Stayed here for work. Great value for the price. Extremely friendly staff, clean room. Very quiet when I stayed. Loved the little balcony since I'd been driving all day to get there. Mercedes at the front desk is the best. If I need to come back, this is my hotel of choice.

This hotel is super clean with nice decor. The beds were very comfortable, the room was spacious with a nice balcony, and the bathrooms were fresh and modern. The staff was attentive and super friendly, and the front desk attendant even had wonderful recommendations for dinner. The location is less than a five-minute drive to the heart of San Luis Obispo's downtown creek area, which is exactly what we hoped for. We had our young dog with us and we also appreciated the enclosed dog area very much! Having a full, hot breakfast with so many options was such a wonderful value and time-saver, plus it was delicious! We couldn't have been happier. What a gem of a hotel, especially for the price!

We booked a room with another hotel chain and ended up leaving in the middle of the night because it was so horrible. We ended up at the Best Western Royal Oak and it was just what we needed. Clean, safe, nicely designed rooms and pet friendly! The staff was super helpful and went out of their way to accommodate us since it was such a last minute reservation. This is the second time we've stayed at this hotel and we should have stayed here from the start.

The beds were very comfortable and even during COVID, they still managed to provide breakfast "sacks" due to the buffet being unavailable. I felt completely safe at this hotel.

We travel quite a bit and found consity with Best Western. The Royal Oak has nice piece of property and centrally located. The property has nice pool to relax and heated, noticed they monitor the cleanliness of the water and pool area in the morning. Staff was friendly and made every attempt to assist us if needed.
WE had room 208 and had nice little balcony to relax overseeing the pool.

This hotel has alot going for it but we travel with a small dog unfortunately the room smelled horrible we were located by the back door, laundry, and the vending machines, noise and more noise. We are on a 90 day adventure and have traveled extensively over the past three years next to the worst dog friendly room we have ever had. We choose Best Western because of quality and pricing. And to boot this was the highest priced room on our trip. Alot of the hotel have gone to solid surfaces floors. We were charged $15.00 for the dog my suggest take the money and apply it to new flooring. It was so bad we gave our dog a bath. Sorry, for the negative review but honesty is the best policy.

Clean room with a great location. Nice fenced in pet relief area in the corner of the parking lot was a nice touch that was well lit at night. Off leash dog park was down the street and walking trails. Plenty of shops and restaurants across the street. Place was quiet at night and staff was friendly. No housekeeping however received a towel exchange no problem. Will definitely stay here again with our dog on our next trip to SLO! Good value and I was comfortable here!

Room was, as stated, clean, comfortable and reasonably priced. The breakfast supplied was fairly standard for hotels in the price range but having to leave the main building to walk to the dining area was a put off. Early morning in February is cold. Did not know in advance about their evening reception in the lobby until after we had gone out for dinner but it appeared quite nice, warm and friendly. All staff we encountered were polite and attentive. One down side was the noise made by the roomers above us and I would request the top floor the next time we stay there.

In general, we like Best Westerns because they are a good value and the Royal Oaks is no exception. The room was clean (they had the door and windows open when we arrived to air out, a nice touch during COVID) and comfortable. The fridge worked pretty well (hotel fridges often keep things lukewarm at best) and overall it was a good stay.

On the downside, it would have been nice to know before booking that there would be no daily housekeeping (although they said if we needed anything, presumably towels and such, they would bring them). I completely understand that there are severe staffing shortages so the fact that there was no daily service was not an issue, it just would have been nice to know that before checking in.

The free breakfast is the standard stuff, meaning that if you stick to cold cereal and yogurt, you'll be fine. The eggs and stuff were, as is typical for free breakfasts, inedible. They had no bagels, toast, or english muffins which would have been nice. I suppose that could be a COVID issue, too, but I don't see why they couldn't have that based on what was available.

There are plenty of places to eat and retail services nearby, which is convenient, but the eateries are all chains (IHOP, Denny's, Chipotle, Panera, etc.) except for the Madonna Inn. The good part is that they're all within walking distance, which is good because the hotel is a little complicated to get to.

Overall, except for the lousy breakfast and the housekeeping surprise, I would stay here again.

The rooms are fine for an older renovated hotel. Our room had the smell of dog. Breakfast had good selections hot and cold the problem is getting to it. In all my years of travel I have never been to a hotel less friendly to the mobility challenged than this one. The hotel is disjointed with doors and ramps or stairs to get you everywhere. Though ramps do make it accessible they are not easily managed by those with mobility issues. Walking up or down ramps and stairs is difficult for some and this hotel is horrible for that. Even the patking lot is on a slope to unload and if you go to where its flat you have multiple halls, doors and an elevator to get to a room. The breakfast room is on one side of the hotel not connected at all to one wing so again halls, doors and ramps or stairs. I do not recommend this hotel for anyone with any sort of physical limitations or if you don't want to do alot of walking to everything.

There wasn't when we stayed, but I'd suggest contacting them directly to confirm that it hasn't changed. Best Western properties typically do not charge amenity or resort fees.

I am pretty sure they have a limited amount of Pet Friendly Rooms. You can tell by the location of room, ad if you are dog lover, you can smell that other dogs have been there. I would just either call the Motel directly to ask about Pet-free rooms, or if you make reservations online, put that in your "Special Requests" space. We always bring our dogs with us, and almost every Hotel/Motel Chain has designated Pet Rooms so folks who want nothing to do with that are satisfied as well.
