Detailed Reviews
After reading many of the negative reviews of this place we prepared for the worst. (We even brought our own towels!) We took a three day offer with the sales pitch.
The pools, restaurants, bars and nightclub area are all accessed from a main lobby area controlled by a metal detector. At first it seemed cramped and inconvenient, but after a few trips in and out of the place it was second nature. The guards are extremely friendly and polite and if you accidentally bring in drinks from the outside (wife had a death grip on her morning coffee) they nicely pointed out she wasn’t able to bring it in. Once we checked in we were given a brief tour of the overall layout of the place. The main pool wasn’t heated (sadly the weather was overcast and cool) but the other pools and the hot tub were swimmable 24 hours a day and always clean.
Our room was comfortable. It wasn’t updated but the bed was spacious and the shower had great water pressure. Each room has a nice screened in porch and double opening doors as well as a very large mini fridge with small freezer for ice trays. It was a nice touch that fit a bunch of drinks. The food from the bar was great (wings, quesadillas, salads, etc). The drinks were not watered down at all, even on ladies night on Thursday where the wife drank for free for two hours.
The people we met there were absolutely some of the friendliest people we’ve ever met. People were initiating conversations with us everywhere we went. Not everyone walks around naked all the time, but in the pools there wasn’t a swimsuit to be found. We brought robes (highly recommended!) and used them as we traveled from place to place.
For first time visitors we highly recommend going to the Friday night private event. We met couples there that we partied with for the rest of the time there (shout out to you guys: Oklahoma, Ohio, Toronto and New York! You made our short stay there incredibly fun!)
The sales pitch was so low pressure that we didn’t even realize until after we said no that maybe we should have said yes!
The whole place surrounding a central lobby area made it seamless to go from the nightclub to the bar for some food and then to the hot tub for fun and back to the nightclub again without walking for miles.
All in all while there are many other adventures we are going to have, we are seriously reconsidering membership and making this resort a twice a year excursion. Thank you everyone there for making it the best three day getaway that we’ve ever had.

Thank you so much for the 5-stars and the many wonderful observations. We are so proud of our staff for how they support our members and guests, all while ensuring a safe, professional, and enjoyable environment. And we are even prouder of our members and guests in how they help us create an experience like no other. We are so happy to hear how you felt about our membership preview. Yes, we love to gain new members because it makes us better with their presence, but we want people to join because they love it, and it meets a need in their life; not because it just looked or sounded good coming from our membership reps. We love that we can share our resort with so many around the world and we love meeting new friends. We do hope to see you as members in the future but we are happy so long a we get to see you again. We truly believe our resort culture is a perfect place to meet your new best friends!

We spent a recent weekend at Caliente. It was our first trip, though we've been to similar resorts in Jamaica and Mexico. As such, we knew what to expect. We paid a pretty steep price for 3 nights in a "casita," which is a fancy word for very small mobile home as this was the last available option for our days. We found out at the resort that we could have gotten a discounted rate had we chosen to attend a brief sales presentation, but we were not offered the chance.
Check in was very easy and we were given a quick tour by a very nice security guy who seemed to know everyone there. The first impression was the main clubhouse and pools which were all incredible. The front desk staff was prompt and courteous so no complaints.
Then we drove over to our trailer.... Which was a big letdown. The unit was clean, and it did sit on a lake with a nice deck. But that was the extent of the positives. The carpet had holes worn into it by the back sliding glass door, the couch was a futon with rotted wood behind a very worn cushion (they added some plywood to help), there was absolutely no water pressure in kitchen sink (bathroom was fine however), no ice maker in fridge nor trays, the bed was small and very uncomfortable, the blinds were the cheap plastic ones and most weren't functional and some non-existent, and a lot of the trim and other wood around unit was banged up or rotted. While we knew that we were getting a mobile home, we figured it would be kept up a bit better. Our first thought was to refuse the unit, but we decided to give it a shot and rough it for a couple days. We went to the nearby dollar general and got a blanket to cover the futon as well as windex to clean the windows so that we could see the lake.
With that, we had a blast whenever we were not in our trailer. The main complex was great and we loved the pool. All of the staff was very friendly, the food was very good at the restaurants, and they had great entertainment playing by the pool throughout the weekend. In addition, we enjoyed the nightclub and lounge area entertainment. Based on the clubhouse, we would give them 5 stars.
In meeting people around the pool, most were members and had been there many times. None were surprised about our casita experience, and said that they had only stayed in one once. They all agreed that the condos and some of the hotel rooms were much better. Nonetheless, all kept coming due to the rest of the resort and the amount of fun they have had there. We agree, and we will hopefully be back someday soon. We will just avoid the Casitas!!!

