I had reserved a room and paid $448 prior to the pandemic. When the pandemic hit and everything shut down, I needed to cancel, as my reason for going to PS had evaporated. The Rendevous issued me a gift certificate for $448. I was able to use it to make a reservation in December 2022 for January 2023. The day before my arrival they cancelled my reservation due to construction, then reinstated it 2 hours later but would no longer honor the $448 gift certificate. The excuse was "new owners." In the State of CA gift certificates are not supposed to expire. I now have to take the new owners to small claims court.
This is was our 3rd time staying here. The FINAL TIME, I might add. Our last visit was back in early 2019 before it had been sold over and over again. It use to be so nice with a couple who owned and or managed it well. A great nightly happy hour with wine and snacks. Along with a hot cooked breakfast with a daily menu change. Rooms were cleaned daily with fresh towels. Now there's NOTHING! Not to mention it's a total dump. Dirty, rotted wood everywhere, broken glass, the exterior is peeling, the awning to welcome you is completely tattered and broken, trash in the parking area, broken door handles, the bathroom was disgusting, etc... It's a complete DUMP! Do not waste your money. No more happy hour (well unless you want this-Pace picante sauce from a jar with stale chips and slushy margarita mix without tequila. The chips, salsa, and "margarita" mix were still sitting out for guests to "ENJOY" the next morning! It had been sitting out uncovered for over 15 hours! GROSS! No wonder why they're stale! Our original reservations were set and paid for April 2022. They canceled our reservations telling us they had to close for renovations until November! So we thought we'll wait until they're done. NO RENOVATIONS we're ever done! This place use to be a hidden gem. Do yourself a favor and stay at a Motel 6. At least it's updated and clean. Not to mention about 1/3 of the price. We paid $500 for two nights. Oh, and there's no one working the desk (at least from morning to around 3pm) so you're on your own if you need anything. The front desk guy is very nice, but this $hit show place is out of his control. I feel bad for him! PS: no blow dryers in the rooms either! I haven’t had to pack a blow dryer in over two decades because EVERY place we stay offers them. And we travel A LOT!…
We stayed for a group buyout the first weekend of June and it was perfect. The hotel is older, it's got some major wear and tear (My husband even weeded the flower beds for them before our guests arrived), but the 11 room property is all yours and it made for an amazing weekend . We had access to the full kitchen, the pool all to ourselves and even access to the music system. The rooms are cute, and very clean. If you want to stay here and rent out the entire place you should. One of the best trips we've ever been on. In fact our group wants to make this an annual thing.
We just stayed at the Rendezvous. It's an interesting place with a nice set-up with pool, hot tub and gathering areas around the pool. It was a little weird to not have anyone there when we arrived. Instead, a secure code to the main entrance was texted to us so we could enter our room. Most rooms surround the pool, but we wanted some privacy so we selected the room known as "The Back Lot". It's room #11. It has its own entrance down a gravel path and, unfortunately, it's not in the "back" at all. It's right next to a busy city street. The noise was too much for us and we left after only 1 of our 2 booked nights. The room is sub-standard. It has an excellent kind-sized bed, but there is minimal other seating in the room. There is a chair and a reclining lounge. Since there was no other space for suitcases the lounge had to hold those. The TV is large, but it's to the right of the bed. The bathroom is labeled as "cozy". That must be B&B talk for "small with no counter space". If bathroom privacy is important to you...forget it here. The narrow entrance is "closed" by open-louvered, bi-fold panels. We were there at the same time as a large group of couples who helped orient us to the facility since there was no on-site management. We had read reviews of The Rendezvous and looked forward to evening gatherings and complimentary breakfasts. Unfortunately, neither of those amenities exist any longer. If you're considering booking here AVOID ROOM #11!…
We booked direct on the day on their website to get the best deal. The communication was so good that we were able to check in early. The Stagecoach room was lovely with lots of memorabilia. The pool was warm and the sun loungers outside our room caught the sun all afternoon. Great location, easy parking, we will be back.
