The historical Casablanca Inn is strategically located across the street from the Santa Cruz beach, a block away from the wharf and the boardwalk. All our rooms are beautifully decorated and have a breathtaking view of the beach. Some of our rooms have a unique design which reflects the distinct character of the historic Cerf Mansion. Over the years, the Casablanca Inn has been fortunate enough to cater to some of the most influential and famous personalities of our time, which has immensely appreciated the elegance that our hotel has to offer.

Decent, old-school room with a great view. Stayed for 3 nights. Bring extension cords and power strips, as outlets are limited. And bring a small fan for the window to bring in the ocean air. Nice people working there, but they failed to clean the laminated wood floor, which was filthy and blackened our feet on the first day. I asked to have the floor cleaned and toiletries replenished on the morning after our first night (I said no need for new towels) and was told someone would be there to clean. No one even came to the room to provide toilet paper, let alone clean the floor. I asked two more times on the second morning and afternoon. I was told it is hard to keep the floors clean because of the sand and proximity to the beach, but they would mop the floor for us. Still no floor cleaning, though they did come in and swap out towels (which wasn't needed - except for the super dirty bathroom floor towel). I finally mopped the floor myself on the third day with a wet towel. The amount of filth on the towel was disgusting. It might help to start a family's stay with a clean floor. They might be inclined to keep it clean!

There is MAJOR construction going on right next to this motel, which means if you have a room facing the construction you can see and hear all the workmen and they can see you and into your room. The new building has also blocked some of the partial view to the ocean. So, at present it is not a nice peaceful stay as expected, very noisy during the day and no privacy. There is no breakfast at the hotel really other than a pastry and coffee, so not worth anything. Car parking is ok with a flat area at the top of the hotel. The rooms are ok but the floors have not been cleaned and our feet are black, so that might need some attention. We were given another room with less stairs to climb, so that was good but the construction negates any benefits of staying by the sea. Perhaps book somewhere away from this major construction. Otherwise, location near the pier is good, the Boardwalk attractions are really only open now on weekends apparently. We go down the road to a cafe for breakfast and there are some places to eat dinner close by.

Was looking for a quiet, quick get away during the week and this was perfect. Chose to visit SC specifically when the boardwalk was closed to be there without crowds and noise. I called & spoke to a very nice woman and I was quite clear what I was looking for - a non-ground floor room with a private balcony. I was given a brand new room (#309!) with a great view.
Initial plumbing issue resolved very quickly in the morning by a very friendly staff.
Note the construction site in the two photos. Might kill that view 👎
Location is awesome.

We were talked into paying more than double for the room with the best view, the Captains suite. A pretty room, good view. BUT...no one answered the phone when I tried to find out what ‘amenities’ would be provided. Oh well. The ‘kitchen’ was barely more than a fridge & coffeemaker. No one from office ever called to say when the room was ready (around 4.)Construction/demolition going on. No one cleaned the room - no one offered to help carry the bags up & down numerous staircases to find access to the room. When we complained, the only staff guy, a new employee, could not get a cleaner, maintenance, management, or owners to respond. He was eager to help, but unable to. So the 2nd night of our vacation was very disappointing. Also, There were unsavory characters hanging around- even looming, making me feel unsafe. These men seemed to be living in empty rooms. This was a shocking & very expensive splurge.

Just spent a Saturday night at the Casablanca.... we arrived and mentioned at check-in that we were there to celebrate our anniversary. When they were showing us to our room, they offered us an upgrade for a nominal fee. It was for the Captain's Room. Ummm, YES PLEASE!

If you can swing it, this room Is perfection. Ocean views from every window. Huge copper bathtub. Kitchen! Fireplace! Couch/hide a bed. Private patio with 2 lounge chairs, a full-size patio table and chairs with umbrella, two more sitting chairs with a table in between. It was huge. I can't say enough about how pleased we were. We walked to Las Palmas tacos for lunch upon arrival and it was BOMB. We bummed around the rest of the day... drove to Davenport to watch the sun set, back to Santa Cruz for a drink at The Blue Lagoon then ordered take out Thai at Sawdasees attached to the Casablanca. Yummmm. We'll be back!!!