Thanks for spending you fun time with us and thank you so much for the kind words about our Ambassador and Front Desk. We are sorry for your experience in our Casitas. Many enjoy them as stand alone units with more space. We are currently working to upgrade them, but it is going one at a time and our Members do get preference on a room. Remember the rates you pay include all those great pools, theme party, and live entertainment throughout the weekend. We hope to see you again soon!

My wife and I have been coming to Caliente for 15 years. Eight years ago we became members. Over the years we have seen hits and misses, probably more misses.
The staff has always been amazing going way out of their way trying their best to make things perfect. What was always frustrating was the staff not having what they need to get things done.
Many complaints have always been the cost of the food and drinks but I’m telling you the food and drinks can be extraordinary and the value in this type of venue is way more than fair.
Anyway back to why I’m writing this year. We have missed the last 2 years because of other travels. This year when we checked into a casita (we travel with our dog) we were very unhappy. A quick call to the front desk, 20 minutes later we were moved to a different casita so much nicer. That night going to bed discovered that the mattress so awful. I called Lynn if housekeeping she and explained the problem. She returned my call in 10 minutes and told me staff was sent to Mattress Firm and would be installing a brand new Mattress which they did within the hour. The 2 men would not even accept a tip.
With COVID ragging and all of the changes in the resort to keep everyone safe and entertained I would give this resort 6 stars if I could.

Thank you so much for the 5-stars and taking time to show our growth. We know were are far from perfect, but we do try hard every day. And yes, we have made leaps in our service and amenities over eh last few years. And we talk often about the next new thing or next improvement. Some future projects include remodeling 8 casitas, improvements in the Hotel and Condos. Remodeling the Grotto Bar area and upgrading our ceiling, lighting, and display system in the night club.

First you as an RCI exchange are hit with an additional $ 199 for taxes, a cleaning during covid 19 that you will not get and their website says other than 7 days stays and we stayed 7 and an activity fee for no activities other than three bands. We were never told of any activity and asked for print out at check in and were given only the three band list. Unit was old, outdated, no internet or wifi, 1 lid for three pans, no baking dishes or bowls for salad, mismatched and chipped dishes, and not even 4 of everything! We had ants every day and called three times for help to no avail. Staff at front desk thought giving us a roll of toilet paper we had requested twice was a real hardship on them when we drove up to get it! Rude EXCEPT for staff at pool bar-- they were excellent and food was fairly priced. You will still spend $ 100 a day as a couple for modest number of drink and food though. Very expensive week and hardly worth the cost of points, maintenance, exchange and additional fees!!

We are sorry you only felt like a 1-star with us. We agree that the Casita in which you stayed was not appointed properly and we purchased new cookware to address the solution for you. During this rainy season ants are a challenge for stand-alone structures, they cannot be simply sprayed for as that does not solve the problem. They were baited, and unfortunately it takes days to solve the issue (killing the nest). RCI very clearly lays out required fees and taxes, which you argued on check-in. We are sorry you did not look at the details of our resort and RCI related fees when you booked. We certainly had more activity than three bands that week and all events were listed in three areas near the front desk. Not only did we have live music poolside Fri-Sun, we had live music in the evenings at our Piano Bar Thurs-Sat. We had Ladies Night on Thursday with free drinks from 8-10pm, along with a DJ for dancing. We also had a poolside party with a DJ Friday night, and a hosted theme party Saturday Night with a Live Band and DJ poolside. We also had open Pickle Ball and Tennis opportunities. Thank you for recognizing our staff at the pool bar. We are very proud of how hard they work to take care of hundreds of fun people having a great time, sans clothing.

The resort is very nice and offers many amenities. However, the Casita #16 through RCI is just okay, but was very clean. The WiFi didn't work which also affected the phone in the unit as unusable for calling housekeeping or the office. The mattress on the queen size bed really needs to be replaced as it was very noisy and uncomfortable for both us. The kitchen had most everything you need for basic cooking. There was lots of storage everywhere in the unit, so you'll have plenty of room for sports equipment, swim floats, clothing, etc. The weekend parties at the club were outside so everyone could socially distance. Since it was the first part of January and the weather was cold, several heaters were strategically place to keep everyone comfortable.

The casitas are a great little areas set off with some beautiful views. So sorry your mattress was not up to par. We are working to get that one replaced. Given the nature of our resort our mattresses get a lot of...well...action! Thank you for noticing the efforts we have in place to keep the party going in all that surrounds us. It posses many challenges but our Members, and Guests have been so supportive.

