What a nice surprise! Too often we find that revamped motels mostly revamp their rates and little else, but Stables Inn did a great job of not merely updating but transforming an old dump into something fine. The room was immaculate, everything worked and "The Island" was a great way to create pleasant common space. Service was excellent - did not have to beg for a room clean as has been the case so much this year. And of course, great location for downtown access. Highly recommend.

We thought we’d tried everything in Paso and always left feeling a bit “meh”, until we stayed at Stables. This is the perfect mix of easy, down to earth accom, in a great location, with some lovely thoughtful touches. Check in was fast and prepared, friendly. Parking easy. The room was crisp, clean and tasteful. The small common areas did their best to add vibes. California needs more of this! The only suggestion I’d have is for a mirror in the main room, helps when getting ready and the shower mirror is steamed up! And a way to connect phone to TV. But this is a rare 5/5 and I’m happy to know Stables is there for me next time!

Stayed here one night on our way to Big Sur. The place was charming. Clean and brand new. The bedding was soft and comfortable. Convenient location close to main square. It was perfect for our one night stay in Paso Robles.

We were pleasantly surprised at this adorable Inn. This year for the fair we decided on this Inn. It is now our favorite place to stay in Paso Robles. Clean, great service and awesome setting. We are looking forward to returning soon.

This is a convenient, clean, nice motel, but it has some pros and cons that probably factor differently for various folks. I’ll try to outline what caught my attention in hopes it will prove helpful for anyone trying to make a decision about staying here. My wife and I were visiting Paso Robles with another couple, and universally we all agreed that the best part of this motel were the 3 fire pits, which served as a very comfortable gathering place at the end of the day or after dinner. They’ve done a great job utilizing very limited space, and despite being in the middle of the parking lot of the motel, it’s surprisingly atmospheric (I know, sounds ridiculous, and perhaps it was the wine) and festive. For the comfort of those guests not inclined to hang out by the fires, the lights and fires were shut down at 11pm (ish), so loud late night revelry wasn’t an issue in the evenings. We were in room 8; if possible I would recommend against staying in rooms 5-12 if others are available. These rooms are the long section of the motel and share (thin) walls with multiple neighbors on either side. They also face directly onto the motel parking lot, so guests leaving early in the morning will likely wake you if you’re a light sleeper. Rooms 5-12 also back up to a residential street, which while we were there (Monday - Friday), had frequent early morning noises, including a day of chainsaw trimming and another where some guy seemed to be chasing a single leaf around the neighborhood with a gas powered leaf blower. This is where the thin walls come into play if you like to sleep in later than 8 or 9 a.m. As to the room, it was fine and generally met expectations, but they’re small and compact. The blinds didn’t work and had to be replaced when we got there, which is an issue because the room faces the parking lot and the early morning sun, so working blinds are essential. The staff were polite and efficient in addressing this problem - blinds replaced before we returned from our day of exploring. The air conditioner is an old school unit, so it’s loud, but for us it was effective white noise and didn’t create a big problem. Hey, if the AC makes cold air, that’s all I really care about. Our friends, who are not high maintenance in the least, had to move rooms because the bed in their room was basically unusable… it was so bowed in the middle it was like trying to sleep in a padded soup bowl. That said, the staff were helpful and moved them to another room the next day. Problem solvers at the Stables Inn, which I like! The morning coffee and tea were conveniently available in the “lobby” area, but he pastries provided on were, well, 7-Eleven at best. I’m not persnickety about free pastries at a motel, but even by that standard they fell short. The location is great. A short walk to the heart of Paso Robles along a nice street with plenty of sidewalk space. Parking wasn’t an issue either - the motel was sold out for at least 2 of the 4 nights we were there and I don’t recall seeing any issues with lack of parking spots. Travel & Leisure rated this one of the best new hotels in 2021, which is a mystery to me - I can only guess it has more to do with the design and/or theme of the place than anything amazing about the rooms. At the end of the day it’s a nice, clean motel with great staff, a cool place to hang out in the parking lot, and a fun, quirky vibe, but it lacks the luxury elements I’d expect in a “best new hotel”. Overall, we enjoyed our stay at the Stables and absolutely loved drinking wine visiting with our friends around the fire pits every night. The staff were very nice and responsive - which is a BIG deal for me personally. Mistakes and problems happen, but for me it’s about how a business responds to issues that really matters.

