Unfriendly feel to the place. The desk clerk was kind and friendly at first but then the manager (or owner?) appeared and scolded the clerk. This manager was not customer friendly. We were placed on the 2nd floor in a room that had an adjoining door to another room and we could hear every word. The rooms look tired and old. My bed cover had a stain on it. It was adequate but not great.

Bathroom poorly maintained. Tile coming off; gaps in tile in tub/shower; mold around tub caulking; faucet drips; marks on bedroom wall. Breakfast was limited, even for this class of motel. No eggs, waffles, fresh fruit, etc. Guests went next door to Dunkin Donuts or a nearby diner for breakfast. Manager charged an additional $100 deposit to be refunded after our stay. I have never heard of this; we're not rock stars at risk of trashing the room. We were tempted to cancel and leave as a matter of principle, but had no decent options at the time.

UPDATED THIS REVIEW TO REFLECT CORRECTION TO MY CREDIT CARD BILLING: The outside of this hotel is fine, although it is sort of tucked way back in a winding path behind a strip mall and the entrance is not evident upon arrival. We had to work a bit to find the front door. The evening clerk was less than enthused to see us upon our 8:30 pm arrival. Not entirely sure why! He asked me to run my credit card through, and I did. It processed normally. To my surprise, he asked me to run it again, after a few minutes. I asked, "I hope it won't charge me twice, will it?" and he replied no, and that it had not gone through successfully the first time. This review is updated to reflect that although I got charged twice, I did receive a refund for the duplicate billing to my credit card. So on that count I am satisfied. When we went to our second floor room, we noticed that the carpet on the 2nd floor hallway smells dank and musty when you get off the elevator. Not nice. The carpet in the room ditto. It is just a dirty feel, not fresh, not pleasant. I was glad we were only passing through and spending one night. For some unknown reason we were assigned a room that had a locked door that adjoined to another room. I am not sure why this was the case. But we could hear pretty clearly the music and conversation in the room next to us from midnight to 1:30 am, which was unfortunate, given that we had to get up early, check out, and be off to an event in Milford the next day. However, we were in bed already and did not wish to change rooms, so we put up with it. Why we were assigned this kind of room is unclear to me. The beds were comfortable, however, and we slept well once we were able to sleep. Having the grocery store (Food Lion) next door to the hotel was very convenient, and we used it twice, to buy water and to buy other groceries for the road.

1. Delaware has a mask mandate. The front desk clerk was not wearing a mask. 2. Front desk clerk was less than friendly. I would describe her as 'surly'. 3. I had requested a first floor room and was told one was not available, but the hotel was almost empty. I think first floor rooms were available, but they didn't want to give me one. I also requested a room that was not used the night before - have no clue if this was true or not. 4. Choice hotels are supposed to recognize and offer a property gift to the loyalty club members. I am the highest level and received neither recognition nor gift. 5. Sign on the front desk said that all credit cards would have a $150 hold against them for 'incidentals'. Have no idea why since the property has nothing to sell other than the rooms. 6. A/C unit did not work properly and I had to be moved to another room. Went to front desk to get key to new room and clerk asked for the key to my current room and asked if I have already moved my things. HUH? I didn't know where I was being moved to nor did I have a key. I had to assure her that I'd bring the old room key back before she would give me the new room key. I was made to feel like I was trying to scam them out of a second room for the night. Seriously? 7. TV remote did not work in the new room. Took to front desk for new batteries. Still does not work. Gave up since I knew there was no point in talking to the front desk again. 8. Went to breakfast less than 1 hour after opening. Breakfast offerings: Coffee, tea, and juice. Three types of cereal. About 10 fruit cups. 8 pieces of bread. This paltry offering confirmed my suspicion that hotel was mostly empty and I should have gotten the first floor room I requested. I would have overlooked each of these things individually, but taken together they speak to a poorly managed hotel. Take your money elsewhere.

Tried to book online but the site would not take info so I called and was told don’t worry about it, come on down. I printed the online price and went and they gave a higher price. When I questioned it and tried to show them he said I don’t need to see that. This is our price, do you want to book it. I’ve stayed there before and work a few times a month in the area. Not the nicest hotel but a few dollars cheaper than some others. Not worth it They’ve lost my business this night and all going forward.
