Detailed Reviews
We (four women in their mid to late sixties) visited Mount Dora for our January 2020 Traveling Book Club. We love it when we can stay at a B&B and especially when we can walk to activities, dining, and shopping/strolling small towns. We also like good food. Mount Dora and the Adora Inn fit our needs exactly. We were in the third floor rooms, treehouse and vanilla. The stairs were a bit steep up to the third floor but presented no problems to us. The gourmet breakfasts were awesome. Having the hosts join us for breakfast was an extra treat. Talking with them about the town was quite interesting.
The place is decorated very modernly even though the building is a hundred years old and therefore some aspects of the rooms reflect that ... such as the stairs, windows, etc. The bedding was ultra comfortable and although the rooms had no standing showers, the large modern tubs with handheld showers did the trick. The large front porch was comfortable for sitting and chatting.
The location is great. We were able to walk to town for all our activities but located far enough away from all the town noise and itās hustle and bustle.
We had a very positive experience but I agree with something I read in another review, i.e. it is quite different from other B&Bs weāve stayed.
I highly recommend it as a destination in Mount Dora. Look at the website pictures, read the info provided and if in doubt call the inn with any questions or if you wish recommendations for dining.
Thank you Arthur and John for a very interesting and comfortable stay.

Arthur and John did a fantastic job of making us feel welcome as we were a group of seven women, members of an executive women's forum, who wanted a day away from the city to chill and explore Mount Dora. They cleared some space on their veranda for us to do yoga, made us a delicious full hot breakfast, and then prepared a boxed lunch for us to take on a boat tour of the lake. This well-designed former duplex is roomy with an easy walk to all the wonderful shops and restaurants in Mount Dora.

We wanted to spend a weekend in Mount Dora and had initially reserved at the Lakeside Inn because of its location and history but once we read the reviews regarding their issues with mold, mildew, and lack of upkeep, we changed our reservations to the Adora Inn after reading rave reviews about the inn. Everything was PERFECT!! John & Arthur were the perfect hosts and it is obvious that they take pride in keeping the inn clean, comfortable, and beautiful while maintaining itās historical charm. Of course the gourmet breakfasts were out of this world since they are both chefs and no detail was overlooked, down to the music playing softly in the background! Of course the location is also perfect since you are minutes from downtown Mount Dora. I would not stay anywhere else in Mount Dora!!
Thank you John and Arthur for such warm hospitality!!

Let us count the ways Adora Inn wins five+ stars, starting with the inn itself. This beautifully maintained, spacious home is a tranquil retreat from the hustle of the worldāthe perfect place to come back to after a hectic day as a tourist. Its modern dĆ©cor and minimalist vibe soothe the soul and delight the eye.
The inn offers several public spaces to perch, including a comfortable living room with a fireplace, outdoor garden areas, and a fabulous indoor āporchā that can serve both as a fine dining space and a casual spot to lose a few hours in a book or play cards with your travel companion. Around 5, we enjoyed aperitifs thereālazily looking out at the tree-lined residential street and enjoying the cool breeze of the indoor air conditioning. (It was hot as heck outside when we visited in June, and the porch became our cool refuge.)
The bedrooms are designed for restāwith calming colors and minimal furnishings. The bathrooms in our two rooms featured clawfoot tubsāso bring your favorite bath bubbles and sink deep into relaxation.
Another burst of stars goes to the culinary excellence youāll encounter at breakfast, including homemade scones, pineapple tarts, and fresh fruit, alongside a hearty frittata or cheese-laden omelet and freshly baked ciabatta with butter and jam. Hosts John and Arthur are both accomplished chefs and I highly recommend ordering āDinner at the Inn,ā billed as a āromantic dinner served by candlelight on the intimate front porch.ā Do it. We treated ourselves the first night we arrived, and it was everything promised and more. Two hours in, as we started on an impossibly tasty dessert of braised pears that left our mouths tingling with pleasure, John and Arthur joined us, and we spent another hour learning about each otherās lives. Arthur is an accomplished artistāhis works hang throughout the houseāand John served in the hospitality industry for 24 years.
Full confession: I usually skip B&Bās because Iāve found that most B&B hosts lack the skills for the job. But John and Arthur are the perfect hostsāknowing exactly when to give a guest space.
This sweet retreat in the heart of Mt. Dora is a treasure. If you treasure quiet elegance with a modern twist, the Adora Inn is for you.

This is our second visit to this lovely B&B. The first time we visited during a very busy Christmas season. The town was all lighted up and beautiful. This time we visited for one night on a quiet Thursday. We were able to walk the streets of Mount Dora and visit a few of the shops. We stayed in the Olive room which came with a comfortable King size bed, a nice sitting area and a small shower, toilet room attached. The sink was in the bedroom, like Iāve seen in homes in The Netherlands. After a nice walk around town we refreshed ourselves. By advance agreement, Arthur and John provided a cozy dinner by candlelight on the porch. For a extra fee they offer a 3 course menu and you pick between the chicken, fish, beef or pasta dishes. We loved the Pasta Primavera we had in December, wanted the same dish for our second visit and it was was delicious as I remembered! John and Arthur are excellent cooks. We sleep comfortably and we woke up to the lovey sound of birds in the trees outside our window. It was a sweet awakening. For breakfast we were again treated to a filling breakfast. Fresh fruit, French toast with chicken sausage and grilled pineapple! Yummy. Sadly, we had to be on our way, but very much look forward our next visit. I think we will request the Vanilla room on our next visit since weāve already stayed in the Primrose room. My goal is to stay in a different room each visit. But what wonāt change is the nice, comfortable, relaxing feeling you get visiting John and Arthur in their delightful Inn.

