The design team for the reno on this old-time courtyard motel really knew how to ride a theme -- and ride it hard. Horse and cowboy imagery covers everything, and it's adorable. But so many basic comforts are neglected. Who needs a suede fringed throw pillow when the bathroom countertop is too narrow to accommodate a basic make-up bag, so that your toiletries keep rolling onto the floor? I wish I had taken a photo of my regular- sized husband when he squeezed himself into the room's tiny vintage-style camp chair, with its seat and back upholstered in -- you guessed it -- suede. Of course, I had to stand while looking at him seated there because the room had only one chair, despite being billed as king-sized. The porch lights were strong, which was a welcome touch for safety, but the window covering didn't begin to block the light at night. Would be a problem for any sleeper who is light sensitive and traveling without a sleep mask. The bathroom fan sounded like a 747 taking off, and we had to keep it on all the time because the place absolutely reeked of bleach (and what was with that?). We were able to walk to the town's center of activity -- around its main park -- but would've been more fun to stay closer. So pluses and minuses.

Really cool spot, great decor and felt more like your own cabin than a hotel. Very central location, walkable to Central Park and restaurants. 10-15 min drive into the hills for stunning wine tasting experiences.

We actually went in April, but I couldn't go back that for and I forgot to review on this site. This is a cute stable themed motel. Being an older motel concerned me at first, because usually they tend to be a bit rundown and often not the cleanliest. NOT Stables Inn! Nicely updated, great seating with fire pit and complimentary wine, tea, or hot chocolate. In the morning, there's a cute sunroom made like a stable, where you can get coffee, tea, coffee cake, and yogurt. Limited continental, but delicious and was plenty for us. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. It's so close (walking distance) to a beautiful park where this weekend there was a car and motorcycle show and vendor tents. Also the park is surrounded by shops and places to eat. Tasty is a little restaurant within walking distance across from the park and they were really good. The rooms are a bit small with only one chair and a tiny bathroom, but we weren't going to hangout in there and there's plenty to see within walking distance or you can sit and enjoy the gas fire pits they have provided. All the people we encountered there were so nice and it was quiet. The bed was comfy too. We will definitely return here again! Couldn't recommend it more.

I can't say enough nice things about this place. It is a remodeled motel and they did a fantastic job! We stayed in the Stag room, it had a king sized bed and bunk beds with plenty of room for the four of us. The western decor is so cute and very clean. There are nightly bond fires at the Island. In the morning there is fresh coffee and the most delicious coffee cake available. The staff is also very helpful. I highly recommend this place, and wish we had stayed longer! We will definitely be coming back!

The property is clean, the room was quaint, and the staff were super friendly and welcoming. I really liked the proximity to downtown. It was also very affordable. I wanted to love this place, but I got the least restful sleep here that I have gotten anywhere in my life. I don’t know if it was the bed (seemed comfortable enough) or the fact that the head of the bed was directly in line with the door. So I am not sure I would be willing to stay again.

Reasonably priced, great location as it's a few blocks from Paso Robles downtown. Pictures are accurate. In the morning they have a continental breakfast/ coffee set up. Rooms have a fridge, wood floors, and look renovated. If you want or need to be near downtown, it's ideal.

This is a great motel with comfy room and easy access to anything in the region. Staff was uber helpful with all of our queries. It is very well executed as a throwback to the cowboy culture, with an upscale vibe. Highly recommend if you are visiting PR wine country.

What a nice surprise! Too often we find that revamped motels mostly revamp their rates and little else, but Stables Inn did a great job of not merely updating but transforming an old dump into something fine. The room was immaculate, everything worked and "The Island" was a great way to create pleasant common space. Service was excellent - did not have to beg for a room clean as has been the case so much this year. And of course, great location for downtown access. Highly recommend.

We thought we’d tried everything in Paso and always left feeling a bit “meh”, until we stayed at Stables. This is the perfect mix of easy, down to earth accom, in a great location, with some lovely thoughtful touches. Check in was fast and prepared, friendly. Parking easy. The room was crisp, clean and tasteful. The small common areas did their best to add vibes. California needs more of this! The only suggestion I’d have is for a mirror in the main room, helps when getting ready and the shower mirror is steamed up! And a way to connect phone to TV. But this is a rare 5/5 and I’m happy to know Stables is there for me next time!

Stayed here one night on our way to Big Sur. The place was charming. Clean and brand new. The bedding was soft and comfortable. Convenient location close to main square. It was perfect for our one night stay in Paso Robles.
