This property is being taken much better care of under new ownership this part year. While its dated in some ways, the rooms are large, clean and taken care of, I was pleasantly surprised after reading some of the review found in Trip Advisor.

New ownership has cleaned up and modernized the lobby, still areas that are dated but its obvious they are working on things. In the past I avoided this hotel because of the reputation, I took a chance and stayed for 3 nights. I am so glad I did, the location in the heart of downtown makes its one of the best places to stay that allows you to walk out your front door to the shops and restaurants that line the streets. Street fairs and festivals were being held within a block or two. I am so glad I decided to stay and will return without hesitation, give this property a shot, you will not be disappointed.

The pool area is fine, but very dated, too much concrete, needs softened up. Rooms are large and each has a balcony. Lobby has been updated, staff is great, you can tell they are working hard to improve the image and make guests feel welcome. The "resort fee" included valet in and out privileges with a full staff of attendants. Internet worked great too, that was included in the fee, they had bingo going in the lobby one night and had happy hour down there in the lobby.

Do not hesitate to stay here if downtown is your destination to base out of while enjoying Palm Springs.

This hotel is well located right across from Palm Springs main downtown area. It's really a self-contained unit, with a lobby that includes a restaurant, bar, pool table, giant jenga game, etc. It's got a sort of Euro trash feel - it looks fancy on the surface but things are actually a bit worn and cheap. I loved that my room had a patio with two chairs. The room was large. Everything functioned well from wifi to TV to shower. There was also an ironing board and iron, hairdryer. I was really pleasantly surprised when I was told the mandatory valet parking was free but then they sock you with a $50 resort fee when you check out (and that was for just one night) so my pretty good deal from groupon ($120 with taxes) ended up being $170 for one night - too much.

To be honest, I was terrified after reading most of the other reviews here. Staying somewhere else than the group I was with wouldn't have come off so nice, so I just decided to jump in head first.

Long story short, it wasn't as bad as I anticipated.

For me, the staff were friendly, helpful and in one instance, proactive. I didn't notice any weird or off-putting smells anywhere. The rooms and the bathrooms are large and quite wide. The location is ideal, close to the heart of downtown, shopping, restaurants, LGBTQ nightlife and late night eats. I didn't find anything unclean, gross or overly rundown. The beds are comfortable.

A few of us has minor maintenance issues in our rooms. I answered their text message about having any special requests with "I would not like a ground floor room." I got a ground floor room. (I know requests aren't guaranteed, but everyone else was on a higher floor. I didn't bother to fight it; it was fine though). My room didn't have carpet, which was a bit surprising after perusing the website, so not sure if that's a ground floor thing only as the other rooms on higher floors I saw did have carpet. I imagine some would prefer the no carpet option. You aren't able to charge drinks at the lobby bar to your room. Not a big deal, but odd in today's advanced world.

I can't speak to the restaurant or the pool area. I'm not sure if the restaurant was even operating, unless it was just a really, really slow weekend.

The decor and overall feel/vibe of the hotel is kind of hodgepodge, maybe like it has an identity crisis, not sure what it exactly wants to be. The hotel has an old shell, with some effort made to make the inside of the shell a bit more shiny.

But overall, it was better than I expected after reading all the reviews here. Was it worth the higher price??? (About $660 total for two nights in mid-December?) Ehhhh well, the location might save you from Uber fares if you plan to be downtown a great deal. For the purposes of our group for a quick weekend, it was super convenient. Would I stay here again? Maybe, if the price was right or not any higher than what I just paid, I'd consider it.

My husband booked a getaway for 1 day at Hotel Zoso. We wanted to try a new place and it was a pretty nice hotel but the management and staff are ridiculous. We checked in around 3:30 p.m and got a phone call that our son was sick so we checked out no later than 5:50 p.m. ( 2 hours total we stayed) we told the front desk that we were leaving due to a family emergency and checked out - after we paid $880 for an entire night. Next morning (Sunday)when everything was settled I called the hotel and a girl named Chella answered and was very nice and told me that the manager will be in on Wednesday and that the room appeared to have been checked out that morning at 5:30 a.m. So I explained to her that it wasn't us and on Wednesday when I called back to speak to the manager Chella told me she wasn't at her desk and she would explain the situation to the manager. Fast forward an hour some guy calls me (not the manager) and tells me that they will only refund $195. Not only is that a slap in the face but I'm wondering what kind of shady stuff is happening at this hotel and who stayed in the room that my husband paid for. Very unprofessional

My partner and I stayed at Hotel Zoso this weekend (10/9/21 - 10/10/21) for a little one night getaway. We have visited the property in the past when it was the Hard Rock and thought it was pretty decent. We were incredibly disappointed in our stay. Upon arrival the parking valet attendant (Cristian) and front desk clerk (Layne) were both very welcoming and friendly. We got there a little early and was told that our room was cleaned but had to be inspected. This was not a problem at all as this gave us time to get a drink in the lobby and a chance to unwind from the two hour drive we just had. The bartender was incredibly unfriendly and couldn't even bring himself to make small talk. The drinks were served in tiny plastic cups and were not worthy of the price associated with them. Upon getting to our room that was supposedly just inspected, we walked in and found an used tissue laying on the floor next to the bed. The hotel pool felt like it was below freezing. There was one server at the pool (who was super friendly and was working incredibly hard) for the entire pool. We rented a cabana because it was sold to us as if we would have a server to order from. We ended up having to order multiple drinks at once due to never seeing the guy. The pool is open until 10pm, yet the bar at the pool closed around 6pm and the bar in the lobby closed at 8pm. Once the bar closed there was nowhere to order drinks or even get drinking water for that matter. When we asked the bartender where we could get a drink or a bite to eat, who was still at the bar watching television after the 8pm closing time, he told us we would have to walk down the block to one of the bars. He then turned around and continued watching tv. The next day when we checked out we tried to inform the person at the front desk of the experience we had just so that they were aware. The guy instantly became defensive and began talking over us and told us that "out of all of the items we were not pleased about, the only item valid was the used tissue on the floor of the room." I told him that as paying customers (at $300 plus a night) everything we say should hold some validity. He was completely arrogant and rude. The lady who was at the front desk with him then chimed in and said "if they aren't happy then tell them to go talk to the manager" with an attitude as if we weren't standing right in front of them. Trust me, you would receive better service at a budget motel. Do not stay at this place. The photos make this place seem as if it is alive and friendly and colorful. It is just the opposite. There are no plants or greenery anywhere on the property. Most of the hotel is under renovation with boxes of construction materials laying out in the entrances. All of the hallways need new paint and carpet needs replacing. The photos misrepresent the property entirely. We will never stay here again and will advise all of our friends to never book here as well.