Mount Dora being our favorite little city to visit and living only 10 minutes away, my wife and I decided to take a mini-staycation and spend the night. We found the perfect place in the Adora Inn. The Inn is maintained very well and extremely clean. It is obvious that the owners, Arthur and John, take great pride in their place and make everyone feel welcomed. We had the pleasure of talking with both and finding out that they are both chefs, with John running both back and front of the house for large hotels and resorts in the west and Arthur being both a Chef and artist. Being as our stay was only one night, we only got to experience breakfast but it was wonderful. Their Chef's experience definitely showed as the food was outstanding as was the presentation and service. When some people think "B&B", they picture Grandma's house with thousands of expensive nick knacks crowded in every space of antique furniture. The Adora Inn is not that. It is a very spacious home with a very comfortable air conditioned front pouch for lounging and dining, large living room and dining room. At full capacity, there is plenty of space to enjoy without feeling crowded. For an historic home, the dƩcor has a modern/contemporary flair to it. We stayed in the "Olive Room, which is also very spacious, clean, and perfectly furnished and most importantly, extremely quiet. With the June heat, we did not get to enjoy the two beautiful garden areas with seating. The location is great and within walking distance of downtown and the lake. We will be returning but for a longer stay so as to enjoy one of Arthur and John's dinners and for a great relaxing time. Thank you Arthur and John for a fabulous get away, from your friends, the Sorrento Couple.

As a Central Florida local, it was wonderful to get away with longtime grade school friends. The Adora Inn is adorned with beautiful art and furnished pieces. Common rooms were inviting and warm. I loved the small personalized touches in each room and the feeling of being taken care of. We were greeted once we arrived and toured the common areas. Rooms in this wonderfully renovated home are clean, comfortable and well furnished. Little touches from the wash clothes for makeup, bottled water on our nightstands, to the assortment of teas and coffees, added to the care Arthur and John provided.
Ok. Let's talk about breakfast. First, it was SOOO good! We had a choice of juices, and fresh tropical fruits and berries as a starter that accompanied croissant french toast with what tasted like bruelled pineapple and hearty chicken apple sausage. Gourmet all the way.
The time at the Adora Inn gave us time to catch up and reconnect the way we used to in grade school. Now, decades later, we've leveled up our sleepover, and left the kids and spouses at home. We've just added wine (legally now), anti-aging face masks (no pictures) and reading glasses (Ugh.) Thank you Arthur and John for helping to create more memories!

My wife and I stayed there in March 2021. We stayed up on the third floor in the āTree Houseā room. The room was clean and the king size bed were very comfortable. I am 6 foot tall and about 195 pounds. If somebody was much bigger/taller they might struggle with some of the vaulted ceiling heights. There were lots of windows looking out on two sides and we loved all of the natural light that came into the room. The bathroom was also unique in the sense that it only had a large tub. Because of the vaulted ceiling over the tub you could not stand up completely and have a shower in there. However, there was a showerhead on a hose that could be used but you would have to be sitting or kneeling in the tub. This could be problematic for some. However these unique features just added to our adventure.
On our first morning there we had to get up early to go boating. John (one of the owners) told us that he would have some breakfast parfaits made up and sitting in the refrigerator for us. What a nice treat.
On our second morning we were able to sit down with some of the other guests and enjoy a very yummy breakfast.
One of the extra features that they offer that we did not take advantage of was a romantic multi course candlelight dinner prepared by Arthur (one of the owners). However one of the other couples did experience it and the food looked incredible. Next time we will pre-order a romantic dinner.
This house was located in a very convenient location and we were able to walk through downtown and visit all of the various restaurants and shops. This was our first visit to Mount Dora and it was a nice getaway for the two of us.

Wonderful overnight stay! Beautifully restored home owned by the most gracious team of John and Arthur. We had them prepare a most outstanding Valentines Night dinner, served by candlelight on the spacious front patio- everything was just perfect! Greeted Monday morning with an amazing breakfast as well. We stayed in the āOlive Suiteā and found it most comfortable. This home is only a 5 minute walk to town if you are interested in seeing the historic district for shoppes and pubs. Extremely clean accommodations, and comfortable bed and pillows. FYI there are no televisions in the suites, which we appreciated as it lent to a very quiet and serene atmosphere. Also an FYI, there are two very well behaved dogs that live on the property. They were as charming as the owners!! We will not hesitate to stay with these fine gentleman again in the future!

Mt Dora is a slice of small town America with a block of shops and restaurants near the expansive Lake Dora.
The Adora in is a modified multi-story house that has been restored to slightly more than its former glory as an exquisite six bedroom B & B run by John and Arthur (who are worth the cost of a night's stay just to meet and talk with for half hour).
We suggest staying in one of the two third floor rooms (Vanilla or Treehouse). The quirky loft room arrangement features beautiful garden tubs and calm and peaceful quiet in very comfortable king-sized beds..
A key feature of any B & B is the second B and John and Arthur are spectacular cooks and hosts. Our breakfast was croissant french toast with seared peach halves and chicken apple sausage. It was delicious.
We highly recommend the Adora Inn if you want to have a relaxing weekend in a lovely little town.
Tell them Bill and Tracy send their best.
