The Talavera was built in 1920 and was originally known as The Wigwam, hosting an array of glamorous Hollywood stars throughout the years. One of the oldest hotels in the Palm Springs area. All suites enjoy beautiful private patios and jacuzzis. We are located in the historic Tennis Club District in the heart of Downtown Palm Springs. In 2018, the hotel was awarded the prestigious honor of being named One of The Hot Hotels for 2018 by Conde Nast Traveler Magazine. The property is truly an exotic oasis. Enjoy our beautiful pool with the San Jacinto Mountains as a backdrop. Surprisingly, the property is located just steps from exciting Downtown Palm Springs with an abundance of restaurants, shops and entertainment.

Very cool place to stay. A quiet atmosphere with lush greenery all around. Our room (Kasbah) was accommodating, clean with a spacious bathroom. Hotel staff was very professional and helpful. Very well located .

Beautiful resort in a great location, close to dining and shops. Check in was super easy. Friendly staff and excellent amenities. The pool and on suite jacuzzi were highlights. Highly recommend, I’d totally return again.

What a great place. Fantastic location - right in the middle of Palm Springs and blocks from almost everything. The hotel is Intimate and quiet. Not a place if you are looking for a noisy pool and a party vibe. A phenomenal manager - Joanie. We arrived early and she assured us the room would be ready before the guaranteed 4pm. We were in by 2pm. We stayed in the Sedona. Lots of room and we wished we could have stayed longer. Tried to extend the stay weeks before we arrived but they were completely booked - which should tell you something!

It’s the second time we stayed at the Talavera but we will not stay there the next time. The lady at reception was very nice and helpful. Talavera is located in quiet area. Location of Talavera can’t be beat. We again stayed at the Ranch but the room is in urgent need of a little TLC. The furniture includes two of the poorest dressers. Also the bathroom is in need of an update as is the toilet (almost brokendown flush, toiletseat woredown….). Also the taps on the sinks are in need of replacing. There is a tv but one can only watch Netflix - no news or locals channels available I think there are better accomodation options in PS

Very comfortable and private accommodation. We enjoyed the fire pit and hot tub inside the private courtyard. The grounds and the pool were very nice. We would recommend Talavera to anyone staying in Palm Springs.

We’ve been coming to this boutique hotel in its previous incarnations for several years, and even for the latest chilly (sub-60) visit, we always have a relaxing time. The touchless check in process is great, and there’s the right amount of service. There are more dining options in walking distance now as well.

We really enjoyed our time at Talavera. We loved the privacy and the convenient location. Very peaceful - we had everything we needed. Hopefully we will be back again soon. I recommend the Thursday market and free night at the Palm Springs Museum.

Talavera Hotel was one of the top best experiences we’ve had in Palm Springs! The moment you walk in, you feel such tranquility, sense of calming, hidden desert aura; private hot tub, huge suite space & comfortable beds— definitely recommending to all my friends coming from out of town.

I have been wanting to stay at Talavera for years. I booked a trip for January-February 2022 and had to cancel at the last minute, losing the cost of one night’s stay. When a friend from the east coast told me she was going to be in Palm Springs Saturday night, I was thrilled for the opportunity to to spend the night at Talavera. Only there was one problem: no rooms available. I booked another place that seemed comparable (IT WAS NOT) which had a 2 night minimum. The moment I pulled up to the other place, I knew I had a made a mistake. This was a party hotel. I checked out Sunday morning even though I had paid through Monday. I recalled seeing Talavera had a room open Sunday night but the amount of money I was already losing made heading home early seem like the best course of action. I figured I’d pop by Talavera first though so I wouldn’t risk making the same mistake in the future. So I showed up in the parking lot of Talavera exhausted around 8:30 am Sunday morning. You can’t get into the property or see anything unless you are guest so I was about to head home when a woman pulled up in her car. It turns out she was the manager and after I told her about my night, she opened the gate and invited me to look around. Oh my god; the photos do not do this place justice. It is gorgeous, lush, serene. I went up to the front desk and told her, “I need this. Im just going to do it: pay for two hotels for the night and stay here.” Now get ready for this: I gave her my name, address and phone number and she saw my cancellation from the year before in the system (where I had lost the cost of one night) and told me there would be no charge for my stay that night. I nearly cried. These sorts of thing do not happen in my experience. She could tell I was wiped out. It was still really early. She told me the other guests were checking out at 11 and she would prioritize cleaning my room. In the meantime she told me to go get breakfast and invited me back afterwards to relax on the property until my room was ready. I stayed in the Velvet Suite, right off the main pool. It’s one of the smaller suites but still larger than your average hotel room. It was beautiful and peaceful and perfect. I had my little dog with me. We loved everything about our stay and cannot wait to go back.

Really not sure how Talavera has received consistently high reviews. I chose Talavera because I had to book last minute, and it was the only small hotel in the neighborhood that still had rooms. The good: The lady in the front office, Joanie, was very nice and helpful when I dealt with her on the phone and once in person while I was there. The small garden outside my room was a lovely, quiet area. Location of Talavera can’t be beat. The bad: I arrived after 6 PM and it was dark. Make sure you have a flashlight to light up the keypad at the main entrance and to your door, otherwise you will not be able to see the keypad. Talavera is rough around the edges. The furniture in the Ranch room includes two of the junkiest dressers I have ever seen in a hotel. The other pieces just look tired. And just to be clear, this is not “shabby chic” and I am missing the point. The mattress in this room has been complained about in other reviews and it has clearly not bee replaced. It is soft and compressed on both sides with a huge hump in the middle. The pedestal sinks and the fixtures were the absolute cheapest quality around. If you want to watch some news while you are there, too bad. There are no local, cable or news channels. Netflix only, and if you want to watch Hulu or Prime or Apple TV, you can do that - as long as you log into your own personal account. The front office hours are strict, 0930 to 6PM. Outside of these hours you can’t get any service unless it is an emergency. You can purchase beverages or a bottle of wine, but only between those hours. They sent a very comprehensive check in text that had all the information I needed to let myself into the property, so that was fine. Check in is at 4pm and I received the text at 4:02. Don’t plan on arriving early, unless you have paid an early check in fee of $45 for one hour or $65 for 2 hours . Check out time is 11:00 AM. Wonder if I could get $65 back since I left at 0900? The pool area is pretty, however the bottom of the pool and the steps on the ladder were dirty. I really wanted to like it here, but there are better options nearby.
