This was a short trip to test RV functions before long term summer trips. One of the nicest public (Martin County) campgrounds we have been to in a long time. Their major renovation several years ago was very well thought out. Water and Sewer are city utilities. All pedestals have 30- and 50 amp service. Water pressure was great. The WiFi system has towers around the park and gives great signals. Good walking paths - along the waterfront and also to and from the Primitive camping areas. Most sites were well spaced and many appeared to be "Buddy" sites. The only issue we had was with the 50 amp outlet - the 30 amp worked fine so that is what we used with no issues.
Definitely a "Big Rig" friendly campground.

I tent camped here for a month 10 yrs ago and it was a great experience. Grounds were very well kept.... laundry and showers were clean.... many shaded sites and was very tent friendly. Also right near the Saint Lucie Locks and Dam which was interesting. We live up in the Gainesville area and are planning a trip down and plan on spending a night or two there again.

My family stayed here during January of 2011. I made reservations for this trip over the phone right after the new year. When we arrived, we checked in with a friendly lady and bought firewood. We had a nice evening by the fire playing games and making dinner. However, the next morning the manager came to our campsite at about 7:25 AM. He was very, very rude and yelled at my husband as well as myself. He accused us of not checking in. When my husband explained that I had made reservations weeks before and had checked in with a older lady knitting a pink scarf, he got even more irrate. He has a very bad attitude and I wonder how he continues to have a job when so many people are out of work. It is ridiculous. I would not recommend this campground to anyone. Go to the Army Corps of Engineers right next door. The people are very friendly and the campsite is really neat. We drove all the way from SC to FL and this manager was so aweful we drove home the very next day. Also, when we got back from lunch, there were two huge RV's parked right beside our tents. The manager allowed RV's to stay in the tent area which is problematic because the generators make noise all night long. This campground is the worst and we are avid campers! Don't ruin your vacation by staying here!

My experience at Phipps park was horrible. The office manager wants to be a police officer and will throw you off the premises for anything! we started to go fishing with a nearby camper and later on found out that this other camper was the office managers ex wife's boyfriend. The next thing we know we are being asked to leave because we did not make a payment by noon. Who gets off work before noon? This was taken on a personal level and we were asked to leave for no good reason.I would never advise anyone to stay there. the office manager Joe is extremely rude and unprofessional. As a matter of fact, I'm handing this over to my attorney. handing this situation over to my attorney would be the best thing to do because Joe should not be able to do the things that he does to people.

Stayed at Phipps during the week of 3/7/10. It was difficult to register because the manager is not in his office during his posted hours. He acts like he's doing you a favor. You have to work at it to get registered, the whole time listening to him complain about how bad his job is. The park itself is nice though, but I would consider not coming back just because of how difficult and unpleasant this manager is.

I saw the reviews about it being loud because of I95 and the turnpike nearby but didn't think it would be that bad staying in an rv, but it was. Also, no sewer hookup. Also, very rude, scary and confrontational maintenance man and there was a group of campers at one of the campsites that looked like they lived there a long time in their group of tents almost like a homeless tent city. I didn't feel safe there. Only positive thing I can say is that is has a boat ramp if you have a boat to take out and some of the scenery is nice with the water views but that isn't enough to make me want to stay there ever again.

We stayed here at Thanksgiving because it is close to our family. It has a very clean bathhouse, small playground.,a few trees and a boat ramp. That's about it. At $23 per night its a good value for sleeping. Even though it's close to 95 and turnpike it's very quiet and very dark. There are 18 sites wth electricity and tons of room for maneuvering your RV. There are limited campgrounds in the area and Phipps provides online/phone reservations.

Phipps Park~ The camp ground is very well kept, bathrooms are super clean, and the landspape in general is very photogenic. HOWEVER......there is a turnpike bridge and interstate bridge VERY close by and it is super noisy all day and all night! You can't hear a person talking to you 10ft away and trying to sleep at night.....HAHAHAHA....GOOD LUCK with that! Unless you have a RV or Trailer to help mute the noise.
No alcohol at these grounds. Who camps with out beer? And the staff is very noisy.
