Not a resort at all. Just like a cheapest motel at any I-95 exits, by the gas station. Do not be fooled by advertising. Not many rooms, barely upgraded bathrooms, though the room was clean, no questions. Do not waste your vacation or a day off, find a decent place for the same money, drive another 5-10 miles. I wouldn’t stay here again even for free,

I recently stayed at Gilberts Resort from May 16th - May 19th, 2021. The room was very clean, and looks very similar to the pictures on the website. What I can say is a couple things, if you are in any way mobility impaired, let them know IN ADVANCE, they only have a single handicap room, or even if you just need bottom floor. I will say that for the price, it did not live to full expectation. For 300$ a night, zero room service, or onsite activities. There is a Tiki bar, and a tiny miniscule beach, but I feel I would have gotten more if I had stayed at a chain hotel for the same price per night. Second thing, I called down in the morning to extend my stay, and I was told they where sold out. During Breakfast my brother looked on line via their booking site, and booked an additional night, (we did have to move one room down). I was told there was a school coming in and all rooms had been taken, so imagine how they felt when they called my brother and inquired if the reservation was a duplicate? Overall, it was a nice place to stay at, but I think I will shop other hotels in the Keys area.

Stayed here to break the trip after arriving in Miami to go down the Keys. Gilbert's is located right at the start of the Keys and is on the water. The hotel is a motel that's been updated with views over the water. Our room was at the end of the second floor and had a gorgeous view. It was updated and very contemporary inside. The tiki bar, restaurant and beachfront were great too - not too busy the weekend we were there so perfect. Gorgeous sunset views from the beach once the day trippers had gone. Breakfast was basic but it's there if you want it. My only criticism was fishing at the end of the dock right by our room - it was a Friday night and there were groups of people making noise there until very late but that's not the hotel's fault. Would recommend but probably ask for a room the other end.

Room Tip: Ground floor has decks - ask for room away from fishing deck if you don't fish!

I usually wait to write a review but our 5 days so far have been great! The cleaning staff were great, friendly and polite! Our breakfast was good, Israel was awesome, made our waffles for us and made sure that everything was stocked. Check in was fast and easy! Thank you for the great stay!

Had a great experience there. Rooms were nice, beds comfortable, showers clean. This place is party central and packed to the hilt with locals. Great bands on weekends, food and drinks at restaurant pretty impressive as well. Pool and dedicated area of beach reserved for guests to view a perfect sunset. If you’re looking for a quiet weekend getaway though, this isn’t place for you.