We were there three nights for an event. The event ran from 5 to 8 on Friday and 10 to 6 on Saturday, later you will see why this is important. Our bill was $800.00
Pros
The facility has been beautifully renovated, the rooms are spacious and clean.
The staff was unfailingly helpful and courteous. They went out of their way to be nice.

Cons
The beds are a mile high.
There were no glasses, plastic or otherwise in the bathroom.
The only coffee by the coffee maker was dark roast.
The lounge had unspeakably loud music in the evening.
There was no food available after 8 pm, not even room service or grab and go.
This group would have been okay if the rooms were serviced every day, but they were not serviced at all while we were there, which I understand but......
There was one bar of soap and one set of toiletries
There were only two bottles of water in the room
There were two complete sets of towels, plus an extra bath towel
There were only two paper cups by the coffee maker.

A lot of potential here if they just work on it a little bit.

As they say: “location, location, location”. This hotel resort is at the best location downtown where you just stroll out to the legendary restaurants and shops in Palm Springs. We just spent 6 wonderful nights there. The room was spacious, the bed heavenly and the towels plush. What more can I say except the balcony is wide and we really enjoyed the pool view and the famous Banksy wall art? Yes, let’s not forget the delicious Blood Mary(s) we had there. I lost count of how many the genius bartender “Juan” made for us, even for breakfast to go along with the “Coachella Sunrise” sandwich. The hotel was fully booked over the weekend and the pool was buzzing. We rode the hotel shuttle from the Palm Springs airport which is under 10 minutes away. The staff was wonderful during our entire stay. I consider Hotel Zoso not just the best value, but simply the best. I hear the new owners are about to significantly upgrade the facilities in many phases. So I plan to be back again very soon.

My partner and I were excited to travel again and to head to palm springs. we wanted something downtown and Hotel zoso seemed like a great fit. From start to finish it was a letdown! I booked a master suite on the 3rd floor to overlook the pool and was put on the first floor with no balcony with a window facing the parking lot. the customer service at the front desk was cold and short as if we were an inconvenience since we were early. the room was so dirty and dark. the window curtains had holes in them and the shower head was loose. our Air conditioner didn't work it was 83 degrees in room, we called about it friday and didnt have someone fix it until Saturday at 3pm. housekeeping never came for both days and we had to hunt down a cart for towels. The pool bar over charged us and didnt honor happy hour because that only applied at the lobby bar not the pool bar but front desk never told us and it wasnt posted anywhere on the sheet we were given. Saturday we wanted to go to the pool but because they had a DJ and people from the outside can just go to the pool there was no where to lay or even get in the water. so our options were stay in a hot room facing the parking lot or stand by the pool in the sun . After telling the front desk all our concerns we were given very cold nasty attitude regarding all these issues and whats unfortunate is I work in hotels and happen to be a front desk manager for a boutique hotel if my guest had any of these terrible expierences id comp a night or room service or something to make it right. Do yourself a favor and avoid this hotel and its terrible staff. its just embarassing for what they charge.

This is my worst hotel experience ever. DO NOT STAY here! We paid $600 a night for a crappy tepid shower where I was freezing and had to crank up the heater to stay warm. Gardner with a super loud leaf blower came at 7:30 in the morning on weekend and holiday. We called and asked nicely about these issues they told us that’s just how it is. They don’t care because they will just get money from travelers who will continue to book online. I’ve never in my life been motivated to write a negative review, this is my first negative review ever. I usually believe in only writing positive reviews, my experience here was that disappointing. You may be thinking that I’m just picky it can’t be that bad- I feel the need to tell you I am an anthropologist I have lived in the jungle for months in India with no running water, I’ve traveled across oceans on a very very small sailboat with no hot water and no showers for weeks, I’ve hiked the Himalayas without showering sleeping on straw beds. I could go on. I’ve stayed in more accommodating places for $25 with a bucket to wash myself in. DO NOT STAY HERE!

The location is good but book the Hilton across the road for a similar price. It is much nicer, they have plenty of sun beds, better pool area and servers bringing drinks to beds with an extensive menu.

Hotel Zoso holds a open pool party every Saturday, we were unable to get a bed at the pool on the one day we wanted use of the pool. The sun beds are limited and dirty in need of a clean. The music is terribly loud in the lobby and pool area. Probably only good for groups as it was very clicky.

There was only one person working the pool bar, when asked for a cocktail off the menu (one of only 3 drinks on there) we were told they were only served on Saturdays as if we were supposed to know.

Seen a few reviews on here re valet parking. They tried to give us the wrong car, don’t know how they get this so wrong when they have one job.

No key card is needed to obtain access to the rooms which is a security issue which should be looked at. We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights and no housekeeping visited during the whole stay.

When returning to Palm Springs we will avoid and book the Hilton instead.