This is a cute stable themed motel. Being an older motel concerned me at first, because usually they tend to be a bit rundown and often not the cleanliest. NOT Stables Inn! Nicely updated, great outside seating with fire pit and complimentary wine, tea, or hot chocolate. In the morning, there's a cute sunroom made like a stable, where you can get coffee, tea, coffee cake, and yogurt. Limited continental, but delicious and was plenty for us. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. It's so close (walking distance) to a beautiful park where this weekend there was a car and motorcycle show and vendor tents. Also the park is surrounded by shops and places to eat. Tasty is a little restaurant within walking distance across from the park and they were really good. The rooms are a bit small with only one chair and a tiny bathroom, but we weren't going to hangout in there and there's plenty to see within walking distance or you can sit and enjoy the gas fire pits they have provided. All the people we encountered there were so nice and it was quiet. The king size bed was comfy too. We will definitely return here again! Couldn't recommend it more.

Stayed just one night in Paso Robles with our dog and this was our spot. Staff was very friendly and the place has been all redesigned very thoughtfully. The room we had was on the small size small but, it was clean, and well styled. Nice outdoor hang out spot for ourselves plus the multiple fire pits and common seating areas. They did a nice job at refinishing this place and making it a cute nice place to stay. It's an easy simple walk to the heart of downtown. This is an expensive town to stay in, this was a great balance of cost vs accessibility (and dog friendly) with a solid touch of class.

The Stables Inn in Paso Robles is the sister property to Hotel Cheval also in Paso Robles. The Inn was just named by Travel and Leisure as one of the best new hotels. This place is great. Western themed, it is unique, comfy and cozy. We had a King room and it was very comfortable. We had parking right in front of our unit which is very convenient. From the moment we stepped into the lobby, it had a warm vibe. The staff was friendly and welcoming. Our room had a cow print rug and leather chair. The bed was the antique style metal frame. The room had a small fridge, wine glasses and metal cowboy coffee mugs. The bathroom was just fine, the towels great and nice hot water for the shower. In the mornings head back over to the Stable for coffee, tea and pastries. In the middle of the property are white Adirondack chairs surrounding two fire pits. Take your favorite bottle of wine out there to enjoy around the fire in the evenings after a fun day of wine tasting. I highly recommend this spot in Paso Robles.

Very cute, clean, perfect walking distance to downtown. Overall, it was almost exactly what I expected. Check-in was a breeze and the staff were all very kind and helpful. I also loved that it was dog friendly. Everything was very clean inside and well manicured outside. For the price compared to other Paso dog friendly hotels, I am happy. However, my husband and I didn’t sleep at all the two nights we were here. The blinds don’t do much to really block the light from the parking lot at night, and the worst part was the heater! It’s an old wall unit and HOLY COW was that thing loud. Every time it came on, we were woken up, and it turned on very often considering it got down to 28 degrees at night outside. If we had been able to sleep, this place would’ve hands down been 5 stars. But both mornings we were completely exhausted from being awake all night.

Super cute, maximized cuteness and decor. Every inch is planned and clean and pretty. Even the orange coffee pot, matches the napkins. Downsides, the neighborhood is not great, but it is a short walk to downtown. The EV charger wasn’t working, we had to take our Tesla elsewhere to charge. Also, the blinds did not cover the windows, and at night I can see out and the outdoor lamp shown into the room all night. Get blackout curtains! Or at least blinds that cover the windows properly. Very cute, simple motel.
