Dahican Surf Resort (DSR) has probably the best shoreline in Mati, with pristine blue/turquoise waters and white, fine sand covering the area. Inside the resort one can find small yet very simple accommodations. shared toilets and shower areas, restaurants and kiosks selling cold drinks/ smoothies, and locals offering surfing lessons for a price. There are table and seating areas close to the shoreline that are free to use, although they are not most comfortable but they the job. Just make sure to stay in the shaded area as the scorching heat of the sun especially at noon time can be quite overwhelming. We only came for a day tour so I’m not sure about their room prices. But you can for sure contact them on their facebook and inquire. Getting to the resort is quite easy cause they have a sign along the highway that says you’ve arrived in DSR. One can always ask the locals on the way too for directions.

Room Tip: Bring a lot of sunscreen. The heat of the sun can be too much especially at noon time.

From Manila to Davao Airport take a taxi going to Gmall and theres a van terminal there going to Mati City. Once you arrive. Take a tricycle/Toktok going to Dahican. Best for group of friends who wants to beach party and get drunk. Best for surfers .Not recommmeded for those who want to relax and rest. Food is also available in the resort, lots of restaurant.

writing this review cos i’ve read reviews of the unsatisfieds. and that that i’d like to say that yes those are all true, and, but i also wanna be fair and speak about the last visit. visited recently for the Nth time. it’s the STAFF. really. and i don’t know if the owner is ever aware. but some things noticeable. the staff are more subdued this time. not going out of their way still. not very smiling. not even smiling at all still. but at least no hint of arrogance so far the kind that would make you think twice and end up rather not putting up with for thinking, you’re obviously more exposed but that you’d swear to god you’re going through the WORST vacation ever. i think, slowly and i mean slowly, they’ve come to terms, that their guests are royalties and they are all slaves by job responsibilities not wanting to suffer the same fate as the now nowhere to be found amihan sa dahican. what when there are other better more exclusive resort far left. hmnnn... i’ll go in the middle with my ratings, and let’s see about this thing called, consistency.

The room had no hot showers, had a busted shower head, and only had one electric plug working. We ordered 2 large pizzas for dinner and only one arrived AFTER 2 HOURS. There were 3 brownouts that evening and the property had no backup generators. The pool was dirty and nobody was swimming. Wifi was free but very slow.

The saving grace was the host who was very accomodating and helpful.

First, I would like to say the location was great. Lovely beach and the accommodation ( not a resort) was right on the beach.
Dahican Surf Resort (DSR) however was terrible. The staff there seemed totally disinterested. The establishment itself was really nothing more than a number of huts thrown on to an allotment of land. This was hardly a resort. More like meagre accommodation. My room, which I specifically requested have its own toilet and SHOWER, did not have a shower, just a bucket and cold water faucet. For this privilege I paid over 6000php. Not what I would consider value for money.
Anyway, my recommendation. Visit the beach, by all means stay a few days to relax and enjoy. But research your accommodation and give this place a wide berth.

During my recent stay at the resort, I was thoroughly disappointed with the overall experience. The accommodations were subpart, with outdated furnishings and a lack of cleanliness that left much to be desired. The service fell short of expectations, as staff members seemed indifferent to guest needs and were slow to address concerns.

I travelled 12 hours from Cagayan de Oro City via Bukidnon-Davao but worth it. This is the best place for Neophyte Surfers. Amazing waves. White sand. Crescent-like shore. Clear waters. I am so inlove with this place. Affordable cottage, friendly staff and lifeguards. Not so crowded.

If you are looking for a chill, laid back beach adventure getaway, then head over to Dahican Surf Resort which is situated in the heart of Dahican beach which offers a pristine view of the fabled beach. Not such a beach-bum? The resort offers skim boarding and surfing lessons (when waves are in season) for Php 150/hour and Php 300/hour with board and surf instructor.

You won't have a reason to get bored here because even if the waves are flat, you can also go snorkeling or free diving just in front of the resort.

The resort has dorm-type accommodations fit for 5 people. You can also opt to set up tents around the resort area. The place also provides clean common toilet and bath when you want to rinse the saltwater off.

For food, they don't have a regular offering of meals for cooking but they do have a dedicated grill area where you can cook your own food, the ultimate island life experience.

(I would have given this resort a perfect 5 if it weren't for the incredibly inconsiderate and rude staff.)

My 5 friends and I decided to pitch our own tents to best experience the beach. The lady who gave us information gave us the perfect spot to put our tents. We ate dinner, drank, and immensely enjoyed the entire evening.

Here come the worst part of this resort which ruined the experience - right outside where our tents (literally 3 steps away) at 5:30 in the morning were a flock of the resort's surf instructors, cleaning crew, and some other staff, talking, jeering shouting at one another, singing loudly, crooing for some reason, waking us up. They didn't leave and stop shouting even if I starred at them after rudely awoken. They stayed until 6:30am and even afterwards they're still shouting within the resort. I swear I've mistaken waking up to the local market.

There were other guests who passed by the camping spot but didn't linger and moved on, these group of surf instructors might as well be the guests themselves and own the place.

Don't rent the tents. I think even the ones who stayed in the huts or bungalows heard these rude boys.

Stay for the ambiance but if you want peace and quiet and a good sleep, DO NOT stay here. It's a shame since they offer quaint bungalows and the perfect beach ambiance, but if the staff themselves cannot respect the paying guests then it's not worth staying here. Common courtesy.

Worst place I have been, so far. I’ve been to 45 countries and countless resorts/hostels and this one is by far the worst one. Paid reservation but had to talk for 2 days because they don’t understand anything at all. They reserved 2 rooms less and said the others can stay in dorm, when we got there dorm was fully booked & some of us ended up staying in tents. Accommodation wise, rooms are dark, old and too small. We also had to wait for our tents because the front desk didn’t know which tents they were. No noise regulation too, they don’t care if guests are too loud around the rooms and it disturbs the other guests in the middle of the night that are sleeping. Wouldn’t stay here ever again & will always be recommending this place but the other way around, “DO NOT STAY IN DAHICAN SURF RESORT”
