I'm not sure why this hotel receives bad reviews. The staff couldn't have been friendlier or more helpful, the room was clean and comfortable, and the location was amazing if Universal is your primary destination. Take it for what it is - There's a fee for parking, and food is a little pricey, but the lack of resort fee is a nice bonus. To add to the discussion about walking to the parks - It's a very easy walk; about 15-20 minutes (Depending on how fast you walk) over a roadway bridge and on sidewalks to the rideshare pickup area. We walked there in the afternoon and back around midnight. Most of it was well-lit, and I didn't feel unsafe at any point. The way I looed at it, by the time I drove over, and walked from the cheap parking, I was looking at 20 -25 minutes, anyway... No real point in driving. The free hotel shuttle is probably nice, but you need to reserve a space the day before (So we missed our chance). The only miss at the hotel was the digital key - It never worked for us. Not one time (including the parking lot). I've used it dozens of times at plenty of other properties. It was uniquely inoperable here. I repeatedly received a "Try again" and then "Failed" notice in my ap. Not a deal-breaker, but I wouldn't plan on using it without a key backup. Don't skip the front desk when arriving for the first time!

My husband and I were looking forward to a relaxing weekend and were excited for our stay at this hotel. We were even more excited we could bring our dogs with us since they advertise themselves as “pet-friendly”. We checked into our room, settled in and left to explore the parks. Not even 1 hour after we left, we got a call from the hotel manager claiming that a guest complained about our barking dogs at 4:45 pm. I asked the manager what I should do, he basically threatened me and said if I didn’t come back to control their barking I could be charged extra fees. My husband then called back several times, was put on hold and disconnected. He finally got thru to the Manger on duty and was told guests were complaining about the barking and that their policy is that the owner is to be called if the dogs continue to bark. My husband respectfully acknowledged the Managers request and we left the park to come check out the situation. Upon arrival to our room, we made several attempts to use our room key to gain entry into our room which was not working. We then tried the digital key, that didn’t work either. He went downstairs to get another key after waiting in a long line only to come back to our room and that key didn’t work either. He walked around the corner only to find a security guard who was very rude and clearly aware of the situation. After watching us attempting to gain entry into our room, he tells us our keys were suspended due to the dogs barking. I can tell you I lost my sh-t with this man. You DO NOT take the liberty of deactivating a paying hotel guests room who has live animals in it and just say that’s our policy along with his I don’t give a sh-t attitude. Needless to say we immediately contacted the Manager of the hotel and demanded a full refund and checked out of the hotel. I would also like to note the room itself was dirty. The bathroom floor was dirty. The room smelled like mold. I will be filing a complaint with Hilton’s Corporate offices. This is unacceptable to be treated like a second class hotel guest when we have been long-time Hilton Honors guests. Their management is horrible and this hotel is disgusting to its guests.

The outside, lobby, eateries, and patio are very nice and clean. Our room had a few issues. No fan in the bathroom, no window to open (6th floor). This caused our room to stay warm and humid. It’s Florida, bathrooms need a fan. The hairdryer was partially melted, no washcloths (but were given extra hand towels), no housekeeping unless you called to request it. Only 2 elevators working in one tower. On the other hand…staff were very pleasant and the price was good.

We stayed at the Doubletree by Hilton Hotel at the Entrance of Universal Orlando with a group of 15 people. We came to Orlando to visit Universal and Discovery Cove. The photos of this hotel, the pool, etc. do not do it justice. The hotel is beautiful and the staff was super friendly. The walk to Universal was not long and the Uber ride was very reasonable.