My boyfriend and I stayed at Casa Blanca for our 7 year anniversary. I had been to Santa Cruz several times and had seen this hotel from afar. It looked very beautiful and luxurious so we thought for such a special occasion we would book it. It did not disappoint. We fell in love with this hotel! Our room was so nice and the beach view was breath taking. We didn’t even want to go out because of how cozy and nice our room was. But it was very easy to go to the beach, the pier, bowl, arcade or try restaurants because of the location of Casa Blanca. Everything was of a walking distance, we didn’t even need to drive. Our room included a king sized bed, kitchen, private balcony, tub, fire place and a bathroom with a walk in shower. Everything was of a high quality and very clean. The personal was very welcoming and helpful as well. Over all such a great stay. This is the hotel we will be staying at from now on every time we visit Santa Cruz.

Right across the street from Santa Cruz Beach & Boardwalk.
We arrived early and Vanessa told us our room was ready, BUT it was going to cost $25 to check in early. I've never had that experience. We could have gone and driven around for 2 hours, but decided to pay it. Very dog friendly, but didn't like the gravel pit for dogs to do their business in. My dogs wouldn't go, and there was a guest with a VERY LARGE german shepherd that was intimidating to my dogs. There also was NO place for them to go within 4 blocks of the hotel, except on the beach. Dogs are not allowed in common areas of the Beach Boardwalk, but you have to cross the common areas of the beach to get to the beach. Additional note - no dogs allowed on the Wharf which is also across the street.
Vanessa was extremely helpful in answering questions, and our room was very nice with a balcony with a view of the beach. But I have to say the rooms were not to my taste - gray and white with no pictures or other color. Very nice refrigerator and microwave and a coffee pot. No breakfast - COVID.
When the upstairs people checked in later that night, it was very noisy, so rooms aren't soundproof. Bed was comfortable and bathroom very clean although the towels looked like Motel 6 towels. Nothing special with additional character. There is a Thai restaurant connected to the Inn, and several rooms and levels.

I don't usually leave reviews online, but my experience here was so poor I felt obliged to warn others. I booked a room here for a weekend getaway with my girl friend, for Friday and Saturday night last February, 2021. With tax the room came out to $400.00 a night. Pricey, but it is close to the water, and the pictured rooms looked decent.

The room we stayed in was dark, poorly lit, and didn't have enough windows. Right off when we got in to the room we noticed a loud squeal coming from the walls, and this was 9:30 at night. It sounded like it was coming from laundry equipment that ran constantly throughout our stay. There was also an ice machine outside that had a loud fan that kept turning on and off all night. I never thought of ice machines being loud before this, but this one was. The walls seemed to be paper thin, and we could clearly hear conversations going on in the office next door. It was early in the morning, when I asked them if they could keep it down, and they just kept chatting it up, as if we never even asked. There was a ton of foot traffic in front of the room as people were checking in / out. The bathroom sink was outside the bathroom, and shoved in to a corner in the main bedroom, which was just plain weird. The last straw for me was when we ran out of toilet paper.

We asked for a different room, and they refused to move us. They refused to give any discount or refund. His argument for not giving money back was that room quality was "subjective" which I just found insulting given how bad the room was. He was willing to give us a discount on a future stay, and he admitted to having better rooms, but after such a bad experience no way I am going back there and giving them any more of my money.

TLDR - If you want to play a game of motel room roulette than this is your place, otherwise I would keep looking!

In the past we have stayed at basic hotels and have no problem with "no frills," but Casablanca is the first time that we left a hotel feeling as if we had been ripped off.
Not only were the provisions inferior (skimpy towel supply, dirty dog area, misrepresentation about having Netflix, bathroom in need of major paint), but several of the staff were ineffective and unfriendly.
Rather than staying a second night as planned, we realized that it was not worth it. The location is convenient and the views are beautiful, but the exorbitant prices and unaccommodating staff left us feeling that it would be well advised to book a stay elsewhere.

Fantastic location overlooking the ocean, if you opt for an ocean view room. We stayed in Room 105 which had a balcony looking straight onto the ocean and boardwalk. The room was very large and nicely appointed, with two queen size beds and panoramic ocean view. We felt welcomed by the reception staff who were helpful and friendly. Parking was plentiful and free. If you want an ocean view be aware that the road runs in front of the beach, so there will be some traffic noise, but it certainly wasn't intrusive and a small price to pay for a magnificent view.

There is a thai restaurant that shares the building on the street level. Their food is very good. I was not happy with a small mexican taco place that is right near the pier, so maybe avoid that. cheers
