The Dunes Hotel in Palm Springs garners praise for its welcoming and stylish ambiance, particularly its modern, clean rooms with cozy beds and the social vibe of the pool area. Guests have called out the prime location that offers convenient access to downtown, with ample parking despite some concerns about nearby homelessness.
The staff's friendliness and helpfulness contribute to the hotel's reputation for value, though there are occasional mentions of minor communication issues. While the overall cleanliness receives high marks, some guests suggest improvements for the pool and note the rooms could benefit from better lighting and quieter A/C units.

Detailed Reviews
I love this place because it’s not pretending to be something it isn’t. And it is a good, solid, clean, and friendly hotel with an extremely comfortable bed I might add. The rooms are decorated very nicely, and there are plenty of amenities, such as a refrigerator, coffee machine, and really everything you need. I have found the room to be very well. Temperature dash controlled as well. I especially have liked the fact that I can get free filtered water anytime I want a few doors down in the grab and go area. And finally, the pool area is lovely. I am currently staying at this hotel over pride weekend and my stay so far has been fantastic. I especially value the extreme friendliness and great service from the staff. I will stay here the next time I return without hesitation.

I’ve never been to Palm Springs, so picking out a hotel was really hard to do when trying to find one that would be comfortable and affordable, I was very surprised with the dunes, it was just a simple, clean, Cute hotel And in walking distance of everything we needed. It’s like a hidden gem that I hope stays hidden lol. The only thing I will say is the rooms are a little dim because they have table lamps so maybe adding another light but other than that it was a great stay, beds are comfy, the pool was great and love the outdoor seating
Front desk was amazing, super nice and welcoming!

Dear agG681US So glad we lived up to the challenge of your first visit to Palm Springs. Saying we are cute, clean and comfy is high praise indeed. We are working on sourcing additional lamps so look for that on your next trip. Thanks again!

Stayed three nights at The Dunes hotel. The pre-arrival process is annoying. They sent about 6 emails beforehand then multiple texts asking for the same identification and payment information. Perhaps it speeds up check-in. Hotel is nicely renovated with lots of well-arranged common space. Comfortable beds and nice bath. Could use more room lighting and storage. Saturday morning landscapers were jack hammering outside which started way too early. Cleaning carts are extremely loud passing by the rooms making it difficult to sleep late.

Dear Roger Thanks for the good score and your feedback. If you do not care for the digital process you can always reply "STOP" at anytime and then do your check in at the desk at arrival. So glad you liked the renovation, common spaces, beds and bath. The housekeeping staff is not scheduled until 9:00am specifically so guests are not disturbed. That can be challenging for getting rooms ready for arrivals at 3:00pm but we think it's worth it. Thanks again

+1
Upon arrival, they booked us into an already booked room. A bit embarrassing interrupting an existing guest. Room access is a bit strange. We had to enter a six digit code followed by the pound sign not only at the room door but also when entering site. Many of the doors had no lights so we had to use our cell phones as flashlights to see the numbers. The TV didn't work. We talked to the front desk who fixed the TV in a few hours. Strange that it wasn't checked by housekeeping. The shower was simply a converted tub system, so it was very tiny. The bathroom sink was very strange... it wouldn't drain sometimes and then other times it worked just fine (weird). The floor felt sticky when you walked on them. I'm not sure if it was a cleaning issue or the type of flooring used but it made it feel as if it wasn't clean. The bathroom door had paint peeling off so it made everything just feel old. The parking was insufficient. Several nights we had to park on the street south of the hotel. Most of the parking spaces had signs that said "No Hotel Parking"... obviously it was a problem. The front desk folks addressed the few problems immediately which was nice.

Dear Z7394Vlterryp Thanks for your feedback. As we told you in the moment we are very sorry an inadvertent clerical error sent you to an occupied room but glad that we were able to fix your TV so quickly. We would have done the same for the plumbing and paint if you had mentioned it during your stay and if unable to resolve the problem relocated you. We never want a guest to stay in a room they are dissatisfied with! Finally sharing our parking lot with one of the most popular restaurants in the city is challenging which why we actively seeking nearby overflow parking. We hope that will be in place for your next visit!

For the price, you don't expect the trendy decor and comfort of this small property. But, you will be pleasantly surprised. After submitting an unusual amount of info about yourself, your reservation is approved. The staff at the property are helpful and courteous. The room has a cute blue retro mini fridge and great amenities. The pool and hot tub area are well maintained and amply furnished. One weak point is the gym. The Peloton equipment requires a subscription. The rower is buggy, the touchscreen works erratically, and the screen often freezes. A note to owners, put in Concept2 equipment - sturdy, easy to use and a subscription is not required. Concept2 equipment is also reasonably priced. You could put in rower, bike and skier for what you paid for that buggy Peloton rower.

Don't stay here. It's a mediocre motel, at best. Rooms are small with extremely noisy A/C. Pool was filthy so no guests use it; seems like they don't clean their pool filters enough. Gym is not good. There are much better and cheaper options nearby, so stay elsewhere!

Dear Jon Thank you for your feedback. We're sorry your experience didn't meet our usual standard of excellence (as evidenced by the 19 5 star reviews on this site). We regret you did not accept our offer to change rooms or to check out (with a full refund) and find accommodations nearby. We never want a guest to stay in a room or hotel not to their satisfaction. Since we were unable to resolve these issues for you I am refunding both of your resort fees. Rest assured we have scheduled the unit(s) to be serviced prior to another guest staying there. We have also scheduled a review of our pool maintenance even though your comments about our pool are not the norm. For us one unhappy guest is too many. Thanks again.

The customer service and location are top notch with this hotel. Always greeted with a smile, and their pleasantness was above and beyond if you ask me. Plus, when I forgot my Kindle in the room, they called me and let me know and mailed it out to me!
Plus, they are one block away from all the great restaurants and stores.
I also appreciate that they have flooring instead of carpeting . Just a cleanliness thing for me. Is it a "resort" no, but still a great place to stay.

The room and beds were extremely cozy, comfortable, and clean. The hotel is very close to downtown Palm Springs where we enjoyed breakfast, lunch, dinner, ice cream, and shopping - all within walking distance. The hotel staff were welcoming, friendly, and quick to help answer any questions when needed. We enjoyed most of our day poolside. There was a great ambiance and plenty of lounge chairs, umbrellas, and cabanas to enjoy while our daughter swam to every corner of the pool. All in all, our whole family had an amazing time at The Dunes. Will definitely plan another trip soon!

Everything from A-Z was perfect! The remodeled rooms are very stylish and cozy, the beds (mattresses and pillows) are simply divine and invite to lounge in the morning
The staff is the best, so friendly and helpful, from the front desk to housekeeping, maintenance and pool service! Bravo for having created such a positive vibe all around !
We should have stayed longer than 4 days and talked about extending our vacation but hopefully we can come back next year and stay for a week!

We stayed at The Dunes for 1 night and had a great stay. The check in process was easy and had a nice front desk staff that was available to answer any questions via text. It was nice everything was keyless, one less thing to carry or remember to bring with me.
The room was spacious, included a refrigerator, coffee and cable.
The gym had peloton equipment (bike and rower) and some free weights.
The pool was a great place for my toddler to use up some energy.
There was plenty around the hotel to sit outside or inside to enjoy games and have somewhere to eat our takeout.
The hotel is located in the heart of downtown, it was nice to walk around when it cooled off.
Overall it was great stay and we’ll definitely be back.
