Very clean, relaxing and cute location! The bed was comfy and peaceful! Easy to enter and highly recommend if you want to spend time chilling, reading and tanning by the pool side! My sister and I loved our time here!

The Monkey Tree is great! They have all the amenities you need. They are very flexible and easy going. Lots of attention to detail in the decor inside and out. I recommend for a mellow, relaxing weekend with a cool Palm Springs vibe.

We stayed at the property late December 2021. The property is advertised as hotel, but it is in reality a vacation rental. This means that vacation rental fees as well as cleaning fees apply on top of the advertised rate while at the same time there are no services one would expect from a hotel. Rates are non-refundable, typical for vacation rentals but for hotels. Many of the advertised amenities (as of 1/8/22) are not available. For example, there is no washer or dryer. Some rooms (eg #2) have a kitchenette, but many others are simple hotel rooms. This isn't immediately visible on the amenity pages; for example, room #9 lists cooking essentials, bakeware, dinnerware, silverware etc as amenities (making one think that there is a kitchenette), but there is none. There is only a fridge, coffee maker, and a couple of glasses. If you arrive at night, there will be no attendant. Mechanic keys don't always work and turn the opposite direction as one would expect, so make sure you get the electronic key code before you arrive. We didn't get the electronic key code for room #2 and the mechanical key didn't work; fortunately there was an attendant available when that happened who was able to provide the code. The property has a speaker system in the pol area. On December 31, it was playing a playlist including advertising all afternoon, and it was so loud that we could hear it in our room even with windows closed. This being Palm Springs, prepare yourself for an afternoon listening to advertising for cosmetic surgery. Rooms don't look like recently renovated except for a new layer of paint; they look a bit aged and may have minor issues (for example one of the clothes hangers was loose in the bathroom of #9, and getting the sink plug to open took some effort). The number of electric outlets is limited. While there is no cleaning service unless explicitly paid for, staff may enter the room while you are away; for example they relocated a wireless access point in the room while we were gone. On the plus side, the hotel/vacation rental is in a nice area, rooms were clean, the pool area is nice (if the speaker system is not on), and the hot tub was great.

On the BAD side: 1. Inadequate number of electrical outlets in the room. This is 2021; not 1961. We have electric devices to charge,. 2. The bathroom was a joke. The shower head was mid-belly high. Water went everywhere from the shower. It was tiny. 3. Airport noise. 4. The bed was like a rock. 5. Inadequate number of parking spaces. 6. No maid service daily. 7. Heater/AC loud as hell 8. Furniture was an ugly hodgepodge. 1980s rattan is not mid-century. 9. The television situation is a train wreck. It is positioned badly in the room, making it impossible to watch from the bed. The hotel provides a Roku and you have to log into your own subscription service. If you raise hell, they give you their Hulu login. This is totally unacceptable. On the good side: 1. The room and property were clean. 2. While the staff was not there for much of the time, they were nice and helpful when they were present. 3. The other guests were well-behaved and not loud.
