We took another family plus some of my daughters friends for 5 days at universal. 17 of us total stayed at Cabana Bay. Used black car shuttle orlnado for easy and very price friendly for roundtrip airport transportation. Check in was great except for the other family had trouble finding their reservation with was a bit stressful. We were not happy to find the family suites on the opposite side of the property from the regular rooms we booked...a good 15 min walk one way! Had we known, we would have booked all family suites. TV screen was shattered upon entry but they hotel.staff took care of it as soon as we reported it. Ac worked great. There was noise bleed over through the walls all the way around. We just ran a white noise app all night on one of our phones to block it out. Beds were pretty comfortable, could have used more pillows. The pullout couch bed was HORRIBLE. Felt like a yoga mat laid ontop of plywood and then they onky had a sheet to use as a cover. Luckily it was my youngest son assigned to that bed and he was wiped out from walking the parks each day that he was able to sleep decently. AC nice and cold, sometimes too cold and not enough blankets. Microwave was small and cooked extremely slowly, but with planning, did the job for our group of 10 to prep breakfast in the room each morning. Bayliner diner was ok food but less ok due to the price. Cheaper than the park food, bit still a hefty chunk of vacation funds for our large group. Plus it is horrendously crowded at the end of the day when everyone comes back from the park. Would have loved more fresh offerings and different items from what you find all over the parks. Pizza line was the worst each night. Shake shoppe got my sons order wrong twice in a row and took forever to prep it. Quality disappointing too. Gift shop in lobby was a fun mix of items. Loved the themeing of resort and most everything was in decent repair. Fire puts were a very cool bonus amenity. We brought smores supplies from home and it was the perfect Sunday evening family activity. Movies shown each night by the pool. Mini fridge in the room was bigger than average which, awesome for the amount we brought. Funky shelves above kitchen area were fantastic to store all of it as well. Housekeeping kept room clean, sometimes too clean. Our washed cutlery and cups got thrown away during cleaning creating shortages, as well as our Ponchos got chucked one evening. Would stay here again with a few changes on our part!

As someone who has stayed in a good number of Disney hotels over the years, this was my first stay in a Universal property. I traveled with my wife and sons (both aged 12) and we stayed for a few nights. This place is fantastic, it has a great theme with 50s vibe, two wonderful pools, but the icing on the cake was the lazy river! Our boys spent hours in that, it was a highlight of the trip. Meals were great with plenty of options, the staff were awesome, and the transport to the Universal parks was reliable and efficient. We’d happily stay here again!

Took an Uber to and from the airport. 20 minutes. Very easy. Checked in at 8am. My room wasn't ready until 5pm, but we were given access to the resort and parks. The diner at Cabana Bay is great! It's cafeteria style, serves a variety of cuisines, is reasonable priced, serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, opens at 7am and closes at 11pm. We purchased souvenir cups (highly recommended). Coffee, soda, water, anything from a Coke Freestyle machine was free (at Cabana Bay) with these cups. ALSO, water is FREE at all Coke Freestyle machines in the parks! Universal is currently running a promotion to buy 3 days and get 2 free (includes your stay and access to all parks for all days!) We will be taking advantage of this promotion again and traveling back in November.

Friendly Staff but lacking excellent service. Checkin very slow. Buses to parks intermittent. Food very basic but expensive. Just lacks that special touch I expected. Stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment over looking Volcano Bay which had great views but a very uncomfortable sofa bed and a 7.15 wake up from the loud music and drums that warm you the waves are starting in Volcano Bay which doesn’t open until 8am

The good first - great pool, lots of guests appeared to be enjoying the pool and slides and lazy river. We tried the lazy river as a family activity and easily spent a couple hours enjoying ourselves. The room accommodated our family of 5 quite well. Housekeeping is still minimal, but they were very generous and polite and helpful when we encountered them. The bad - A previous reviewer mentioning lack of blankets, crappy pillows and an uncomfortable mattress was spot on unfortunately. But housekeeping brought us extra blankets when we requested. That said, overall I still rate it highly as a good place to stay with children.

Well first impressions on arrival were not great. We were in the tower near to where the enterance to Volcano Bay was. That meant we were advised to go via the pool area to get to our room. The main pool area was very busy with fairly loud music and people drinking on the pool edge. In addition to that the smoking areas were located on the path to our room. My other half has a thing about other peoples smoke and I get it too....it wasnt a great first impression. When we got to our room the other half had a freak out as it appeared that there was a small sample of toilet paper left in the shower room with residue still there. So our feeling immediately that it wasnt very clean and first impressions were pretty dire. Kind of like an 18-30 type place in ibiza! However once we got settled we skipped the pool area entirely and walked around the front of the hotel. Much better experience where we could all marvel at the size of the cars in the USA! Once we started doing this we felt it was a much better experience. That pool area is just too busy for our liking. Everything else though was pretty good . The canteen seating area was massive and the diner prices high but thats par for being in a universal hotel I suppose. My son is a fussy eater so we in the main only had the Pizza but that was great and pretty reasonable too. We only spent 4 nights here with one of those interuppted by young boys at 12-1am in the morning.....I plugged my headphones in but they were really loud for one of the nights. Overall I would recommend for young families and the hotel is OK for a short stay. Would I stay again? Probably not as its big and busy...but still fond memories anyway.

So not quite the hotel we were after but entirely our own fault. It’s very large, like a massive Butlin’s (UK visitors will know what I mean). Although marketed as a budget hotel we found the food expensive for what it was. massive tip here: you can use the amenities and restaurants at all the Universal resort hotels. We used Sapphire falls and Adventura hotels for food and the pool. A bit more expensive but worth it. You ask for an amenity key at the concierge and this will give you access to the pool area. A god send as both far more relaxing than Cabana bay. the food hall at Adventura is excellent btw. Note: cabana bay reception said we couldn’t do this but it’s all allowed. They want you to stay there and use their food court. Pricey and rubbish food. Also you can use the river boat from Sapphire falls if you don’t fancy the walk. In general Cababana bay is probably best suited for those with young children. It’s. A clean hotel , we found, and our beds and room were comfy. I just prefer Sapphire as stayed there before. Also Adventura is same price as Cabanna. Another plus point for Cabanna is the access to Volcano bay but again that’s possible from the other two I mentioned. Also note that Cabana can get very busy due to conventions etc.
