This oasis is nestled in the beautiful San Jacinto Mountains, and is steps from the heart of Downtown Palm Springs. Upon arrival, the kindest staff provided us with hand sanitizer and enforced that everyone wear a mask and stay 6 feet apart. We always felt very safe and taken care of. Most of La Serena is currently open for business as usual, except Whispers Spa treatments are unavailable and indoor dining at their poolside restaurant, Azucar, was inaccessible. These small changes did not hinder our stay at all. We had the absolute best time and I am so excited to tell you about it!

Walking up to Villa 3, the first thing I noticed was our private entry with a walkway straight to our own personal courtyard with a beautiful fire pit & vintage claw foot bathtub. I mentally noted that we would spend most of our time there, and rushed to open the door to our home for the next three days. This beautiful fountain bungalow is a spacious 300 square feet with a cozy king size bed and a 40" flat screen TV. (Johnny and I always travel with our Apple TV, so we loved this feature for watching movies before bed). From the oversized shower complete with a seat + a rain shower head (and the most beautiful tile!), to the luxurious Frette linens and immaculate furniture, every square inch of this place was beautiful. With L’Occitane skin and bath products & plush robes, it's impossible not to feel spoiled here. It was hard to leave our villa, but escaping to the pool is always a must. With 116 degree temperatures, floating in the pool with a signature cocktail from the Azucar restaurant is a no-brainer. This little slice of heaven always puts me in total relaxation mode. After our time at the pool, we came back to our private patio to enjoy champagne in our outdoor bath tub. These are some of my fondest memories.

The staff at La Serena Villas always makes us feel so at home. Each morning, they kindly dropped off our breakfast basket. I mean seriously, how adorable is that! Inside the basket we found berries, muffins, granola + yogurt parfaits, and fresh juice. So YUMMY! We got to enjoy this awesome breakfast spread from the comfort of our bed, socially distanced from other guests.

For dinner, we headed over to their poolside restaurant, Azucar. They thoughtfully spaced the tables apart, and the staff wore masks at all times. We ordered drinks with their chicken lettuce wraps + chips and guac while we enjoyed gazing up at the stars underneath the misters. It was completely magical.

Looking at luxury hotels in the LA area for an anniversary, I found them extremely pricey and decided to search in Palm Springs. We booked La Serena based on positive reviews, beauty, and more bang for our buck. On arrival, we were delighted to find out we had been generously upgraded to a two room suite complete with private hot tub. The property is more stunning in person than online; you can tell it was designed to maximize seclusion (certain windows onto other bungalows are opaque to let in light but maintain your privacy). We stayed during the week and found it very quiet, almost never seeing other guests.

There was much thought put into the design and building of La Serena. I was told the hotel was several years old, but our suite seemed still new. Decorated in a Mexico meets Manhattan style, it was filled with quality items and furniture, a comfy bed and luxurious bath and linens.

We found the breakfast basket generous; I am not sure why there were complaints about it being "small". We are big eaters and found staff were happy to give us an extra complimentary croissant or muffin. We did not get a chance to try Azucar and ate at other restaurants.

Our private hot tub was the perfect temperature and we enjoyed the perfectly heated pool, always complete with ice cold flavoured water and plenty of towels. Most days, we had it to ourselves. The property is beautifully landscaped, with plenty of parking located at the back. Although more on the young side, the staff were always friendly and helpful. We had to use the a/c on occasion and it was very efficient. There is nothing worse than a/c that doesn't work well.

Don't even think about it, just book. La Serena is a sublime mix of luxury, staff, and gorgeous surroundings. For sure we will be back. Phone the hotel directly for any available deals. They also have a loyalty program, giving discounts to return guests.

Overall Great experience. The resort was very quiet and peaceful. The private fireplace and bath tubes in the rooms separate them from the rest of the resorts. After staying in many of the resorts in Palm Springs and driving down from LA. The only issue is that the restaurant is open to the public so it loses the exclusivity of a private stay as you can see other people come in that are not staying there. The restaurant is also situated around the pool which is a little weird because people are having dinner when you are trying to swim. I think that if they took out the restaurant and converted it to a hotel guests only bar that would be a better usage of the space.

Okay, so La Serena Villas is gorgeous. We stayed in Villa 18 and the vaulted ceilings, unique tiling, and spacious kitchen and patio were incredibly relaxing and lovely. We enjoyed the indoor fireplace and outdoor tub as well. Geographically, this hotel is also convenient where you can walk to the heart of Palm Springs easily.

