My daughter and I took my grandchildren there for a day and a night. The hotel is very close to the beach...about a 5 minute walk, if that. Our room was large and had two queen sized beds. We payed $25 extra for a cot. It was clean and comfortable. We really appreciated being able to check in early. We were only there for the day and night and being able to check in early was very convenient nice of them to accomodate us. It was very quiet. I would have paid extra to be able to stay a few more hours after checkout but it was not possible. I would stay there again.
First off Dewey itself isn’t the greatest place to visit right now. Everything was takeout and if you want to dine in you pretty much have to go to Rehoboth. The hotel was not what I had hoped for. They didn’t have anything on their site about all the things they closed due to covid. The pool, gym, and breakfast room were all closed. Walking around Dewey we saw other pools open and so I feel like the owner here was just lazy and didn’t feel like doing whatever he needed to do to please his guests. They said he’s probably not opening the pool all season. They also did not clean our room or give us supplies daily. You have to call for things or go to the desk. Then they have this envelope in the room like they want a tip, kinda funny to us to expect a tip. I would not come back to this hotel. They should have let us know that these things would all be closed and given the option to cancel. I feel like we were misled.…
Gold Leaf seemed to be a decent get away. I actually called the front desk to make a reservation as I had some concerns during the Phase 2 re opening in Delaware. I was told there was daily house keeping but no free breakfast or access to pool or fitness room which seemed reasonable. What I discovered was there was NO daily housekeeping whatsoever and I had to call down daily for towels, coffee packets, and soap! Also, the room wasn't particularly clean as I disinfected everything once I arrived. Also, a very noisy place with people constantly slamming doors or yelling outside at all hours of the night. I was there from Monday thru Friday. I would hate to see what its like over the weekend!
Conveniently located right on Hwy 1, Coastal Hwy. From the hotel, it's one block to the beach! Clean, comfortable rooms and friendly staff. Good variety in the breakfast room. Hotel has it's own parking deck. The hotel across the street has a public deck that's perfect for sunsets.
We stayed at this hotel because our son was in a baseball tournament and the other families booked here. It served its purpose of providing a place for us to stay. I would never book this for a vacation stay. The parking deck is tiny tiny tiny. If you have a truck or SUV, forget it. The top deck is the smallest area yet and if you get up there and find no spots, good luck turning around. The breakfast was ok. They did make little egg rounds which were perfect to make egg McMuffins. The dining area is in a strange location and kind of a weird set up. I didn’t even set foot on the beach so I can’t really tell you about that. Dewey beach is very much a college student location, not extremely family oriented. You are better off staying in Rehobeth as that is where the families in our party wound up each night.…
