Detailed Reviews
Hotel's Favorite
This location offers nothing nearby for food or shopping but its very close to the South San Francisco Convention Center where my meeting was held. I believe it was updated during Covid so if you can get an updated room, that will be just fine. My room was clean and well appointed. As others said the rooms are very dark. Which is odd for sure! The on site restaurant was very good and they have a solid wait staff. Front desk staff at the hotel was excellent as well. There is a Costco nearby and a Sees Candy store…both an easy walk from the property. It was raining while I was there so didn’t do much more walking around as it is also pretty industrial but there may be more restaurants etc if you want to walk a bit!

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the tower away from the front desk. Eat in the restaurant on site.

Of the Hilton brands, I have never really been a fan of Doubletrees as they seem to just be older Hilton properties rebranded and after my stay, still feel this way.
The good: nicely renovated former Holiday Inn. Bathroom is large with a walk in shower. Nice finishes and lighting in the hallways. Shuttle services does run when they say and had no issues finding it at the airport. Oh, and Doubletree cookies.
Things that didn’t impress me: the lighting in the rooms is pretty dark. It is warm and inviting but trying to look through your suitcase can be difficult. Also, the walls are super thin and the floor is wood I believe. I could hear every footstep, cough, sneeze, hair dryer, and nose blowing episode of the ill person in the room next door. (Hope they get feeling better soon) The other major thing is if you have food and beverage credit, restaurant only and not valid on the day of checkout. Not sure if that is just this property or a shift in Hilton but if you have it, don’t think you can use it on a sandwich and a coke at the sundry shop.
So if need a place to stay, it is that, but I wasn’t sad leaving.

Although website says they have a restaurant - there wasn't one when we visited - there are also no close walking distance food places other than McDonald's and a gas station. They do sell sandwiches in the sundry store in the lobby which was pretty decent for a prepackaged piece. The room itself was large, but dark. Fair amount of highway noise. Bathroom had lots of shelf & counter space, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, hair dryer. Room had safe, coffee maker, mini-fridge, iron & board. Free airport shuttle.

Ants everywhere and hostile hotel personnel!
We got this hotel because our airline got cancelled, but this is an experience we will never stay at. We have some bakeries in the room and the next morning when we are checking out we find that ants are all over it my wife’s bags and clothings (she has bad allergies and this could have been much worse)
While we are complaining about this issue at the front desk, this particular staff just keeps deflecting the issue and keep on saying thing like “oh it seems somehow isolated to just your room”, “we don’t normally see this” instead of acknowledging the issue first. Is it our problem that we have ants in our room???
Meanwhile, my wife went to get some water in the kitchen. Ants still on her and she started and trying to get them off her. At this point the front desk person rudely tells us to leave, again without first acknowledging the issue and having some empathy on the guest’s well-beings.
While waiting for shuttle in the lobby, my wife continue to experience discomfort and tried to get the ants off her. The same hotel personnel again rudely confronts us from his counter and making unfriendly gestures asking us to leave, directing verbal abuse to us, calling us “crazy” for calling out his inappropriate behavior and lack of empathy.
At this point we have to leave to catch our shuttle, his supervisor came out and apologized to us, asking how they could make this better. We requested a direct apology from this rude staff. As soon as him hearing this, this person got so fired up and yelling at us “Not a chance”. At this point we are fed up, but we also have to leave to catch our flight.
Avoid this place like a plague, unless they address the ant problems and hire some front desk staff that knows how to respect the guests better.

+1
Pros:
Comfortable Bed.
Spacious Room with decent amenities.
On site 24h mini market.
Friendly and diligent staff.
Cons:
A live roach was observed in the bathroom.
The room initially assigned had an occupant in it, the hotel had no idea that this room was not vacant, luckily the room was double locked from inside so my key didn't open it, went to the reception and a staff member came along with me to attest that indeed the room was not vacant. Had to come down a 2nd time in order to get assigned to a truly vacant room.
The rooms seem to have been recently remodeled, however I did notice a few details inside the bathroom which hopefully the hotel can rectify in this and any other room which is in the same situation.
The mini market does not list any prices except for coffees, you have to find out when paying at the front desk which is a bit inconvenient, specially when you have airline issued meal vouchers.

