Always an exceptional experience! Whether for business or a stay-cation, we love the property. The personal touches and attention to detail make this a comfortable and warm stay. Staff is amazing and the location can't be beat.
We're a couple of Brits on a road trip. We stayed here in November 2019 I confess I'm a little hazy about which bit is the Rochester and which the Leland, but we had a lovely first floor room with doors into the garden. A really friendly and helpful welcome (and a complementary Prosecco as it was our wedding anniversary!), a lovely room, great location and excellent breakfast. The hotel is very stylish in a not-fussy sort of way: a clever trick to pull off. Felt opulent but not oppressive. I really felt that it was my ideal hotel!
The Rochester Hotel was a perfect spot for a Halloween getaway in Durango. From the time we stepped through the door to the moment we left, everything was wonderful. The hotel staff is efficient and happy to serve; the afternoon tea/coffee features homemade cookies (delicious) and scones and they are happy to share recipes; the bedrooms are spacious and comfortable; the breakfasts feature a special cooked meal each day, along with homemade granola, yogurt, and scones. Each room is individually decorated with period furniture but a totally modern bath and wall-mounted TV. One thing we noticed was the cleanliness; everything was spotless. (It's hard keeping an older building dustfree, but they did.) Late October is sort of between-seasons in Durango so the hotel was not full.…
Once again, this was a great place to be for a combination of mountain climbing in the La Plata mountains and enjoying food and beer in Durango. Both breakfasts were delicious, and the staff was very helpful. Bed very comfortable.
We stayed at the Leland House. Management kindly upgraded us to a suite, which is a much more spacious room, with a small kitchen, living room, bedroom and bath. Nicely refurbished rooms. Great breakfast in the hotel, nice servers. Lots of cool western photos in the hallways. Free parking in private lot. It wasn't too busy our few days so it was quiet. I could see if it was busy that the noise level might be a bit much in an older building.
