Detailed Reviews
Husband and I stayed here for a week without ourkids. We stayed in a room with a kitchenette and used a government rate as hubs is a govt employee, so it was the same rate no matter the size of the room.
This place is more like an Airbnb, which we liked. It’s not a place where they will rush to your room to give you extra towels, and we didn’t have anyone clean our room while we were there, which was fine. There is a full kitchen with silverware/plates/coffee and tea in the basement, but we used our fridge/microwave in our kitchenette as needed. The basement also had board games/ping pong table/two peleton bikes but we never used them. Very cool antique/vintage sports theme throughout.
The hotel staff is typically one person at the front desk from maybe 10:30/11am til midnight. I’d had questions about an early check in and reached someone via a text number a few days before I checked in. Otherwise, no one responded to a call or email. We could not check in til about 4 pm, but they stowed our luggage so we could explore the area before check in when we arrived several hours early from the airport. Similarly, when we checked out, we asked for a late check out for 1pm. We did so, and they stowed our luggage for awhile until we took a cab to the airport a few hours later.
Hotel is about two blocks from the Chicago stop on the brown line CTA, and walkable to shops and restaurants along Wells and other streets. Very convenient location for a week of sightseeing.
I’d brought earplugs as I read reviews about the train, which is right next to the hotel, and the front desk offers earplugs. We never needed them, as our room had great soundproofing in the windows. (Train was louder in the bathroom, but we didn’t care).
Wifi worked well and tv/cable was fine. Room was clean and modern, with outlets everywhere and high ceilings with pipes throughout — the space is a former milk factory. Our suite had two twin beds and a queen, so would comfortably sleep four, plus a couch that someone could sleep on (husband used it to store his luggage).
They do charge an amenity fee but there is no cafe on site (it is permanently closed and appears to be a casualty of the pandemic) and while you can get bottled water and some alcoholic drinks, we rarely used them. We had seen mentions of this fee in earlier reviews and just added them to the cost of the regular room rate, so it wasn’t a surprise.
Overall, we had a great stay.

I loved this boutique hotel! Absolutely recommend. I had a room with a full size bed and the room size was perfect for me. The window was right up against the elevated train track and there was a little noise as trains passed. I sleep with earplugs so it didn’t bother me and I actually enjoyed it. The bathroom was large and well appointed. The hotel decor is great fun. I thought the guest kitchen and dining room was superb and made myself some late night grilled cheese sandwiches :-). Families will really enjoy the communal kitchen and the enormous game rooms! Wow! Great coffee shop with delicious food. The hotel peeps were all super friendly and helpful. I first thought the neighborhood might be dodgy at night (think it’s going through revival) but had no problems at all. I will certainly be coming back to FieldHouse next time I’m in Chicago. A joy!

Our stay was great to say the least. We were forced to stay four days longer than we had originally planned at the hotel, due to outside car issues, and we were not disappointed. They allowed us to switch rooms, gave us any necessities we asked for, and were extremely welcoming and actually cared about our situation. Dominique was our girl who brought joy to our stressful situation, as well as the manager and another worker who were all so helpful and welcoming. Overall great experience. Clean, comfy, and great service. Will visit again

You should know that there are no hotel employees on site at the Chicago Hotel Collection - Wrigleyville property. I thought that was a interesting concept, but it turns out that it is very difficult to connect with staff via phone, text or email, and I often found their voicemail full when trying to leave a message before, during and after my stay. Checking into the hotel is very confusing and requires you to get a code in order to open a box next to the hotel to get your key card. I finally found the key card in an unlocked (broken) box. The whole access process does not feel secure and if I wasn't with others, I would have felt even more uncomfortable. Even after you get in the hotel, it feels a little shady. The suite room has two bunk beds and was very small. It appears much larger on their website. The "Guest Amenity" Fee (nearly $60 for two nights) supposedly includes 3 drinks with your stay each night. Both nights I requested drinks and only received two (warm) drinks the first night, and my drink request was ignored the second night after leaving a request by text and phone. I was actually told that they could't take my order because they had a customer in front of them and that would have to call back at 7:00 pm (three hours later) to make my order. When I called back they said that the maid had already left for the day and so I could not get my drinks. They say they will deliver a peloton to your room, but it would not fit in the suite. It looks like they have you use it in the creepy basement, but there was no place to plug it in. At the end of my stay I had a question on my invoice, and was told twice that they would have someone look into it. Both times they never got back to me over a three week time frame and ultimately it was not resolved. Overall, my stay was very disappointing and I will not be staying at this property in the future and recommend that you do your research before your stay. Good Luck!