I stayed for 2 nights but rechecked in for the second night put my wife name on the reservation on the first night on the second night I told them to put her name on the reservation and if I could have a late check out they gave it til 1pm. When my wife tried to get a parking pass they denied her the pass because they didn’t put her name on the reservation. Also they went inside the room before 1pm with my luggage being inside. They canceled my keys how am I supposed to get my stuff. They didn’t put that we were leaving at 1pm even though they gave me the late checkout. Also the if your a loyal Hilton Honors member like I am (Diamond) I got a $30 food and beverage credit. They didn’t explain that you have to use it in the restaurant only. I’ve stayed at other hotels and they use the credit for the store market or the restaurant. I got stuff at there market to later when I checked out they charged me the $30. I don’t recommend this property. Rude front desk employees. Don’t know how to do there job. Manager don’t care what’s going on. I use to run a hotel property and follow up with clients if they hadn’t checked out yet. Before entering the room and double checking their stay profile.

A nice airport hotel with decent room for an overnight stay but be careful of the terrible shuttle service. It is very easy to miss your flights with this hotel.
The whole point in staying at the airport hotel is to get a comfortable room and the ability to get in and out of the airport quickly. An airport hotel should have a frequent shuttle service so that people can catch their flights especially early in the AM. Combining sfo airport traffic, with this hotel scheduled shuttle service of 45 minutes, you can wait for an hour before getting to your flights.

I'm a native of San Francisco and lived in San Bruno for many years so when visiting home this little gem is my go too. I really like this hotel, this was my second time staying here, the staff is always available and extremely friendly. Great location, minutes from the airport/car rental, freeways/interstate, shopping: tanforan and serramonte malls, restaurants, banks, public transportation, grocery stores and not too far from San Bruno, San Francisco and Pacifica. If you're a Hilton rewards member you have use your credit at their restaurant, and pay for parking. I was told that I should request housekeeping the day before if I need service but the hotel is very clean. I don't know what's going on with the hotels and housekeeping but I guess it saves me money because I was taught to tip housekeeping daily. Anyway upon exiting my room I saw housekeeping and the lady asked if I needed sevice.
Downside, my bed was uncomfortable, I'm still waiting for the extra pillows I requested at check in, I've yet to be offered a complimentary room upgrade, my cookie had walnuts-which I'm allergic too, and I tried to call the day before I checked in and no one answered- all minor nuisances.
My brother stayed here as well but checked in separately and enjoyed his stay as well.
I'll definitely stay here again.

Upon check in traveling from Florida a 4.5-hour flight I was given a room to check into that was completely dirty, so I was provided another room that had hair on the sheets and the floor. The next morning the power flickered and came back on immediately only for 30 minutes later the power goes completely out with a 3-hour timeframe before regaining power. I understand things happen, but the manager said the entire city was out of power but the streetlights and businesses surrounding the hotel were still lit up- I felt there was a little deception. The Manager told me I would get a full refund because I checked out to go to a hotel .5 miles that had power and now no one is answering the phones at the hotel. I hope if you decide to stay here that your experience is better than mine. I’m hoping a manager reaches out to me so I can be refunded if not I will go to the BBB.

This hotel is very new. Our room was clean. One big plus for me was the window can be opened. Nowadays, the windows of most hotels cannot be opened, which forces you to breath recirculated air. The fitness room had a few cardio machines, a pulley resistance machine, and a complete set of dumbells. Also, the fitness room had a water machine allowing you to refill your water bottle. However, the room's nose level was marginally acceptable, from both outside and adjoining units.
Initially, a male front desk clerk could not locate our booking. Fortunately, Supv Natice found it, thank God!
As usually, Double Tree always has those warm cookies for guests. My daughter was asking for it everyday :)
