We've stayed several times here in the Oceanfront Queen room. Fantastic view of the ocean and magnificent sunrise views. Good updates have happened to the bathroom and the little kitchenette. Not resorty, but a relaxed feel. The bed is very comfortable. We had all we needed to fix simple meals right there, appreciate the grills on site. Clean, clean, clean
The rooms are very, very clean. Updated recently. Small rooms have 2 beds, small fridge, microwave, table, coffeemaker, toaster. However, there were NO directions for the TV, and after a phone call we received a video which we couldn't see. The internet was so sketchy that we kept getting a request to sign on from the resort next door. Some days we had TV, some we did not. There were remains of a pier, probably taken in the last hurricane in 2017 and not rebuilt, so no fishing from pier as stated in description. The washer and dryer were not working, so no laundry facilities as stated in description. We asked about the rental of kayaks and were told no rentals at this time even though rentals were in the description. We wouldn't stay here again unless we were sure of wifi that worked, tv that worked, fishing pier rebuilt, kayaks could be rented and washer and dryer that were operable.…
The room was clean and comfortable. However, we really couldn’t spend any time outside. The sewer smell at the beach prevented us from enjoying any time there. (I know there are issues with seaweed at times but I don’t think the smell was seaweed because just up the beach at a restaurant we went to, there was no foul smell at all) The smell also permeated the pool area and another guest played their music at full volume the whole afternoon 2 days in a row. When we returned to our room after our kayak tour, no cleaning had been done. It was after 3pm so there was no one to contact to get this done. I don’t NEED daily cleaning but it was advertised and I paid for it. I feel like I should have received it. This place is advertised as quiet and quaint. I did not find this to be true.
Perfect spot for a few days in Islamorada! We agreed that we would happily stay here again. It was clean, clean, clean and everything seemed to be very well cared for. Staff was friendly and the location was quiet. Plenty of space and the location was centrally located to just about everything. Literally minutes to Robbie's and The Lorelei. Highly recommend a stay at the Sands!
Pristinely clean, reasonable, and beautiful location right on the water. They have bigger rooms with a big fridge/kitchenette (fully stocked) that can accommodate 5-6 people. Our room had 2 queen beds and a living room with pull out couch. The room was beautifully renovated. The pool overlooks the ocean. No hot tubs though as I read from past reviews. There’s corn hole, a hammock and grills. Plenty of lounge chairs to relax waterside. Walking distance to Lazy Days, a delicious Oceanside restaurant that also has happy hour! We love it here!
This was an unexpected surprise! Clean, large rooms that were quiet even though the y sat right off the highway. The view of the ocean and the the sitting area near the ocean were wonderful. Our bathroom needed some updating, but the owner told us that they were in the process of updating them. Highly recommend!
Clean room, good amenities, friendly staff. We needed a room for 3 nights that was pet friendly and this place worked perfectly. Great location for what we wanted to do when we were in Islamorada. Definitely would return again. Our dog enjoyed watching the birds in the cage.
This is our second time at Sands. We enjoy the place. It is perfectly situated so we can walk to Amara Cay, Lazy Days, Bud N Marys and the Midway Cafe. But, in our room, the toilet kept running. I had to take the lid off the tank to make sure it would fill after I jingled the lever. I asked the manager ( I assume that's who he was) if he would fix it. His reponse was, "Yeah. I don't quite know what to do about that." Really? I should have offered to fix it if they would buy the parts and loan me the tools. Not sure if we are coming back or not.
This is a hidden secret! Our room was beautifully updated and the grounds were meticulously kept! Robert, the manager on-site, is a hard worker who is constantly cleaning up and maintaining the property. You can tell how much he cares!! We were sad to leave. Our hotel in Marathon cannot even compare. We will be back!! Pool is amazing and the sunrise is spectacular!!
The sands of islamorada is right off HWY 1. It looks like a old motel BUT it has been remolded and was so cute . We had huge king bed - small bathroom . frig. and micowave with dishes for breakfast /coffee maker with coffee. There were 2 chairs outside our room to watch the sunset- small beach with chairs too. Very nice pool and 2 hot tubs. The inn keeper was so nice. He checked on us several times asking if we needed anything. Quiet.