My wife and I just got back from Caliente resort. This was our first visit and we stayed from Sunday, May 15 until Thursday, May 19. This was our first day at a clothing optional resort and overall Caliente really does provide a no judgment vibe. My wife summed up our trip best while we were lounging next to the pool with the waterfall by saying; “I am not sure whether this resort is extremely relaxing or extremely boring. “ The following are some of the positives and negatives of our trip:
Negatives:
1. When we arrived our room was not yet ready. The front desk told us that we had to have towels in order to use the amenities while we wait for the room, however, they did not offer us any towels to use. When I asked if we could use some towels they said they are in the room and you can have them when you get your room. Common sense would have been to give towels to the guest while they waited. We had to wait close to 3 1/2 to 4 hours until the room was ready around 6pm. This immediately gave us a negative impression to start with.
2. The resort was very slow and there really were not a lot of people in attendance. Part of that is my fault because the resort informed me at the time of booking that the days we were there were there slow days. I just did not realize how slow. On Monday-Wednesday night; we never saw more then 1 or 2 other couples in the conversation pool in the evenings. On Sunday night. We were looking forward to the Rouge room, but when we went in at roughly 9:45pm there was one only one other couple in there.
Positives:
1. Aside from our experience with check in, Every staff member we interacted with was incredibly nice and friendly. The bartenders were excellent and the food was good.
2. As mentioned in my opening, there really is a no judgment mentality and vibe at the resort. This positive vibe made it very easy to adapt to being in a clothing optional environment.
3. Despite the lack of guest and the resort being extremely slow, the handful of people that we interacted with we’re all very nice to talk with.
4. The facilities are well-kept and the pools were very clean and it was very relaxing to lounge by the pools during the day.
Overall:
My wife and I are in the fence if we will return or not. If we do decide to give Caliente another try, we will definitely be booking over the weekend when I am told it is busier.

Hello to you, and thank you for your review! You do pose an interesting question...relaxing or boring. A trip to Caliente can be either, or both, or so much more. You can let yourself relax, unwind, and check out of reality. Or you can jump headfirst into one of the best parties of your life. This, as you found out, depends on the timing of your visit. Monday-Wednesday tend to be more relaxed and slow paced, perfect for when you want time to slow down. Thursday-Sunday, that's when you better hydrate and take a deep breath. :) We're sorry to hear about the interaction while checking in. Our check in time had to be adjusted later due to some staffing challenges. Common sense should dictate that you can't get the towels from your room, and an adjustment should have been made on our part. Our apologies. We'd love to have your wife and you give us another chance. Now that you know a little bit about how the resort works, you can pick a return visit that fits your needs. The same amazing staff and guests will always be waiting for your next visit. Hopefully visit #2 would be worthy of a perfect five, and come with a title of "Relaxing or Boring? Nah, just right!"

We like the grounds and the staff. The staff works their rears off, and they are generally understaffed. They treat their staff well, and some have been there for over eight years. Some of the hotel rooms have had minor updates, replacing the floors and painting, but the furniture is still from the '80s and needs to be updated. It is a shame that they have not made other critical updates to the physical plant.
The hot tub did not work the entire time we were there. It is so old that they have trouble getting parts. To cut costs, they didn't heat the large pool. They could save money by turning off the waterfall and run the heater. For all of the times we have visited, it has been only heated one time.
The spa, which is excellent, has been relocated to what was the clubhouse for the casitas. Which is actually inconvenient, and you now have to either walk or get a golf cart ride from the clubhouse. They are finally embracing being an LS resort by adding a playroom where the spa was in the clubhouse. It was not done when we were there, and they couldn't give us an eta for opening.
We will come back and keep hoping that they will get the investments needed. It still is the nicest LS resort in terms of the pools, clubhouse, and staff in the country. We hope that the new play area is a good sign that they have embraced the LS and know that they have to invest in attracting the LS crowd that is willing to spend money. With the shadow of COVID and people being less willing to travel, they may be able to get some share of the clients going to resorts in Mexico.

Thank you for the 4-stars and the constructive feedback. We are very proud of our staff and how they treat our members and guests. We are sorry the hot tub faced some issues. The large pool cannot be heated effectively due to it's massive size. The water fall is a center piece of the poolside ambiance and is not a factor in heating the pool or not. Night time temps are still dropping a bit more than normal. As the evenings begin to stay warm so will the large pool. The other two pools are heated. We had many people enjoying the pool this weekend and it allowed plenty of space for those desiring more space from others. Yes the spa was moved to a lakeside position in a newly remodeled building. The cart ride is only a couple minutes. This was necessary to provide a much requested play area in the former spa area. We have remodeled the walls and rooms, re-done the electrical, begun painting, and had art work done by an Orlando Theme Park artist. We were able to get some work done during the shutdown and hope to have it open in July. We appreciate your vote of confidence and we have invested a lot into some new ideas to the resort. Keep Coming;)

This review is only for our dinner and evening. We went for Ladies Night on Thursday for my birthday dinner. There were 4 of us.
So for dinner, I'm a little confused. Its called fine dining but people were wearing towels and some nudes just walking past our table right next to us. Ok. I understand clothing optional but then don't label it fine dining. Pork chop and chicken very good. Fillet mignon tips are definitely not fillet mignon. Grisely prices that had taste and texture of stew meat. I did make a comment to our waiter and he seemed surprised and said they were prices cut off another type of meat. No discount considering the amount of meat not edible that I left on my plate. Highly disappointed, especially paying almost $30 for something sub-par.
Went to the bar for ladies drinks which were complimentary. Bar tender was not sociable. Ladies had to get their own drinks to be complimentary. 2 choices of house white that I tried were both horrible. Music good but crazy mix of all different types and time frames. Older crowd but we had fun.
Undecided if we will go back or not.

