The hotel has much to be desired. Let's start with the good. The hotel has a wonderful history. The pool and grounds are maintained fairly well with plenty of seating and umbrellas. The staff is super friendly, professional, and polite. The location is amazing for walking around downtown to shops and restaurants. I felt very safe in the area walking especially at night. It's very very quiet at night. The bed was comfortable and the room smelled good. BIG safe that a regular laptop will fit into plus more.

OK, let's talk about the issues. The room, although cute, retro, and trendy, was mildly disgusting. Especially the bathroom. I can overlook gunk in the corners, banged up and scratched stained nightstands, sticky doors, or lots of scale on the showerhead with rust on a towel bar, but what I can't tolerate are cockroaches. YES, you read right, there was a cockroach in the bathroom. A BIG ONE! I called the number for staff at night and they did apologize and sent someone over to help remove the pest. It's an old hotel in the desert in CA... I'm sure it's happened to the best of hotels, right?

I don't know, call me crazy, but for the amount of money I spent for a hotel stay, I sort of had higher expectations with the accommodations being cleaner, fresher, well maintained. If I stay and sleep somewhere less clean or more poorly maintained than my own home, I think that is disappointing. I hate to say that I was 'slumming it' but I felt as though I was doing just that. Sad.
If you can overlook crusty, rusty, banged-up hotel room stays, then I think you'll be OK with the Del Marcos.

Glad to hear you loved the pool, grounds, the safe and convenient location and our friendly staff. We work hard to maintain a beloved historic landmark and have been rewarded with 20 years of largely very positive reviews and repeat guests. That said, if you were dissatisfied with your room we wish you had told us so we could immediately move you to another room or provide a full refund and assistance finding other accommodations. We would never want a guest to stay two more nights in a room not to their liking.

I stayed up the Del Marcos hotel for two nights at $129. The room I got was outside the entire hotel and facing a busy intersection. I honestly felt like I was being punished for getting the cheapest room in the hotel. The heater did not work and people were constantly walking back-and-forth a crossed my patio. By the time I checked out my bill had totaled over $500 and I didn’t even order anything extra. This was an awful experience that I will never do it again. The sad part is if I had just paid $10 more and gotten the $139 room everything probably would’ve been fine but they don’t tell you that on the Internet.

If you book direct with the hotel you get the best rooms. There are detailed descriptions on our website.... we do not punish guests or mislead guests in any way. When you book through a different travel agency sight, you don't get a choice of rooms and it automatically books you into a room at our hotel. If you book direct, we also offer extra perks like loyalty discounts, early check in and late check out (when possible) as well as lots of other goodies. Sorry you didn't enjoy the William Cody Room. It's the only room on the outside of the hotel, but some guests actually love that room (and request it) with the original rock walls, front patio and the amazing doors. That was the first room "finished" at the hotel in 1947 and William Cody and Donald Wexler worked out of that room to finish the design of the hotel and also the furnishings. It's a shame when people write a review they don't mention the AMAZING features of the hotel such as the beautiful lobby, spacious pool area with plenty of lounge chairs, heated pool with insane views, fire pits at night, walking distance to downtown, free use of bikes etc.....I have spent 20 years and millions of dollars restoring the hotel to it's original charm and 99% of our guest LOVE the Del Marcos. And we ALWAYS offer guests to leave if they do not like the hotel or the room.

I recently spent almost a week at the Del Marcos in both the Cody and Frey rooms. It was quiet, relaxing...perfect for a getaway. I loved both of the rooms I stayed in, their quirkiness in mid-century decor, absolutely loved that the hotel tried to keep any historical furnishings (ex: some of the kitchen in the Frey room?). The staff went over and above for me when I wanted to stay extra nights, the food from Azucar at La Serena was wonderful, definitely check out sunset at Sugar High and I loved the bags of breakfast goodies. I'm back in Palm Springs next week and am very sad that they are sold out for the time I'll be n town or I would have booked again, want to check out so many of the other rooms.