However, they're a couple problems with this place. First, Azucar's food is just awful. We ate there twice and between us and our friends tried most of their thin menu, it was mostly plain and rather tasteless. Second, although this is advertised as and appears to be in a quiet neighborhood, we found it rather noisy. The first night, we could easily hear the music in the adjoining to us and the second night, there was a huge wedding happening right next door I believe at the Avalon. I understand this is Palm Springs but I searched hard to find the right hotel for a peaceful environment and this wasn't it.

And lastly, this hotel is bizarrely strict about its grounds. First, absolutely no one is allowed at the pool who doesn't stay there. We were traveling with friends who were staying nearby and they made no exceptions. They explained there just isn't enough room at the pool which makes sense in theory but there were never more than 2 or 3 people at the pool the entire time we stayed. I imagine its because the hotel wasn't full because the weather was gorgeous the weekend we were there. The hotel even winced at the thought of letting us bring our friends over to see the room. At $1,000/night for our room, the fact we felt judged for wanting to sit near the firepit and enjoy our friends' company for a little while is ridiculous. Again, I realize these rules are likely in place to prevent large parties from happening in the villas but we aren't teenagers bringing a six pack to our room. We're two middle aged, married couples who fall asleep at 900PM.

This place needs a couple of small adjustments to be perfect (different food, updated rules, and maybe coordinate with the hotel next door with its events). Until it changes, I won't be coming back.

Dear SF Traveler. Thank you very much for staying here and for writing this review. This really helps me to make the hotel a better hotel. Anything short of a 5 star review is a fail for me. My wife and I spent over $10M to build this quaint hotel and our goal is always for guests to be overwhelmed by the hotel and restaurant. I'm sorry you were disappointed with the rules, but 99% of the guests love the following: 1. Guests have to be over 21 (no kids jumping in the pool) 2. No talking on your cell phone at the pool (texting okay!!) 3. No outside guests at the hotel (we want to make sure we have plenty of lounge chairs for you!) We usually have extremely quiet days and nights at the hotel...the rooms are brand new and have extra soundproofing/double pane windows/quiet AC etc... so I'm sorry you happen to have a rare noisy night here. If you would like to come back and give us another try, I would be happy to make sure you get the most quiet room and I'll buy you dinner at AZUCAR... we just hired a Michelin Star Chef to update our menu and you will be pleasantly surprised!! I recently decided to take a last-minute solo trip to Palm Springs and booked my room on a hotel app literally an hour before I checked in. I couldn’t believe my good fortune! I enjoyed an exceptional two-day stay at La Serena in Villa 14. The layout, furnishings, linens and amenities created a warm, relaxing and luxurious getaway. Loved the private outdoor jacuzzi! The property itself offers a wonderful level of privacy and has obviously been built with a lot of thought and care. The check-in staff were efficient and friendly, the women cleaning the rooms were a delight and the wait staff at Azucar were very attentive and polite. All in all, a wonderful experience. I highly recommend LaSerena.

My husband and I stayed two nights at La Serena Villas and two at The Three Fifty across the street on our first trip to Palm Springs, and we loved the experience. The location of all three hotels in the family is just what we wanted. The surrounding neighborhoods are so much fun to explore on foot or bike. And you're close to Palm Canyon Drive with all its cute shops, restaurants and cafes. You're also close to the PS art museum which also has a great hike right behind it. The staff at La Serena was so wonderful too. They let us borrow bikes even when we were staying across the street, encouraged us to participate in the Modernist Week activities which were super fun and interesting, and on our last day, the woman at the font desk even mailed a postcard for me. The rooms at La Serena are gorgeous and even come with a private patio where we ate breakfast that was delivered to our room in an adorable basket. We will definitely stay there again...hopefully soon!

Where to start.... I would say that the things that this place does well are hospitality, comfort, dining, and simplicity. The check in and check out process is super easy and quick. The bedding was extremely comfortable, size of the room was more than enough (we got the smallest villa and it was just my wife and I). Shower, bathroom, and living space was super clean too. The back patio is a really nice touch and I wish that we spent more time out there.

Dining experience was top notch too. A little on the pricier side, but the quality of everything was great. We probably tried about 80% of the menu, I kid you not. For dinner, the salmon and the beef tenderloin were just perfect. Great portion sizes too on those. Beef tenderloin was really tender, cooked medium rare over faro with some roasted vegetables, I would get this every time. The salmon was also cooked to perfection and you won't be disappointed.

We had the tacos, sliders, chips & guac, watermelon salad, and sweet potato fries. All were great. I wish there was less cabbage in the tacos and more fish, but who wouldn't? I really enjoyed the sliders too at the pool. None of the dishes were super heavy either, so you didn't feel too bloated at the pool which was nice.

