unfit and they had no toilet for us to use. I was refused a refund and was told I "would here from them Monday " He wouldn't even come look at what happened. I had no choice but to check out and begin my 5 hour drive towards home. I found another hotel outside of Chicago on the way home.

Traveled from Michigan with my husband and 1 year old son. Looks ok from the outside. Paid $65.00, opened the door and there were mirrors and lights on the ceilings, just like a prostitute hotel or something. Then, at 4 am, we were awoke to loud sex. A woman screaming and pounding, it was the most horrible hotel I EVER stayed at. I called the front desk to explain I didn't bring my young son to Chicago and pay $65.00 to hear loud sex all night. The response, " What do you expect when people come to a hotel?" WHAT???? Never will I come back to Chicago.

The cost of the motel was great for what I needed. The room had mirrors on the cieling, which was perfect because I love being able to see myself when I'm with a woman. The only issue is at 4 in the morning there was knocking followed by someone yelling at me to quiet down with my lady friend. Overall the price was great and I come back every week.

I too came from Michigan with my family for the weekend and ended up at The Rio!
We were heading into Chicago on a budget and after a long day we just wanted a couple hours of sleep before we headed home the next morning!
The Rio is a Brothel!
The following morning (after a very restless night due to hearing other people have loud sex and someone pounding on the door while screaming in the hallway) we were followed out of the Rio parking lot by the cops!
We stopped at a nearby restaurant for coffee and they immediately pulled my ex husband and I out of the car and questioned us extensively as to why we stayed there!
My two kids ages 8 and 15 were terrified in the back sit watching all this.
The Rio was under survalince for drugs and prostitution!
Do NOT stay at the Rio if you are in Chicago with your family !!!

Where to begin? The hotel was clean. That is the only good thing I can say. No maid service, small towels, no hair dryer, no iron and ironing board, and no closet or anywhere to hang your clothes. The walls are paper thin. If you want to get even a few hours sleep, don't stay at this hotel.
