We arrived on a cold February day in which there wasn't much to show us; however, we were greeted warmly by Bill and his wife , and their friendly farm dog. We actually called ahead to see if we could stop by, and were advised that it probably wouldn't be a good day. We got a call back immediately and were told that even though there wasn't much to see, we could be taken to see the lambs that were just born. It was a treat for these 2 city girls to learn about the sheep and a little about the area.

My family and I stayed one night in Paso Robles at the WindRose Farm. Let me say it was spectacular. It’s the closest you can get to Nature. We went climbing on one of the hills and it was so peaceful with a great view. The trailer that we stayed in is equipped with a regular home water heater so you can get hot water. The owners were wonderful. Bill was very kind. He made us fresh bread, and he got us fresh produce right out of the farm. During the night my family and I went out and looked up at the beautiful stars. You would not believe how many stars were there. Also when we went for a walk and we were able to pick apples from the FIVE HUNDRED different types of trees. Everything we ate was organic and made right there. It was amazing. Another thing that was great was all the animals. Bill and Barbara have dogs, cats, and adorable kittens. Also we got to feed the goats, which were fun, and the kids really enjoyed it. It was a great place, and we would want to spend more time next time.

I have to say that I totally disagree with the previous post. I just came back from spending a glorious afternoon at Windrose Farm and I found both the farm and the owners charming and welcoming. We started with a tour of the Farm with Bill Spencer, who expounded upon the benefits and economics of sustainable farming with passion and great wit. That was followed by an amazing luncheon served by Barbara and friends under the beautiful spreading oak tree near the farm house. Our luncheon was accompanied by the sound of birds, sheep in the pasture, amazing views of the green hills surrounding the property, hawks flying overhead, and the couple's pets under our feet. Unfortunately we did not stay the night. We were there for a luncheon hosted by the Spencers for the benefit of the local symphony, one of many non-profits who benefit from their generous hospitality. But we will certainly be back and we heartily recommend Windrose Farm for an educational, restful and lovely stay when you're in the Paso Robles area.

The owners were rude and really made us feel unwelcome. We didn't stay the night, but the owners were sure to make us feel like my wife and I were an inconvenience.
