The Hilton Garden Inn Chicago Downtown/Magnificent Mile garners mixed feedback from guests. While the central location is lauded for its convenience to attractions and public transport, some travelers find the hotel costly, noting extra charges for parking and amenities.
The bustling atmosphere and dated decor have been points of contention, and although the rooms are recognized for their size, issues with noise and maintenance have been highlighted. Hilton surprised me last year with an amazing stay and complementary waters as soon as I walk through the door. Last night was even better The lobby was trimmed for Christmas stockings are hung by the chimney and the staff made us feel like we were home Staff member Ulysses went out of his way to call the elevator for me so it was ready as soon as I was ready to get on it! Standard check out is 12 noon we love that! Breakfast could be made to order we enjoyed the buffet nice spread couple different meats, scrambled eggs, option toast, yogurts, three different types of juice, three different types of milk. Safe area walking distance to all the places you wanna go bridges you want to see in great pictures you want to take! Looking for

Jose and Cara were very helpful. We had to call down for batteries and John came up with the quickness. Colleen did have to bring the correct batteries, but it was so quick Colleen saved the day!! Will return to this Hotel while in Chicago.

The hotel is very conveniently located and the transport links are excellent. The reception was friendly and the rooms are large and in very good condition. The bathroom is also spacious by Hilton standards. The air conditioning is easy to adjust. Our room was opposite another high-rise building whose air conditioning fans disturbed the peace and quiet and the windows are not soundproof. You could have even opened the windows but it was too loud. There is no restaurant or bar in this hotel. When you check in you are given a list of nearby places to eat. There is a kind of kiosk in the entrance area that sells drinks and snacks. As a Diamond Member I received $36 per night, which I spent on croissants, fruit, coffee and water. You should insist on a room with a sea view as it is quieter.

We stayed at this hotel for three nights. The room was comfortable and spacious. The location is great, just steps from the Chicago Riverwalk. Great restaurants nearby. We did not appreciate the hotel's policy of cleaning the rooms every two days of stay, as we ended up with the room not cleaned and with towels to replace after a very hot and intense day. We therefore asked the reception if they could at least provide us with clean towels but after 20/30 minutes they had not yet been delivered to us until after a second reminder. The property does not have a breakfast room, but relies on an on-site restaurant where we did not feel so good that the second day we had breakfast elsewhere. If you go to the area I Recommendation to choose another hotel.

Stayed here for 2 nights this week on my first visit to Chicago. The location is perfect, especially if you want to be close to the tourist sites, shops, restaurants etc. Magnificent Mile and the Chicago River are just a few minutes walk away. The price, for a downtown hotel, was certainly on the lower side so I didn't expect anything special. However, the price was still too much for what this hotel actually delivers. My room, on the 15th floor, was spacious enough but very dated and horribly decorated. The bed was rock hard and didn't have a proper duvet. The ac/ heater was extremely noisy- so loud it drowned out any noise from the street! The coffee machine was really dusty and only came with 2 disposable cups. No housekeeping was offered mid stay, apparently you only get this every other day. Had to ask reception 3 times for more towels. On check out day, housekeeping started banging on my door from 9am and returned 3 more times before I left just before 11. On the third occasion, despite me shouting from the bathroom, she banged at least 10 times and came in anyway. Front desk staff were polite but not particularly welcoming or friendly. The barman was very nice though. Overall, not a particularly enjoyable stay and I wouldn't return.

Upon our arrival to the hotel, the staff was very attentive, kind, and welcoming. They were more than accommodating to help us get an early check-in to a room that was readily available (since our flight landed earlier that day). When we entered our room, we were amazed and thankful for the superb cleanliness of our room. Housekeeping was very detail oriented to the room and even were happy to help with our requests for extra pillows and fresh towels. Overall lovely hotel! On our last day, we had an evening flight and the staff was able to store our luggage on-site so that we didn’t need to lug it around with us as we finished seeing the city.

In our stay at the hotel everything was going well until the second day we were waiting for the housekeeper service, when we arrived at the hotel at 4 in the afternoon we saw that everything was still dirty because no one had come, we had the trash cans full and the towels dirty and we needed the service. We called the front desk and they told us that they would come in the next half hour, we went down to have a drink to wait thinking that when we return it would be done, and when we went up to the room again everything was still the same, we had to sleep in a dirty room and without provisions for the next day. I chatted with the front desk and they didn't give me any answer.

