The Palo Alto Inn lives up to its positive reviews. Our room was surprisingly modern, clean and well-ordered, and we much enjoyed the little courtyard outside where we ate many of our meals during this time of COVID when we're avoiding restaurants. The staff was friendly and helpful and seemed to be taking appropriate coronavirus precautions. The refrigerator was smallish and lacked a freezer, but power outlets and charging stations were well-placed throughout the room, which, though a bit snug, was very comfortable. All in all it was an excellent value for the price.

This place is a classical motel but the rooms have been updated very recently and they pay attention to the details. Spatious, clean, and comfortable beds. Location is convenient on El Camino, so even without a car it was possible to get around without too much trouble. Nitpicking, but I wished the curtains would overlap more such that you can actually shut out the light from outside, and the windows are not very soundproof. Overall I highly recommend staying here, especially at the affordable rate I got by booking quite far (1-2 months) in advance.

The room with the king bed is on the small side but very clean with good internet, nice TV with plenty of channels, and many small amenities like water and sodas in the room, a safe, a microwave, coffee maker, and a fridge. Also liked the old fashioned notepad and pen. Bath items included a shaver, shaving cream, toothbrush, toothpaste, shoe shiner and makeup remover along with the usual soap and shampoo. Free snacks in the lobby along with more water and soda and helpful staff. The fan in the room is quiet and I appreciated the electric light in the closet space. The area is safe and nice, in a location on the El Camino where there are several other hotels/motels. The pricey Dinah Garden Hotel across the street has an affordable poolside restaurant in easy walking distance that serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Not terribly quiet but not unpleasantly loud, either. Nice bed. Nice patio out front with a fountain. Would definitely stay again.

Needed a place to stay when my husband was unexpectedly admitted to Palo Alto VA Hospital. This hotel/motel had a vacancy and we took advantage. It met all our basic needs. The staff was very welcoming in a time of need, providing lots of information about the surrounding area. Hospitality staff was friendly and efficient. The room and bedding were clean and fresh. All bedding items were replaced including sheets, blankets and bedspreads. Overall we witnessed total compliance with pandemic guidelines. The location was central to services and restaurants. The nicely maintained common areas were not used due to pandemic but looked comfortable and inviting. No breakfast, but we didn't expect one in this price range. We recommend this small inexpensive inn and we'll stay here again when we're in town.

Great!! Palo Alto weekday rates can get up in the hundreds per night. Palo Alto Inn is excellent and the price is too. Unbelievable to us! Newly renovated rooms, baths and great bedding. We stayed here while receiving medical treatment at Stanford Hospital. The owner and cleaning staff were very helpful and accommodating to our needs. The rooms have been completely remodeled. Even though the hotel is right off a major road, the rooms are quiet at night and we didn't hear any noise from neighboring rooms. There is a lovely patio with outdoor furniture and water features where we spent a lot of time. The landscaping is beautiful. There are restaurants, Walgreen's and shopping center within walking distance. We enjoyed our stay and have already booked to return.

I chose The Palo Alto Inn because of it's proximity to Lucille Packard Children's Hospital @ Stanford and because they offer a discount to those visiting the hospital. The price point for the location was fair. And it really is a great location. Close to quite a few nice restaurants and some shopping. Only about a half hour drive to Half Moon Bay. The following are all based on my personal opinions and expectations in regards to marketing as a "Boutique" hotel and the Hotel Ratings are based on the room we were in; The bed was not comfortable, at all (the recliner I slept in, in the hospital room provided more comfort), so I would bring a mattress topper next time. There was a cigarette burn hole on the comforter even though they are all non-smoking rooms. The two chairs in the room were pretty heavily stained and it would have been appreciated to have a small table to eat at, in the room. We do not eat out every night and there's a Sprouts Market and Whole Foods very close by. Very nice community area out front. I just got the feeling they put us in a room that had not been fully updated as of yet. They had not finished painting or maybe didn't plan to...I'm unsure. The hinges on the bathroom door look like they came out of a sunken ship (layers and layers of rust), quite a few of the tiles on the bathroom floor were loose and/or cracked. The heating/AC unit while it worked, the vent was broken and a button was missing. If you can, request a room on the second floor...You can hear every single foot step above you. It's quite frustrating. The room was incredibly spacious, which was amazing since there were four of us and a dog in the room. And on that note, we were misinformed by a gentleman over the phone (Not Bhagi) that the hotel accepts pets, while in fact they do not. (Not oblivious to the fact that this could have been a factor in placing us in a subpar room) But seeing as how we had driven 6.5 hours from So. Oregon, Bhagi was gracious and let us stay anyway. I don't know what we would have done had he not. For his graciousness and understanding, I would most definitely stay at the Inn again while we are in Palo Alto for future hospital visits. Unless we have to bring the dog...

The place was fantastic! The rooms were cleaned daily, the staff were very friendly and professional, made sure you were looked after and had everything you needed. The bed was very comfortable and the room included a TV, snacks, microwave and fridge. It wasn't too crowded and had a nice seating area outside which was very relaxing.
The hotel was also in a convenient location close to many good restaurants and shops and not too far to many of the silicon valley headquaters. Would definitely recommend!

A last minute (midnight) need arose for one night's accommodation in Palo Alto. I stumbled upon this place - rang the office bell and was welcomed by a clerk who could not have been nicer or kinder. After checking in I was invited to choose a complimentary soft beverage. The rate was great & the room FAR exceeded my expectations for this (seemingly) once 1950's style motel. Now updated with taste and quality materials. Mini-split a/c, in room microwave & refrigerator (tastefully stored behind a cabinet door) flat panel TV, reading lamps at bedside and a wireless charging pad. The bathroom was updated, too - with marble shower walls. The bath tissue and facial tissue "ends" were fashioned into beautiful "flowers" and the toiletries included a disposable razor and two choices of shaving cream. The floors, which I would have expected to find covered in (dusty) carpet were done tastefully in laminate flooring. I could not have been happier. Highly recommended!

Literally never had better hotel service.
The staff at the Palo Alto inn did everything to help and make this stay great.
There was a minor issue with WiFi? They installed new routers in all rooms.
We stayed over a week and had free laundry service, free mini bar, and simply friendly interactions with everyone from the owner to the service staff
They serviced the room every day, which I didn’t even experience in the Hilton I had stayed in the week before.
They always restocked. They aren’t cutting the small costs but are looking at the big picture.
If you could tip a hotel, I would.