OK, so there are places that are great and places that are ok and places that aren't very nice. This is the first hotel I've stayed at that falls into the "avoid at all cost" category. It's not that it's dirty or uncomfortable or anything like that. The rooms are reasonably clean, there's a nice pool that's well kept up, a common room where you can brew a cup of coffee in the Keurig, etc. Read on for the fatal flaws. My wife and I came out to Palm Springs to join four other couples. We all wanted a reasonably priced hotel we all could stay at that was within walking distance of restaurants, bars, etc. One of the group saw the exemplary ratings the Rendezvous had earned (in the past) and suggested we make it our base for out trip. Indeed, there are tons of great reviews for the Rendezvous and it had won awards from Trip Advisor and such. It appears, though, that the place recently changed ownership and plummeted in quality in disastrous fashion. (And they haven't bothered to change their Business Info on Yelp. Do NOT expect any kind of breakfast, happy hour, or spa service as they do not provide these.) As a matter of fact, forget any review done prior to mid-2021. This place went from 5 to 1 star right around then. A list of the problems: 1) Lack of security. I won't go into this in detail, but anyone staying at the hotel could have gotten into anyone else's room anytime, day or night. Really. Had the hotel not been pretty much completely occupied by our group of five couples, we'd have left before our first night there. 2) Lack of anyone onsite to check people in, deal with problems, ask you how your stay is, etc. They appear to have tried to set up an automated system in which you download a photo of your driver's license and a selfie to deal with the requirement that they ID everyone staying at the hotel. Once that happens, you're supposed to get an access code to get into the hotel. Of course, we didn't. Fortunately, one of our group got that code from another guest. Really. The next day, I received a cheery text asking me how my stay was going. When I replied with a request for another room key, I received no reply. Until the next day when i got another cheery text asking me how my stay was going. (I didn't bother replying to that one.) At no point during our four day stay did we see anyone connected with the hotel except the person who came and cleaned the pool. 3) Smaller problems included concrete floors with no rugs. No creamer of any kind in the coffee area. A laundered but badly stained towel in our bathroom. A shower that didn't work in one of our friend's rooms (they were moved to another room after calling management). In fairness, there were positives. Decent Keurig coffee, a nice pool area with a clean pool and a firepit. Nifty room decor. And that's it. There's a lot more that was completely unacceptable about our experience here. But when I wrote it up in Word and copied it here, I was WAY over the character limit. Suffice it to say that this place is awful. This is sad, because it looks like it was a hoot to stay at in its heyday, but that day is gone. Bottom line: You can NOT run a business in the service sector without providing service. Perhaps the Rendezvous is trying to run an entirely automated hotel the way that some fast food places are trying to go completely automated. Well big surprise: this does not work. It's a terrible idea and it makes it appear that no one really cares at all about the hotel or its guests. And yeah, room security really does matter. Mike sez do NOT check it out under any circumstances.…
We've stayed at this hotel several times before and have always enjoyed out stay. We've also stayed in a few different rooms, they are always very clean and comfortable. Love the two person jacuzzis' that are in most rooms. The outdor jacuzzi is perfectly hot and the pool warm, even in chilly weather. High recommend it.
This is by far one of the worst hotels I’ve ever stayed at. We came here for a weekend getaway. It felt like the hotel was deserted. There was no staff to help in the office. It is NOT a BnB. There is no breakfast. Only a Keurig. The worst part was the bed and complete lack of sleep. It’s a very old mattress with a huge topper on it that basically acts like quicksand. We could barely get on and off the bed we’re in our 30’s. There was no table in the room, no central lights, the bathrooms were so old and dingy, the floors were so dirty our feet had to be washed multiple times. I’m not sure where the good reviews for this place came from but this place is nothing short of a run down motel. We let them know we were checking our early due to all of the issues, and never heard back. Horrible customer service and facility. Stay elsewhere!…
The room we stayed in this time was clean and comfortable. It had a comfortable bed and great sheets and a good whirlpool. Unfortunately, no windows opened, so no fresh air. The outdoor pool and hot tub were as good as remembered. Sadly, the 3 course breakfast was no longer available. There were no employees on site. The property was recently sold, and the one employee who checked in once in a while told us the owners live out of state. Because of covid, we were mostly alone there - not the hotel's fault, of course. There were no lights in the parking lot, but in messages with management, they said this would be corrected.
Palm Springs Rendezvous suffers from neglect. The room smelled musty, floors and walls were pealing and the room was not clean. The worst part is that there seems to be drug sales happening in the vacant lot across the street from the dimly lit entrance. Two men in cars were screaming at each other when we arrived after dark. I was afraid that this incident might involve gunfire, thankfully it didn’t. We had booked two nights but left after the first night. I did not feel safe here and will never return.