Thank you for the 4-stars, and we do hope you come back and try us again. Seems like we were great in some areas but missed the mark in a couple. First off, we are a clothing optional resort where members and guests can be nude at anytime and anywhere. Our Fine Dining is not defined by dress, or lack thereof, but by its menu selection and location away from the Sports Bar and Night Club. Sorry we missed the mark with the Filet and this has been passed onto our Executive Chef to address with our cooks. The meat is cut as Filet Tips and, as such, they are not cooked quite the same way as a full Filet, so that may have impacted the consistency. Sounds like the other meal was quite fine though so we are happy to hear that. We are glad you got to enjoy the free drinks at Ladies Night, yes they are for the ladies. Like other restaurants and bars our complimentary drinks are the house blends and we have a choice of two white wines, two red wines, and many well-drinks. If those did to meet your wine palate (very subjective) you are always welcome to pay for a glass of the many varieties of wine we do have. We have passed on the lack of social interaction by the bartender to our Food & Beverage Manager to address that. They do get quite busy taking care of the many members and guests but should be welcoming. We have a very wide range of members and guests and our DJ works very hard to play a range of music such that all get something to their enjoyment. Sorry if it felt somewhat random but we try our best to support all. Thank you for the 4-stars and we hope you give it another go...maybe naked next time for a new experience:) We'd love for you to reach out to us at social@calienteresorts.com to help a little further.

This was our first official stay at a nudist and lifestyle friendly resort. My wife and I had a great time and look forward to returning.
We had planned a brief last-minute getaway at another resort location but upon checking the weather forecast realized that rains and Spring storms would be a factor. I usually like to surprise my wife with our stays and this was my one misstep in booking this stay at Caliente. It takes mental preparation for anyone new to this environment and it took a little time and alcohol to get over the shock factor for her. Fortunately after a quick meal off-premise and a stern rebuttal, we were both able to adjust and appreciate the new surroundings.
The hotel room was comfortable and all the amenities were a brief stroll to the clubhouse. The weather was fabulous and contributed to the relaxing environment around the pools.
Another issue that contributed to my wife's level of comfort was encounters with single males at the conversation pool and hot tub. While there was little strictly inappropriate they did or said, there was a certain creep factor that led her to summon security because one of them kept getting too close to others enjoying their stay. I thought security handled it professionally and discreetly by pulling the couple aside and inquiring about the situation.
We had great conversations with friendly guests and staff. The tour was informative and interesting.

We have been coming here for years and enjoy it very much. Staff appears to have changed since our list visit and for us that’s for the better! Friendly greeting by security when you walk in and the entire staff is smiling and accommodating. Food was amazing as it always has been. And although we completely understand the strict enforcement of no outside food or drinks, some common sense might be suggested and the reason for not giving 5 starts.
My wife used the new spa location and was shuttled by security to the casita area where she enjoyed her spa treatment. She went with a towel in one hand a credit card and key card In another. Once her treatment was completed she felt relaxed and looking forward to getting back to the pool with me. On her way out from the spa she was provided a complimentary bottle of water as she was told to hydrate after her treatment. The shuttle was called and the same nice security officer arrived and was friendly and brought her right back to the pool. She walked in and was stopped at checking point by security told the sealed bottle of water from your spa and l led accordingly that she was just given with instructions to hydrate was not allowed in and had to be checked at the front desk??
Just would think with all the positive changes, some common sense should be encouraged when my wife was brought to and from by security and clearly walked out from your spa with said bottle of water.
We love to come visit and look forward to the next time we can! Great place with exceptional staff and food!

Thank you for the 4-stars and the many wonderful comments. We certainly agree and wish common sense was applied by all. Unfortunately, when this occurs there is an increase in those who choose to cheat the system to sneak in alcohol and illegal drugs. Our hard-working servers and bartenders are tipped staff and this impacts their well-being and the revenue used to create the wonderful atmosphere we offer. Since we cannot read minds and test items we elect to use this policy for consistent enforcement. With over 4,000 guests a week it is a challenge to remember everyone at every time.

I have seen a few people with body jewelry. I think your ring would be OK.
There is a wide range of ages. Seems to be younger on the weekends/night. You’ll see couples in their 20s through their 80s. The Rouge Room is closed.
