High in the North Georgia Mountains is Amicalola Falls State Park home of Amicalola Falls Lodge. Named after the Cherokee word for “tumbling waters” Amicalola Falls is one of the most popular state parks in Georgia. The park’s namesake is the 729-foot falls: the highest cascading waterfall east of the Mississippi River. The park is also the start of the 8-mile approach trail to Springer Mountain, the southern end of the 2,150-mile Appalachian Trail. The Lodge was built in 1990 by the State of Georgia, with 56 guestrooms in the main lodge and 14 cabins along with a gift shop, meeting space and a mountain view restaurant. The lodge rooms vary from standard hotel rooms with 2 double beds, loft suites that can sleep 6, to king bed suites with private balconies. The Lodge also is home to The Maple Restaurant that offers breakfast, lunch and dinner daily. The Lodge rests on 829 acres with on-site activities that include stream or pond fishing, as well as more than twelve miles of hiking trails, several centering on viewing the spectacular 729-foot waterfall. Amicalola Falls Lodge features more than 4,000 square feet of meeting space that can host groups and social events consisting of up to 150 people in traditional meeting spaces as well as a unique outdoor veranda setting. The Lodge’s spectacular view, peaceful setting, and exceptional service make it a destination not to be missed while in the North Georgia Mountains.

My wife and I had stayed here back a few years ago and since then they had remodeled the rooms. There was no desk in the room, only a small table and I had to move the coffee maker, etc. to set up a laptop computer. The toilets have a high air compression flush so be careful so you don’t wake up everyone in the room in the middle of the night. Great view of the mountains to the west till a weather front moved in. About the Maple Restaurant inside the lodge building, I saw some posts complaining about the buffet and it was okay for our one dinner and breakfast the next morning. It’s nothing fantastic but it is what it is and there are no other restaurants near the state park the lodge is in. And they do serve beer and wine. Prior to the visit we tried to call and left messages to ask questions but they were never answered. Check in at the lodge was smooth and pleasant. There is no refrigerator in the room but there was an ice machine on the third floor, we were on the fourth. NOTE TO TRIP ADVISOR, MY PHOTOS ARE FLIPPED SOMETIMES AND THEY WERE NOT TAKEN THAT WAY ?? IF THEY SHOW UPSIDE DOWN CAN YOU FIX THEM PLEASE..THANK YOU

Nice place to get away. It sits atop Amicalola Mountain and offers a spectacular view from the rear of the lodge. We stayed in a loft room on the 4th floor. Ate once at the on-site restaurant. It was fine. I would recommend for a weekend getaway.

Wake up to a hot cup of coffee and stunning views over the mountains. This is a wonderful lodge inside of Amicalola Falls State Park. You'll have wonderful views from your room, from the patio and inside the beautiful three story lobby with a nice fireplace. The room was not large but was very nice, clean and comfortable. The lodge staff was rather apathetic and seemed like we were bothering them by checking in and asking a few questions. It's expensive but worth it for the experience.

Incredible views! Guest rooms and offerings need updating! Food and service are ok; need to increase offerings since store and other restaurants are not convenient; I guess since it is state-owned, they do not put money back in the lodge. It has potential to be an incredible facility.
