Our room needed an update. Bathrooms outdate. Furniture in suite seemed soiled and the adjacent patio not weeded. Kitchenette was minimally stocked with outdated accessories. No baking sheet. Pool area was really great and we also enjoyed sauna, whirlpool and cold plunge. We expected a bit more for the price.

On a positive note: the grounds were very pretty, and the rooms were what we expected. We enjoyed sitting outside with a cocktail and nice view. However, service is nonexistent, which I guess could be fine if things go right. Unfortunately, things didn't go right for us, and it was a real problem that no one was on site at the hotel...ever. Not when we tried to check in around 9:30PM after a delayed flight and had nearly-dead phones so we couldn't retrieve our booking number...not when the power went out at the hotel for 12 hours and we needed information...not when the keypad on our room malfunctioned and we were locked out for the better part of a day. We were among three patrons (that we are aware of) whose keypads malfunctioned and couldn't get into our rooms. While a lot of things about this place are lovely, service was quite literally nonexistent. There were folks who would text or call back eventually, but they had no power to veer off-script when things went awry.

This place is actually a really cool place perfect for one person, couples or small family. The only issue that we had was the plumbing at some point we were not able to turn on the hot water because it was shaking so hard. The grounds are well kept and the pool was heated which we needed this time of year. Staff was super helpful when we ran into an issue and quickly fixed it. I would come back for sure!!

And LOVE the vibe of The Monkey Tree! Mid Century Modern to perfection! The room was spacious, awesome outdoor pool and lounge area! I enjoyed the jacuzzi and plunge pool in the mornings! There’s outdoor seating and a lounge….I love the fact that it was a contactless check in. There was a private code to enter the facility and private code to enter my room. I did t have to worry about getting locked out! Ample towels and separate pool towels exemplify Avantstays understanding of a traveler’s needs.

Where do I start with this place....I had my reservations of booking a let's just call it "Air BNB Motel" due to the lack of a human presence running this place and now I know why. Let's see when you first walk into the grounds your like, okay not bad, but then you also feel like your on a movie set where your in a deserted motel that everything can go wrong. So let's start with the first scenario.. you get in town ahead of your check in, you think Hey I'll swim at the pool for a bit until my room is ready WRONG. Nope you cannot because there isn't even a bathroom outside by the pool to change your clothes and the worst part your looking at your motel room that is fully clean but you won't get the code until right on the dot of your check in time then you can go in. Which is 4:00pm which is crazy late in the day. So beware if you arrive early, you'll be sitting in your clothes out by the pool roasting in the heat. Zero vibe at this pool so if you like silence, your getting it. Let's see, yep your in the flight path, so be prepared to hear planes from 7:00am until around 5:00pm and it is LOUD. Now let's move on to the room. I would say if you are charging $195 for this place, that's all it's worth, anymore, nope. The decor was sparse to say the least with a strange round patio table and two very cheap uncomfortable chairs to sit on, the rest of it is Wayfair decor. And don't' you even think of looking out those windows behind your bed, it's a junk pile of god knows with filthy windows. Walls are paper thin, bring your ear plugs and loved the very classy alarm clock on the table, maybe it was left by a guest but that didn't class up the place. But let's move on to the bathroom now I've stayed in LOTS of vintage hotels, motels, houses, but this plumbing watch out, you turn it on and I swear to god I thought those pipes would explode, ancient handles for the water to turn off and on and honestly we could barely get it to shut off. Shower is spraying everywhere and how about that nice rusty shelf that looked like it has seen better days and probably cost $20. Dirty walls and my fav, laying in bed reading at night and I hear what was probably rats running above on the roof. No lie I couldn't wait to wake up and get out of here. I remember when this place was for sale during COVID, it is obviously they did a fast-track to get this property going and you can tell it still needs a lot of love. But if I'm going to pay over $250 for a night, it better look like it and sorry but you need a full time staff there because I can see this place getting way out of hand if you had a bunch of partying guests raging with nobody to get it under control. Monkey Tree you are not ready for prime time at this place.

The room was cute and clean except for the bathtub showing wear and tear. There was also hair on the bathroom walls (ewe). The location wasn't ideal, kind of farther away from the action then I thought. Mostly though, I'm not a fan of the whole corporate/contactless/humanless approach. I thought it was a hotel. They send you messages with the names of the hosts, it's like, no one is hosting me. They gave you an option to check in earlier for a fee for each hour- so tacky! The bed was comfy and the bikes were a plus, but all in all I was disappointed.

As a young couple, we thought the place was great and within our budget for a three day/two night trip. We visited in February (seemingly during the off-season) and enjoyed the heated pool and hot tub. The hotel is also located within 15 mins of Target, trails, boutique shops, and great restaurants. The only complaint I have is that the room was not clean. The sink and shower were covered in dust and hairs that really made me doubt if the rest of the room was clean. Even the tissue box had a layer of dust on top of it. Maybe it was a suite that wasn't booked in a while, but a quick tidy-up would have really helped. Overall, I would recommend this hotel, I would come back here again.