We stay at Hotel Collection Chicago River North for 4 nights. The hotel is very small but is clean. The customer service was the worst we have EVER encountered!
We were charged $900 for 4 nights for a double-bed room. When we checked in, they charged an additional $40+tax "resort fee" per night which was a total rip off, as there were virtually no amenities at this hotel.
We called multiple times before our travel to request an early checkin, as our flight arrived at 11am. We had to call 3 times (and tried different times of the day) before someone answered the phone. We were told that early checkin is not allowed. The regular checkin time is 4pm (which is very late indeed, for any hotel).
We showed up at exactly 4pm, but found that they still had not yet cleaned our room. We had to wait for over half an hour (even after pleading repeatedly), and we were almost late for an important appointment that late afternoon.
On that late evening, another guest opened our room door and was about to enter into our room, while we were inside our room!
When we complained about this incident the next morning (on our way out), the receptionist did not acknowledge that they might have issued the wrong key to other guests. Instead, she said she will find out from the security camera who entered our room the night before. She took our keys, and said we will get new keys when we return in the evening. Shockingly, when we returned in the evening, the staff on duty at the reception knew nothing of our incident. She could not find our names on the computer, and she told us that our room was cancelled! All our belongings were still inside our room, and we already paid for the next 3 nights. After lots of anxiety and waiting for over 15 mins, she finally gave us new keys to our room, and again promised that they will follow up on the security incident the next morning. We never heard back from the hotel about the incident (i.e. another guest getting into our room).
There was always just one person at the reception throughout our stay, and often that person was not at the reception. When we checked out at around 10:30am, we saw that many people were waiting to check out, because the receptionist wasn't there. After waiting for some time, everybody (ourselves included) just left our keys on the reception desk. (In any case, they did not leave any instructions for auto-checkout). The reception was totally disorganized!
The fridge in our room did not work. We had to store milk in the shared fridge in the basement instead.
For 2 of the nights, a group of young people returned to the hotel at around 3am, and talk very loudly for up to 5 mins along the common corridor adjoining many bedrooms. It certainly woke up almost all guests on our floor. The hotel did nothing about it.
Overall, an extremely bad experience indeed....

When we checked in it was mandatory to initial agreement to various fees. We were assured the unused services would be removed upon checkout. We tried to checkout in person at 9 am, but the desk was not staffed at that time, so we utilized mobile checkout. We decided to try the desk about 30 minutes later, as we were charged an amenities fee (the hotel provided no amenities).
The person at the desk advised us that the $41.02 amenities fee was for 4 free drinks from the coffee/beer bar, and that the charge was mandatory, even though the bar was closed due to COVID, so no drinks were available.
As an aside, the WIFI password we were given did not work…. The room was clean, except for the small desk, which was dirty with a sticky substance.
Cute, quirky hotel, but staff was not knowledgeable about the area, and unhelpful.