While the hotel is in a great location the customer service is absolutely awful. A request was made the prior day for early check in. When we arrived at 10:30, Micheal stated that the room wasn't ready at this time. I asked him what time to come back, he asked that we give the housekeeping team until 12 or 12:30. When we returned to the hotel Michael was no longer at the counter. The man standing behind the service desk chuckled when I stated that I was back for the early check in. He looked me up and down asked, have you already paid? When I explained that Michael had taken my credit card and ID earlier in the day he stated that he saw no history of this interaction. He continued to be dismissed and unhelpful given the misinformation provided. When asked what we could do, he said nothing, I will not be doing anything you can check in at 3pm. I have stated at a number of hotels all over the country and have never been met with this low grade of customer service. Now, I realize it was my mistake for not taking the negative rebound this hotel seriously. In an area so densely populated with hotel options do not chose this Hilton Garden Inn.

Our stay was a disappointment. I've been a Hilton Honors member for decades and I've never written a negative review.
My friend flew in from New York to meet me in Chicago to celebrate Christmas. We reserved/confirmed a two-double bed room and ended up with a king and rollaway for four days, wifi wasn't accessible for a couple of days.
One morning I went to the restaurant to have a cup of coffee and read to be told they were closed from 11 am to noon, so I returned to the lobby to have a complimentary coffee except there was no coffee that morning because the coffee machine wasn't working. The next morning, we arrived at 9:45 am to use our breakfast certificates to learn that the restaurant was closing breakfast early.
We had parking issues too that were corrected. The fitness center, pool, and staff were great.
In the scheme of things, probably not huge problems, but not Hilton brand quality.

I would NOT recommend staying at this hotel. By far the worst experience I’ve had. The service is non-existent. They don’t provide house keeping unless asked to do so. It took 30 mins for them to answer the phone, kept placing me on hold and finally was able to place the request with Hector and was told someone will be there first thing in the morning. No body showed up! I called again at 2 pm and they said someone will be there today they leave at 5 pm. 4:30 pm rolled around and no one showed up. When I called the reception desk again they kept placing the phone on hold again. I was very frustrated at this point and went to the front desk and requested a manager. After patiently waiting the woman I was referred to said she was not the manager. So I went back to waiting in the que finally got someone named Jaileen who was extremely rude and she placed the blame on Hector, the manager from the night before. She said “Hector never put in a request so we’ll see if house keeping can come.” I find that hard to believe as Hector was the only competent individual working there. I pressed for the request to be taken care of that day as I’d already been waiting and she said ok “Wanda is on her way” I went back to the room and no one was there, waited a while and finally an hour later they showed up for the service. I stayed 5 night, requesting house keeping service one day was more than a reasonable request and shouldn’t have been this difficult!
Don’t place calls on hold for 30 minutes, don’t tell a guest who is already upset to keep waiting and refer them to “managers” who aren’t managers. And don’t play the blame game it’s not important who’s fault it is it’s definitely not mine so coordinate with your staff and provide adequate service! That’s all any guest wants! Additionally, I’ve had hotel staff barge into my room unannounced 3 times. I had the dead bolt on, so they couldn’t fully enter but it was scary and highly unprofessional. Lastly, the bathroom is dated and smells like sewage and the water doesn’t drain in the tub so you are standing in a puddle the whole time you shower. I like to keep my room at a nice 70 and every time I would come back the temperature was 74 and hot and muggy. Don’t stay there are plenty of other hotels! If you are looking for friendly and competent staff that can ensure simple request such as house keeping service are fulfilled in a timely manner this is DEFINITELY NOT the place to be.

Thank you for leaving a review, as Hilton strives on continuous growth. I can assure you that our staff try their absolute best to meet the needs of all guests and make them all feel welcome. When it is busy, it becomes difficult for us to greet, check in guests, and answer phones; however, we understand accommodating all guests is important. I apologize that you did not enjoy your stay here, but I hope we are able to redeem your previous experience as our hotel is going under renovation in November and will be a completely different hotel. Thank you for choosing Hilton. Best, Hilton Garden Inn

The parking at the hotel is valet only at $65 per day. We found an outdoor lot right around the corner for -$30/day. You have to renew it each day; can’t pay for more than one day at a time. We found I to be safe and convenient.
There are more places to choose from in the Chicago area.
