What can I say.... Budget motels in Paso Robles are all run by a family cabal with a uniform sense of hospitality having the graciousness and refinement of public toilets. If you’re satisfied with a room that smells of cigarette-masking Fabreze, one lonely hanger for your clothes and a semi-repaired door latch and door frame after a break-in, then this place is for you. It was a busy weekend in Paso and the pickings were slim. Still, we paid the $175 fee for the night. Just checked the usual weekday rate... $70.

Stayed here quite a few times with no issues, but this time everything was horrible. First room we were checked in to had a lock that did not work, not even the deadbolt. Manager assured us that no one would walk in and that the lock would be fixed after the holidays....which clearly didn’t help at that time. Second room we checked in to did not have working lights in the bathroom, they had plugged in a tall lamp for bathroom light. Then the light above in the room did not work, but the bedside table lamps could provide enough light, the manager assured us. Also the remote for the tv did not work and didn’t have a backing on it. Floors were extremely dirty, wore socks the entire stay and didn’t even chance taking a shower....it looked like it hadn’t been cleaned. When we went to check out no one was in the office and two other couples were also trying to check out. No one came for 10 minutes. We left for breakfast and figured we would check out when we got back, so we kept the key. When we returned from breakfast our room door was wide open. The maid was in another room in the next building. Luckily we had already put our valuables in our car. Totally not professional especially since we hadn’t even technically checked out yet....... Will never stay here again!

If you are thinking about staying here- please review my statement below. I'm not sure about some of the reviews that are showing 4 to 5 rating. I have pictures backing up my review. I'm not sure if I can contact health service or not but I'm willing to try. My girlfriend and I came up to Paso for the Harvest Festival. We had another room picked out but it only had one bed. So my girlfriend started to look for something with two beds. She found "The Inn on Spring". Not sure what this place cost normally, but they were asking $187.00 a night with taxes. With this price, I would expect a clean and safe place to rest my head. This place should never ever charge over $75 per night and that's being generous. Once we arrived, we threw our bags in room and headed out for dinner. We came back and started to see the disgusting floors, walls, lamp shades, blood on door trim, shower grunge and such. We immediately when to management to let them know. Three people came over to inspect our complaints. The one guy that checked us in said that it wasn't blood and proceeded to touch it. The lady said it was make-up. The last person said nothing. The first guy took off pretty up set with us and I thought was very rude not to address your customers and dis us. You would think management would have offered to at least attempt to address our complaints by offering to clean it or change our room but unfortunately this didn't happen. After they left, I called Expedia to complain and proceeded to request for our money back so we could find another hotel. Expedia said they contacted the hotel and it was up to their discretion to return our money. We never heard back from the hotel but I did get a follow up e-mail from Expedia saying it was up to hotel. My girlfriend left with several bites on her leg even though we didn't see spiders or bed bugs. Seeing how dirty this room was, it wouldn't surprise me if they did have them. You would expect that a hotel that the décor was updated would show better pride and clean their rooms. Either the maid needs to be fired or the management staff for not staying on top of the maid. The only positive review I have for this place was the bed was comfy. Please review the pictures so you know my review is totally on the up and up. I hope you find this review to be of service and I hope if wakes up MANAGEMENT. I would never ever recommend this hotel to anyone!

I needed a budget room, and Paso Robles is not so much a budget town. So I stopped here. This appears to be an old 1940s and 50s motor court that was once on the main highway through town. It has been significantly renovated and in someways, it has been done well. The floor was noticeably uneven--a structural problem. The shower was recently tiled and it was done to a fine quality. In other ways, it still needs work and additional furnishing improvements. This, of course, takes money and the owners seem to be slowly bringing the motel up to an increased standard. It does have curb appeal. I saw no pool. Know that this place is mostly for folks who want a room for a night. If you have kids, there is not much for them to do here other than stay in the room. That might work depending on the circumstances. There was no breakfast of any kind, and the coffee in the room was utterly inadequate, even by budget motel standards. The linens seemed clean and were adequate for comfort. It is in a quiet area. My room had a heavy, unpleasant smell, and I do not know if this was just my lucky night or if all the rooms are so. This was enough for me to not return. Perhaps this can be addressed. Perhaps look at the room before agreeing to occupy it. Check out the smell. If one in your party is unsteady on their feet, then definitely see if the room has a level, even floor.

