Hotel's Favorite
Great hotel, perfect stay in a clean, convenient and comfortable historic hotel. Perfect location for walking to tourist attractions. Safe inside and out, great professional knowledgeable and friendly staff. Absolutely nothing negative to say!! Spacious rooms, comfy beds, great air conditioning with easy to control panel, and absolutely spotlessly clean! Shout out to Vanessa, LaShawn, and Courtney! And absolutely superb advice from maybe the best concierge in the city?? Deborah Sawyer was so helpful in helping make our girls getaway perfect! Will definitely return and stay and the Palmer House!

Historic Hotel lacking maintenance. Room run down, old carpet, very old bathroom, stains that wouldn‘t go away, mould, wallpaper coming off, curtains coming off, no water or coffee making facility in the room: max a 2-star experience. Wouldn’t go there again, 300 USD per night is far too expensive.

We visited Chicago earlier this month. We stayed at another hotel but we decided to come visit the Palmer Hotel because of the history . It is the oldest Hotel in the country so we decided this would be fun to visit . Upon entering , it was nice and the bar/lobby was very nice as well; however, the service of bartender was not much to write about. No one was helpful. When we went to go sit down in the bar seating ( lobby) the upholstery was horrible. There were holes and we could see the seating needed serious upholstery work . We went to the restaurant and I could believe how torn the upholstery was that we decided to leave and sit back in the bar lobby to finish our drinks and leave. We were planning to see an opportunity if we wanted to stay at The Palmer Hotel but we made the decision we wouldn’t come back . I’m very surprised a Hilton hotel has allowed the aesthetics to be so poor .

A great welcome at arriving, two waters and that’s it. (Included: Anything you need, just ask). Our stay was three days. The location is great. Period. The room just regular, the bathroom too small and old, with a damaged door. I went to the front desk asking for another bottle of water, the answer was: it’s only for “members”. They didn’t appear to change towels or make the bed during our stay. I asked to a housekeeper: We were not in the “list”, (you are not a member, remember?) Why it’s a four stars a place that treat a guest as nobody. I’ve been in other Hilton’s and those were great experiences. At the check out they asked me about my stay, I said just regular. The answer was silence. They didn’t care. I absolutely don’t recommend this place. Once you pay you are nothing. Oh. Only if you are a Member. Totally disappointing.

Palmer House was perfect for our gathering, family came from around the country. The lobby was a good place for visiting as were the larger rooms we reserved. So beautiful and so much character! Staff friendly and helpful. Clean. Relaxing. Perfect.

Yes, great location, large lobby for gathering, beautiful historical building, nice staff at check in but….the rooms need a major updating as well as the hallways etc. Carpet is older, walls need painting & bathrooms very dated. For the price of a room, I would stay somewhere else.

An absolute tremendous weekend in Chicago! We stayed at the Palmer house Hilton from Thursday through to Sunday. Our experience was nothing short of exceptional at the Palmer house! From our initial check-in to the staff welcoming to the breakfasts and room attendants to the care and thoughtfulness of the concierge and bellhop , the experience was first class all the way. The rooms were very clean and neat and the location of the hotel was tremendous. From the hotel we were able to walk to all major points, the Navy Pier, Magnificent Mile, the ‘Bean’ the sunset river architectural tour, the Riverwalk and fine restaurants. The subway was literally the next block over with easy access to transportation to and from the Cubs game. Thank you Shauna J For your help ! A great weekend made greater by our stay at the Palmer House Hilton !

I have stayed at the Palmer House Hilton on many occasions—in many different types of rooms from standard to family rooms on the executive floor—and have many fond memories of the hotel. Sadly, our last stay was not at all up to Hilton standards. I know they were shut down for a period during Covid, but they really should have taken stock before reopening. Our room was dumpy and cramped and not what was pictured on the website. On the website, they showed a comfortable chair but apparently “the engineer” decided to remove all the chairs from the rooms save for an incredibly uncomfortable desk chair. When traveling with two people, one is supposed to stand when not sleeping? I asked for any kind of chair, even the one of the ubiquitous ones found in conference rooms, but the refused to provide one. Our bathroom looked pretty gross, a lot of water damage and dry rot. Amenities are sparse, not what the once were. The location is amazing, the lobby is beautiful, the building is historic, and it once was one of my favorite hotels in Chicago. Not anymore, never again.

Very disappointing stay – I usually stay at the Palmer when I go to Chicago and it has been a pretty good hotel, great location, but this time has me re-thinking my Chicago hotel. We arrive late in the evening and go to check in (it would not let me check in from the app). When we arrive at the front desk, they only have a full bed and are totally sold out. Not the room type we reserved and as a Hilton Diamond, not the experience we expected. We get to the smallest room I have been in (and I travel to NY a lot) which is directly across the elevators. It was a horrible night sleep as we were crammed together in a small bed listening to the sound of the elevators moving up and down and people talking as they get off the elevator. You can hear every word they said, there was no sound proofing in our room. After some insistence they offered some points and a new room the next day, but not worth the night of no sleep.