Lastly, the hospitality... Jose and crew were EXTREMELY nice and really made our experience here one to remember. Him and the team were not only super nice to my wide and I but really anyone who walked onto the property and at the restaurant. I want to point this out because it is not every day that you travel somewhere and one of the top 3 things that stand out is the poolside service. This CANNOT go unrecognized and this experience pretty much will be the reason that my wife and I come back to this place only when we visit Palm Springs.

At $800 a night, you would expect a lot more. As seen on the pictures on the website, and by confirmation via phone, we expected a room with ample daylight and the swing on the front porch. Upon checking, we were told that we would not have a front yard nor a swing nor anything to pick your show. As compensation, the room would be bigger. What a con job. This was such a disappointing hotel and especially at $800 a night, there are many other places that would be better suited to spend your money.

The room was extremely dark, with no natural daylight. When discussing this with the front desk, they said that it makes the room intimate. Again, give me a break.

Cushions had rips, blinds were broken, I can go on. The bottom line is, $800 a night, you would expect a lot more and they tried to sell us on this room being intimate when in reality, it really was a con job. They had no other rooms available, we were stuck and really couldn't do much.

Avoid this hotel as you will definitely not feel like your money is well spent.

Also, we felt that the hotel staff used covid as an excuse. The pool was open and the restaurant was open however, they would not service the room unless things were put away. Give me a break. Everything's open yet you can't service the room? Seems like a blatant excuse for cutting staff or cutting corners and saving money.

Dearckm123 We never want anyone to stay in a villa not to their satisfaction which is why when we were unable to fulfill your request for one of the 4 swing rooms when you called (or upon arrival) we offered cancellation without penalty and assistance to find other accommodations. It was gratifying that both of you seemed to enjoy the vegan breakfast options, the pool and restaurant. We will review your feedback with our team to ensure every guest is informed regarding the amenities of their room.

We spent two nights at La Serena Villas in January. This is a charming, beautifully restored and appointed boutique hotel just outside and a two minute walk into downtown Palm Springs. We were welcomed on arrival with a glass of champagne. The rooms consist of individual casitas, which makes for privacy and quiet. Our casita was spacious, cozy and comfortable and included a private outdoor patio with fire pit and bathtub. The hotel provided several bottles of drinking water and a nicely packaged complimentary continental breakfast delivered to our room in a basket. The swimming pool was a good size considering the size of the hotel; there is also a hot tub. Complimentary bicycles are made available to guests. We did not eat in the on-site restaurant but ordered a room service dessert which arrived quickly and was good. Staff was uniformly friendly and helpful. Note that there is limited on-site parking (otherwise, street parking) and it takes a few minutes for the shower to warm up (don’t give up!). Even though close to downtown, the hotel feels like a quiet oasis.

My Mom and I stayed in room #3 at La Serenas Villas for two nights. I’m so glad we picked this place because our experience was excellent. We received complimentary champagne on arrival and the bar inside our villa also had free tequila shots set up for us. The grounds are serene and make you feel like you’re staying at a Spanish villa. Our villa had a private entrance and we never heard a peep from any other guests. Everything was spotlessly clean. The main pool is heated so even when it’s chilly out the water temp feels perfect. We also enjoyed the large hot tub. You can order drinks from the bar while you’re in the pool area. We got a couples massage at the on site spa, Whispers. It was excellent! We ate at the on site restaurant, Azucar, the first night and loved it. The breakfast is great because you can either eat it at the restaurant or you can have it delivered to your room in a picnic basket. We took advantage of eating it in our room on both mornings. They give you coffee, OJ, fruit and yogurt parfaits, pastries, and hard-boiled eggs. The location of the resort is very central; you can easily walk to the main street where all the restaurants and retail shops are located. I would stay here again in a heartbeat!

While we were there, the restaurant was busy but not noisy. The music was kept at a low volume. The outdoor tables are just outside the restaurant and upstairs on the roof. So, the pool still felt private.

Well....I am the owner. The spa “heat” can be turned off and you have a small cool private dip pool. The patio is very private and there are 2 lounge chairs (in addition to chairs, umbrella and Firepit. The rooms are also quite large w a separate living room and small kitchen. And the best part is the rooms are half price! So I think summer is the best time for the “spa” rooms. But all the rooms are great and you can’t go wrong. My favorite standard room is 6. And if you want to “half splurge”...Go for room 10!!! (I like 14 a bit better than 15 for the spa rooms) Lars
