The office at the hotel was fantastic! When I had to cancel our trip last-minute (less than 24 hours before our stay) they issued a full refund and waived the cancelation fee because I booked directly through their website. Would totally recommend and stay there in the future!

Hotel's Favorite
Quaint hotel with about 40 rooms, the pool is the center of the attention with all the rooms surrounding it and plenty of space to lay out and catch some sun (the pool is perfectly placed to get your tan on, but don't worry they have plenty of umbrellas if you need shade). Right outside the pool area they have a grassy space with some chairs and a gas fire pit. The staff is amazing and super friendly, great customer service. They do a small breakfast daily in the little pool house (they had an awesome frittata and some fresh OJ, plus more). Our room was a deluxe king, so it was one of the newly remodeled, I highly recommend you go for one of these. The hotel is about a mile and half from downtown, $8 uber ride so I would say it's a pretty good location. We have stayed at this hotel a few times and I highly recommend it.

We stayed here back in 2018 and were looking forward to coming back. WONDERFUL staff, very friendly. Rooms were very clean; property undergoing renovation but still nice, very quiet at night, and super comfy beds and pillows. The included breakfast was prepared fresh, every day, and the organic fresh orange juice that was served every morning was the best! I don't usually waste calories on juice, but I could not pass this up. The staff took much pride in their delicious breakfast, which also included good coffee (and I'm picky). We especially like the location; very walkable to many shops and restaurants and close to hiking trails. We will be back -- again!

Quaint updated hotel with very friendly accommodating staff! The 4 queens loved it. Clean. Comfortable. Delicious homemade frittata for breakfast. We’d definitely go back and we are particular! Don’t judge the book by it’s cover.! Beyond the security gates is a gem of a hotel.

The included breakfast was fabulous. I really appreciated that there were some low sugar options. The offerings every day were bacon, egg frittata, plain yogurt, sweetened yogurt, granola, cold cereal, bread/toast/bagels, fresh fruit (oranges, apples, bananas), usual beverages. The frittata was especially delicious. Such a good breakfast for a full day of hiking! The staff are amazing and very helpful throughout our stay. We checked in after normal check-in hours, and Leylani was very helpful with this. I called ahead of time and she walked me through the process and then sent a detailed email as well. There was a lockbox for the key and phone number to call to get the code. It worked well and I liked that there was a normal key, rather than a key card that doesn't always work (like at other places). The hot tub and pool were nice. The pool is heated and my sister thinks it is a salt pool. The shower had great water pressure and was very hot! We enjoyed having a fridge in the room. The location was good, just a few minutes driving to the restaurants, 10-15 minutes to hiking, about an hour to the Joshua Tree National Park entrance. We had room 26: It could use some updating, but worked well for us. A few improvements that would be helpful: an additional mirror or two outside of the bathroom to facilitate getting ready when someone is in the bathroom, more plug-ins/ maybe a power strip somewhere. The bed is quite soft so not too comfortable for us who are used to a more firm mattress. Thank you to everyone at Skylark for making us feel welcome! We enjoyed our stay!

A 1950's motel recently remodeled (some parts still under construction, the Skylark has the pros-and-cons of being a vintage motel. The pros: It's scrupulously clean--inside and out. My room was spotless, the linens and towels were excellent. I couldn't ask for a cleaner room. The staff is uniformly nice and helpful. The BEDS were very COMFORTABLE. The hotel was QUIET. The included BREAKFAST was delicious--lots of crisp bacon, an egg frittata, cereal, yogurt, toast and bagels. The cons: It's under construction (though I heard no construction noise over the weekend). It's basically an old motel, so the bathroom, while spotlessly clean, could have used work on the shower. The curtains--they're blackout curtains, but they don't overlap, so it can feel as if they're not completely closed. Since the walkway is right outside the window, that can feel like a privacy issue. I'd suggest they add blinds behind the curtains. Bottom Line: Would I stay there again? Yes!

On the pro side fair price, nice heated pool and jacuzzi, view of the San Jacinto mountain range, location close to a few restaurants, okay breakfast with TV news off, good sized room, a window that opens, internet good, mini frig in room, desk, 2 pool robes. On the con side: entrance on Palm Canyon closed for construction of a café. Entrance on Indian Canyon also closed—have to telephone the manager and wait to get buzzed in through a construction door--stressful and unwelcoming. Breakfast eggs and bacon reheated day to day. No sweet rolls or waffles, just toast. Our room was dated with frayed glue down carpet, peeling paint, cracked lampshades, and a toilet that would not flush. No microwave in room. Very complicated thermostat. We probably will not stay here again.

We had a great experience at this hotel. The room was clean with a very nice bathroom/shower. We did not get a chance to use the pool but it was heated and clean. The breakfast is actually very tasty and a nice quick meal before heading out for the day. The staff was also very helpful and quick to respond.

Fabulous experience overall. Friendly staff like Francisco who go OUT of their way to ensure all your needs are met and were extremely apologetic of the renovation work going on to better the experience. Complimentary breakfast was fresh and absolutely delicious. Very clean amenities and the bed gave us the best sleep weve had in a while!! Would 100 percent come back and stay again.