The overcharging, lack of clear policies, poor customer service, and security issues make this hotel a poor choice.
I recently stayed at this hotel with six other people to celebrate my sister-in-law’s upcoming wedding. Unfortunately, our experience was extremely disappointing for several reasons:
Firstly, the hotel's website does not state that you cannot bring decorations, yet we were charged a $160 “party fee” and they have keep my deposit for having balloons. There was ZERO damages to the room but because we left the decorations (cleaned up for the most part) they are charging us. This is misleading and feels like an unfair charge. I called the hotel three times to resolve this issue, but each time I was either hung up on, transferred without resolution, or given inconsistent explanations. One staff member said it was a party fee, while another claimed it was a cleaning fee (shouldn't they be cleaning the room anyway?), which is not mentioned anywhere on their website. There is actually another review on Booking.com that says "Great for loud groups/bachelor parties" and the hotel thanked them for choosing them for their bachelor party, so I am wondering where they switched up from them to us was?
Additionally, the front of the hotel is a lounge/bar, which is extremely crowded during the weekends. This setup allows anyone at the bar to have complete access to the hotel rooms, creating a significant security concern. There are two doors leading to the rooms that say "hotel guests only" but the staff at the desk is not checking anyone who walks into the doors they barely look up from their phones nor is there a keycard scanner to get back there. There was little to no security presence, making the environment feel unsafe.
I took a chance on this hotel despite other negative reviews, hoping for a decent location. However, I regret not looking harder for a hotel that would have provided a safer, more accommodating environment for our celebration.

Dear Mariah, Thank you for sharing your experience. We apologize for any confusion and inconvenience you faced during your stay. We take the security of our guests seriously. Our hotel aims to ensure a safe environment, and we regret if the measures in place did not make you feel secure. We will review our security protocols and ensure our team is attentive and responsive. We appreciate your feedback and will use it to make necessary improvements. We hope you will consider staying with us again, as we work to enhance our guests' experiences.

Please read before booking in this place they call a “hotel”.
I had 2 rooms reserved and PAYED via hotelbeds from 19th to 22st of May at the Hotel collection River north. We got there after midnight because we had problems with our flight. For our surprise, there was no one to check us in. I did not know no one will stay in the hotel during the night, what I think is an absurd. I tried to call and text the emergency number, and after a while someone responded saying my reservation was cancelled because it was too late. We got very frustrated and at that time we tried to look for some hotel nearby to spend the night.
The next morning, we came back to the hotel collection river north to try to at least use our last night there since it was already paid. We talked to the front desk and explained the situation and she said our rooms were still available. She asked me for my credit card and I asked her TWICE if that was just for a hold, and she says yes. I received 3 different charges in my credit card: $56.99, 147.01, and 111.99. In the next morning I asked her again if that was just a hold, because rooms were already paid for and again she said yes. After weeks, one of the charges still remains in my credit card.
I emailed the hotel explaining the situation and asking for a refund and they didn’t even respond me. What a bulls*** of a hotel. I 100% DO NOT recommend. It’s a joke.

Literally the worst “hotel” I’ve ever stayed in. I’ve had better experiences at motel 6 and crappy roadside motels. They charge a $50 amenity fee for little to no amenities received. There’s no 24 hour front desk agent or staff. There’s no phones in the rooms to call to the front desk so you have to walk there for anything you may need. As someone who works in hotels, it’s hard for me to leave a bad review, but if anywhere deserves it, it’s this place. Book somewhere else and let this place go out of business so a real operator can take over.

From beginning to end, the staff at the Chicago Hotel Collection was incredible. Led by the hotel manager, Willy, his staff which included Sanese and others were professional and helpful, with guest services being their top priority. They offered us refreshments after a long day of sightseeing, recommendations on where to go and eat, and most of all, very accommodating with all of our needs and requests. We booked two spacious rooms at the hotel, and were very impressed with the size and amenities. We will definitely stay here again!

There is a private refrigerator in the suite. Glassware too. If you needed a kitchen set up, there is one in the basement that can be used. A BIG refrigerator is down there with a full kitchen and large tables to eat at.
Hi there! We recently revamped our breakfast offerings now that we have opened a brand new cafe and coffeeshop in our lobby! From 7am to 11am each day, all guests can pick up a complimentary drip coffee and breakfast empanada at the DropShot Coffee and Snack Bar. We also offer other items for purchase such as coffee drinks, pastries, parfaits, oatmeal, breakfast tacos, and breakfast bowls, besides lunch and dinner items. We hope to see you in December!
