Great location. Has a dock and free kayaks and bicycles. Grilling area by the water where you can see pelicans flying . We stayed in the motel (103). Room was clean and loved sitting outside my door and drinking my coffee( has a Keurig) . Has kitchenette, which is microwave and small fridge/ freezer. My only real complaint and it’s in almost every review is the low water pressure, making it hard to get all the shampoo out of your hair in the shower.
Right off the highway and close to everything you’d want to do.

Nice kitchen and room overall. Nice staff. There are barbecue and picnic facilities outside and a dock if you have a boat. The pool closes at sunset but looked nice. And they had a laundry machine and ice machine. Pretty bare bones otherwise, looked more like an RV park and located on the side of the busy highway. Not walkable to restaurants really.

Not to be confused with a similarly named place up the road, Bonefish Bay Motel & RV is a nice place to stay in the Keys. Read the other reviews carefully to make sure they are not talking about the other place.

We were looking for a place in the middle keys to kayak, dive and ride the motorcyle and Mark hooked us up. The place is laid back without being lazily maintained, clean without being sterile and quiet without being unfriendly. The people staying in both the cottages and on the RV sites were welcoming and friendly, creating a nice atmosphere.

The price for a weekly stay was great with no hidden fees or surprises. The room were tidy and clean, the kitchen well equipped and the outdoors area pleasant despite the improvements being made to the place.

We'll be back next year!

My 18 year old son planned an away weekend for him and his girlfriend. After driving 6 hours they weren't allowed to check in to the hotel they booked because he's a "child.".Being 12 hours away, because I was out of town, I called Bonefish Bay and talked to a lady. After explaining what was going on she said she would absolutely give him a room. The 2 "children" that checked in were ecstatic. Between the lady at check in, the room, and everything else that went with their getaway weekend I would recommend this place to anyone. Come to find out it's a wife and husband who run it. Btw, When i called her I told her his name and when he walked in she made them feel welcomed.

Florida keys are expensive, but we spent nights in several other hotels of the same price category in this region. Definitely, bonefish was the worst experience.
We paid nearly 500$ for two nights.
First of all, the good things: the room was spacious.

What we didn’t like:

* you open the door of the room for the first time, you immediately realise there is a strong musty smell. You will encounter this sensation anytime you re-enter the room.

* the broken shower knob. You want to take a shower, pray! With some luck you manage to turn on the water and adjust the temperature. In the end it needs again luck to turn off the water. Just spent several minutes and you may find a position where the water stops. Our complaint after the first night did not lead to any improvements.

* wifi weak and unstable

* room was not ready when we arrived at check-in time (we asked for a discount and got it)

* we booked the room as it was equipped with a kitchenette. A few more knives and forks and so on would be nice.

* one more example that simply shows the low maintenance level. Out of 3 light bulbs in the floor lamps, one was missing and one didn’t work.

Overall, the stay was a very bad experience for us.
It is not well-maintained. The place is not lovely. Do not go there!

The owners recently purchased 7 park model cabins. They are absolutely perfect for a family and being located in the middle of the keys is another plus. Our cabin was clean upon arrival. Just know that the tvs are Roku TVs. You will need to login in you personal streaming services.

The cabins have 2 bedrooms and a loft. The loft has a twin mattress with room for at least 2 twin air mattresses. The second bedroom has a full bed and night stand. The living room has a full size futon. The main bedroom has a tv, dresser, night stands, ac and queen bed. All beds are provided with bedding. The living room/kitchen has a tv, ac, dining table and a chair. The kitchen is well stocked with pretty much everything you need to cook and prep meals. Also included in the kitchen is dish soap/towels, coffee maker and toaster. The bathroom has all bathing needs, a hair dryer and hand soap. There are plenty of beach, hand and bath towels also provided.

Honestly we couldn’t have been happy with our stay and have already referred friends and family.

This RV park was a great family location when fishing and water activities are the focus. We rented a boat and was able to dock the boat at the RV dock. The owners were very helpful and friendly. The RV park is located for a short trip to many of the beaches or attractions. We had a great 11 days.

My boyfriend and I stayed here when we were bouncing around the Keys in December and loved it here! It was a cheaper option but found it really a lovely quiet place to stay. It also has grounds for RVs, and the motel itself is very small- maybe 10-15 rooms max. The check in was quick and easy, I think the owner leaves at night with no reception available. It was within walking distance of several bars and restaurants but far enough off that there wasn’t a lot of people near the motel. It also has a small pool that you can access as well. We liked it a lot here!

I booked a room at Bonefish Bay Motel on December 13th for arrival January 13, 2024. Arrived at the motel at 7pm on the 13th, called the after hours number and was told to go to the office and an envelope with our keys in it would be in a box by the door. It wasn't there. Called again and the manager on duty came down to the office and told me I didn't have a reservation and they were sold out. I showed him my paperwork with the confirmation number for the night and then the excuses started. "I don't know how this could have happened", then it was "you booked on our old reservation system which we haven't used in over a year", then "this happens all the time, we don't know what's going on". He then told me he could get us a room at a different property 5 miles down the road. Not happy but at that point there wasn't much we could do. My fiance and I drove down the highway to the place he gave us and boy did I get an ear full from the clerk there. She told us this happens almost daily, and that the owner of the property we were sent to (Captain Pips) also happens to own the Bonefish Bay. And oh, by the way, the room at Captain Pips was $345 vs. the $178 our reservation was at Bonefish Bay. I was told the same story by the staff the next morning when I mentioned that my reservation wasn't honored at the place I was originally booked at they both said right on que, "the Bonefish Bay Motel, right"?. They in a round about way told my fiance and I this was little more than a bait and switch the owners had been doing for a while. So no, I can't give a review of the rooms at Bonefish Bay but I can tell you to be very careful if you book a room there.

Family trip. Visiting several places in Florida.
Headed to keys and needed a good place to use as a base to head out. Booked 2 rooms. This place is a hidden gem. Clean room. Tile floor. Very spacious. Good shower. Owner Mark, I believe was very accommodating and helpful.
Not the grand Hilton but worth every dollar. We had a roku TV in room which was a little frustrating but came in late each day and didn't watch much. Typical wall unit ac and adequate to cool room off. Several rvs in other side of lot but rv'ers are usually very respectful and no issues at all concerning hotel. Would definitely recommend and would stay there again. Thx Bonefish bay!
