Booked for 1 night to check out the area as we are heading on a cruise and wanted to be out of Ft Lauderdale. The price is high for the quality. The room was clean, the plastic is still on the lamps…and staff friendly. The motel is dated, the walls and ceiling are paper thin, so we could hear everything the people around and above us said. It was very loud with guests not observing quiet hours. The wall plugs didn’t all work and the ceiling is painted plywood. The decor has not been upgraded, there were only 3 pillows for 2 people and those were flat. The AC was very loud, making it difficult to sleep. This hotel should be avoided if you are looking for value for money and a quiet nights sleep.
Clean and basic but outside is why you come to the keys! Pool was perfect and a great view of the ocean. The beach area had many tables and beach loungers as well. For an affordable trip and family friendly as well you can't beat this non chain motel!
Came for 5 nights with my mom, for our birthdays. The room was a good size, with a larger fridge than we expected. This was great for storing our drinks, snacks (cheese, crackers, salami, etc). The beds were comfortable and clean, and pillows were very fluffy and comfy (and extra pillows in the closet). Staff came every day and cleaned and provided fresh towels, and pool towels. The room and grounds were all very clean and well maintained. It’s a bit of an older motel but doesn’t feel run down or dated. The pool area was nice, but admittedly we didn’t even get in the pool as we swam the beach instead… there were two big cabanas and ample seating for all guests to enjoy the beach on the property. 20 loungers or so in the white sand, (all brand new by the looks of them) plenty of tables and chairs, Adirondack chairs and rocking chairs. Beach was clean and water was clear and clean. Some sea grasses on the shore each day due to the grasses that line the sea about 20 feet out. They rake and remove it daily though, and it didn’t bother us one bit. Clear white sand into the water, great beach/ocean access. Beach is protected by two small jetties on either side which makes it great for swimming and playing in the calm water (good for kids). Frequently saw dolphins right off the shore. Private club next door offers take out to motel residents which is handy. Also, Jack’s, two doors down has live music over the weekends and was a nice place to wind down with some drinks/apps/live music after a day of adventures. We ended up staying our first night in Miami due to late flights In, and the owner was very helpful and nice, calling to check on us and confirm our check in day/time. Staff were all very friendly and accommodating. Feels like a true family run place, very comfortable. From here we had easy access to the northern keys and southern keys, sights and attractions with ease. We appreciated that it was centrally located and made a great home base for our adventures. Would recommend and stay again.…
The ONLY positive is the beach front location. Do yourself a favor and head down the road to Faro Blanco Resort and Yacht Club for much better for cheaper. Our room had lots of roaches, smoke detector chirped all night, and we were not informed there was construction going on and beginning at 8 am sharp, there was a hammer drill going to town right behind our bed, sounded like it was about to come through the wall. Went to the front desk with our complaints, were told the manager would be there the next morning and nothing could be done until then, and to just take the battery out of the smoke detector (illegal recommendation). Next morning the manager banged on our door and attempted to enter before we even responded. When we went to the front desk shortly after, we were informed the manager was not there. We immediately checked out and went down to Faro Blanco Resort and Yacht Club, where we were given champagne on ice (we were on our honeymoon), drink tickets, free breakfast coupons, area map, etc. And they did everything they could to make our crappy mood a thing of the past (Kyla and Marvell are so understanding and professional), and we paid $30 less per night.…
I needed to collect my thoughts about our stay at this place. We stayed for 3 nights. This place is a step up from being a dump. This room was below par when considering it had no phone, no clock and no coffee maker. The exterior was a bit beat up and the house keeping cart was left out on the cat walk and two doors down from our room. No lite breakfast was available and parking was tight. We had a few roaches in our room and when we told the clerk at our check out it didn’t faze her. The only thing it had going for it was it has about 35 yds of ocean beach and a decent pool. It was about 1/2 mi. south of US 1, on the ocean and close to a few good restaurants (Sparky Landing & castaway Water Front Restaurant). Never again will we stay at this roach motel.
RJ If you are a Karen or run an HOA.. No..! If human go for it.. Old school motel.. Like Apollo launch era..just missing the wood paneled station wagons and girls in beehive hairdos with cateye sunglasses and yellow sundresses....Very nostalgic.. Place has been battered by hurricanes but it's still great.. It's perfect to rest your head at night. Great location and you can explore all of the KEYS from there... You have your own beach that gets cleaned every morning.. The ambience is terrific.. We were literally 15 ft from the beach from our front door.. Great food nearby and a tiki bar next door.. Staff were friendly and the rooms are super clean. Bring a coffee maker..rooms don't have them.. Last day we were there I saw the pool... Sorry I missed it..but I'm a saltwater guy.. Good shower.. plenty of hot water.. Will stay again... So happy we found it...!!!…
Arrived at motel a day late due to a canceled flight. I had called the motel to let them know my flight was canceled and I would be arriving late. Asked the front desk for any kind of discount due to circumstances beyond my control. I was advised my request would be given to manager and she would call me back. Did not receive a call from manager. When inquiring again, I was told that I would receive a $50 refund. When checking out, I asked to speak to the manager and was told she was running errands. My print out shows a charge of $50 and a refund of $50. I asked for the manager's name, was told her name was Marissa. I asked to speak for upper managements
This place is great for the price. The people who work here are so kind and inviting. The room is neat and clean. It is not extravagant, but for the price, it is wonderful (great location). There is a small beach, a lovely pool, covered cabanas, etc. We will stay here again!
We stayed at Key Colony Beach Motel for 5 nights. They have very clean and basic rooms. There are no microwaves and no hair dryers. The only views of the ocean are from the suites. BUT, the outside pool/beach area can not be beat while in the keys. For a small mote; there is a private beach, palm trees and a very nice swimming pool. There are tables under shade to sit and eat outside. We would book again.
The motel rooms are clean and steps to the beach. This is a great little place however currently the construction next door begins @ 7:15 am and ends at sundown 7:30 pm so 12 hrs of nonstop noise, so if you're looking for a little R&R onsight, this is not the place. Our trip here canceled last March due to the covid shutdown so we've been looking forward to this March for a year... to say we were disappointed is an understatement. Definately avoid the right side of the hotel (odd side). We asked to be moved to the other side of the building however nothing was available.