We're so excited to hear you enjoyed your stay with us and were planning on staying with us again this coming weekend. We do tend to sell out, especially on weekends and suggest you book early if you can. We hope you can come back many more times and enjoy the rest of our rooms as they are all very unique.

The Del Marcos has been updated and/or well-kept to preserve the nostalgia of the era when first built. The hotel’s charm exists in the fine details of the rooms, the architecture and the 1940s jazz music playing by the pool. The staff were helpful and friendly, including that of the sister hotel La Serena Villas which has a very nice restaurant and a bar with yummy craft cocktails.

We stopped off at Del Marcos as a reprieved on a long road trip, and so glad we did. I will definitely be back!

Only spent two amazing days at Del Marcos and honestly, I can’t wait to go back. Our room was clean, beautifully designed, and cannot say how incredible it is to have a private outdoor patio. Love the pool rules - keep it chill; everyone is there to relax, not party. Was able to rest, rejuvenate, and thoroughly enjoy a short stay because of the whole vibe Del Marcos provides. Extra bonuses: the quaint breakfast is just perfect with yogurt, fresh fruit, and delicious muffins & complimentary happy hour is lovely to top off a long day lounging by the pool. Any time I’m in the area, I won’t consider staying anywhere else in Palm Springs!

We loved our 2 night stay in the Christopher Kennedy suite. The room was beautifully decorated with a separate bedroom and kitchen/living room. Loved the retro decor! Oh and the private outside patio was an added bonus. The pool area is lovely, so peaceful and convenient to all the rooms. Added bonuses like afternoon happy hour and continental breakfast together with the perfect location to walk to restaurants in Palm Springs, we would definitely stay here again. The sister property next door provides a wonderful restaurant option that we enjoyed one night. Excellent service all around!

Clean, comfortable and very cool. Been coming to the Del Marcos for a dozen years.
perfect location, friendly and familiar service. Stephen, who runs the day to day couldn't have been nicer to our group- anticipating our needs and making us feel very welcome.
Terrific breakfast and happy hour are icing on the cake.
Needless to say, our group will be back at the Del for our 13th year in 2021

I did mid week 2 day stay to avoid potential weekend crowd. I wanted to stay in this old school Palm Springs gem (architect William F. Cody first commission). Hotel is small, very clean, mid century feel. I was concerned with COVID practices and regulations, must say this place was great in following rules. I felt very safe and was able to really relax. Property next door (same owner) has great food and cocktails, so I had no need to move much in that torching heat. I will be back.

I was traveling in the area and unexpectedly had to change lodging due to an unsafe neighborhood where I was staying in an AirBnB. I called and explained I was looking for something that day and Steven was incredible in getting me set up and settled as soon as I arrived. Even had a bottle of (much needed) wine waiting for me in my room! The morning coffee is delicious, the pool and atmosphere quaint and relaxing. So thankful to the respite this place and its staff provided. Highly recommend! Thanks again, Steven- your hospitality was so appreciated.

Really enjoyed our 2 night stay...from the no cell phone conversations at the pool to the amazing happy hours with aperol spritzed and margaritas and just delish spread of cheeses, nuts, guacamole, chips, etc. we stayed in the Errol Flynn suite which had a very large patio to view the beautiful mountains. Would definitely stay here again

Do you have a hot tub? How big?
Answer from Lars V
Los Angeles, California21 contributions5 helpful votes
We beat the pool between 88-90 degrees so night swimming is awesome! The following rooms have outdoor tubs: poolside, Nat Reed, and Christopher Kennedy. Shag has an indoor claw foot tub. If you need a hotel w a hot tub. Check out the 350 Hotel or La Serena Villas (our sister properties!!)

What time does the pool close and open?
Answer from Lars V

typically it's open from 8am to 10pm.....because all of the guest rooms are around the pool.. but if you are in the pool and being quiet and not disturbing the other guests...then you can stay in there all night!