Stayed here for a wine tasting trip. We didn't have any complaints. The room was small but I don't think anyone can change that lol. It was clean and quiet... all I care about! It looks like they are renovating so wouldn't mind coming here again especially since it's close to downtown and not as expensive as the other hotels in the area.

Visited Paso for a few days and was happy to find this spot. The rate was reasonable and although the room was small, it was well equipped and most importantly, clean. I read reviews before showing up and I was a little hesitant but as usual, I don't understand people. My husband and I will definitely return whenever we are back in this area.

Because of reviews I read I brought my own towels and pillows, I didn't need the towels or the pillows. This is an old refurbished motel, you can see the new owner has put quite a bit of money into the redo. Having said that, it still needs a few details taken care of. our room was clean but the hardwood floors do make your feet black, the floors are grey. the location is very convenient to the downtown square.

To start, let me say I have low standards. I'm not overly picky about a room, just needs to be clean for my stay and I'm happy. Doesn't bother me if the bed isn't fluffy and cloud like, I could care less about closet space, so what if the towels are thin, and certainly didn't bother me that the fridge was on the ground in the middle of the room - it did look strange but didn't really matter to me. What does bother me is when you clearly haven't cleaned the room for the last 10 visitors that have stayed there! This place is downright nasty!!! I literally wore shoes THE WHOLE TIME! You could clearly tell there was a layer of dirt on the floor, the bedding was disgusting with hair all over it - I brought my own in from the car and slept on it - and the bathroom... THE BATHROOM WAS ATROCIOUS! I kid you not, it looked like it hadnt been cleaned in months. The towels were dirty, I had to clean the toilet myself before I used it, the shower had dirt and clumps of hair in it, the sink had hair everywhere and the mirror was spotty. At this point I was really getting picky and noticing every little thing because the room was just horrifying. Even the knobs on the bathroom vanity were uneven and smudged. There is clearly no pride being shown in this establishment. I should've just paid the little bit more for another place down the street. After we checked out, the man at the counter came out and went to our room. Before we even left, which was really strange to me. My guess, he just quickly remade the beds and grabbed some towels to hang up real quick for the next group to check in. If you hate yourself, stay here.

Response from Customer S, General Manager at The Inn on Spring
Responded May 23, 2018
Hello Jackie: First off, we do want you to know that we were very saddened to hear that you had such a negative experience at the Inn on Spring. I personally met with the housekeeping staff and on site manager to go over every complaint you made. Our rooms are cleaned by our housekeeping staff and inspected by our on site Manager every day. Please note, each room is cleaned after every visit and we would never allow guests to stay in a room that has not been cleaned. Also, upon check in, every guest is notified that ice is available at the front desk anytime of day or night that you’d like. We apologize if that wasn’t told to you. Again, we are sorry you didnt enjoy your stay but if you’d like to give us another chance, I’d be happy to speak to you directly to make sure your next stay is enjoyable. Feel free to contact me at Innonspring@gmail.com

Not sure about everyone else but I did not have any problems here. Room was clean and well kept. I travel a lot in Europe too and brother I have seen it all! The water pressure in the bathroom was very strong and I like that. I slept with the window open and I was not disturbed at all. You can walk to pretty much everything. I had a king size bed and rented on a Friday night and it was $145 and the higher end places want $250 to $300 so I was fine. It did smell of cleaning so I left the windows and door open for an hour and it was fine. Wi-Fi worked fine and the little desk for my laptop fit the bill. There is a coffee maker, microwave and a little fridge. Would I go on a honeymoon here? No, but I just needed a clean, safe place to stay and it ticked all the boxes. Check-in was quick and simple and on my way I went. The is a good dinner that is a five minute walk down the road and everything else you could need down the street. Went around the corner and watched the little league baseball batting practice and it brought back some memories hearing the "Ting" of aluminum bats on the ball. Maybe I am just too simple in my needs or pleasures or maybe I am more reasonable then others but I just call them as I see them and I would stay here again...

The bathroom was dirty and the housekeeping very poor. The grounds are ugly. I wish I'd stayed at Farmhouse Motel down the street. I also wish I'd read the reviews before hand. Paso Robles Wine Country is one of those beautiful places I've ever been. There are also so many superb restaurants.
